Algin can absorb Mercury??

Algin can absorb Mercury?? - 02/27/13 09:06 PM

I’m looking for a sound protocol for amalgam removal and mercury detox, based of scientific research.

This site promotes Algin as a mercury absorber. What study is this based on exactly? Onlythebestherbs.com claims it has the desired affect and quotes a 1970s research, which talks about algin absorption of strontium in rats, but no mention of other metals.

Hello Enfinity,
Russ Tanner is our Administrator and Independant Owner of Herb Allure/ Nature's Sunshine. I have C&P the information he has regarding the Algin. It does give a summary and recommendation (see below). This is posted on this site.
Yes, the ALGIN is Sodium Alginate (from brown seaweed)). I hope this helps you. Someone else may be along when available. Russ is well educated in the area of detoxing for Mercury from amalgams. His 'personal story' is also on this forum, (protocol)- you may like to scroll back and read that.
Also you will see the Cutler Protocol mentioned.

Recommended For

•Heavy Metal Detox - Algin is an essential part of any heavy metal detox plan because it helps to prevent redistribution of the harmful substances. We recommend Algin for anyone detoxing heavy metals. It is particularly useful for mercury, lead, strontium-90, and barium.
•Barium Detox - Algin is a powerful barium binding agent that keeps barium from redistributing in the body.
•Radioactivity Detox - Algin is known for its protective action in relation to radioactivity including radiation-based cancer treatments.

Summary
•Primary (essential) supplement for detoxing heavy metals
•Effective against mercury, lead, strontium-90, barium, cadmium, manganese, tin, zinc, and various radioactive materials
•A healthy non-digestible fiber source
•May help reduce cholesterol by inhibiting bile acid absorbtion
•Appears to stimulate T-cell production and function
•Batches pretested for mercury and other heavy metal contamination
•One of our most popular products
•All NSP products adhere to the strict guidelines provided in California proposition 65 for purity (non-contamination)
Our Thoughts

Algin is one of our favorite supplements. We use it to relieve symptoms of and protect the body against the harmful effects of heavy metal poisoning including mercury that leaches from "silver" dental fillings and is found in vaccine preservatives (Thimerosal).

Possibly the most dangerous issue related to detoxing heavy metals from the body is called "redistribution". This is when the metal comes out of body tissue, enters the blood stream, gets filtered and placed into the intestinal tract, only to be reabsorbed back into the bloodstream and redeposited into other body tissue thereby causing additional symptoms and harm to the body. Our experience has shown that Algin effectively protects against redistribution. Here's how.

Algin is a non-digestible fiber (categorized as a polysaccharide) found in brown seaweeds such as Kelp. Algin absorbs heavy metals forming an insoluble gel-like salt and then carries them through the digestive system. The net effect is that your symptoms are greatly reduced and in many cases we know of (and in our personal experience), symptoms completely go away.

The protective action that Algin provides is particularly important during heavy metal detox —a time when most people feel particularly bad. By using Algin, you can reduce or eliminate your symptoms and protect your body from redistribution. You may also increase the rate at which you detox knowing that Algin is protecting you (check with your health care provider for safe detox rates).

Many of our customers have become ecstatic about Algin. They tell us that Algin relieved their symptoms related to heavy metals and allowed them to feel normal again. Being victims of heavy metal ourselves (see our mercury amalgam story), we have used NSP's Algin for years. It is the first supplement we reach for when symptoms reccur. It has become one of our most popular products.

I am continuing my research on mercury and mercury detox.

Instead of maintaining a private file on my computer with notes, I decided to make a sticky post here so others can benefit from this information as it becomes available. Because this is literally my "note pad", it may not be perfectly organized, but I'll be adding to it often.

Thanks abi, but I'm looking for concrete evidence of Algin's power to absorb mercury. For example, a published study or research paper stating that Algin absorbs mercury.

Also, is Algin listed anywhere in the Cutler's protocol? If not, then where does Algin's credibility as a requisite for mercury detoxication come from?

Good Morning Enfinity!
No, Cutler's Protocol does not use ALGIN, to my knowledge. I read back and tried to find such evidence, not there.

I will bring Russ in on this. He is the one I told you about, having had Mercury poisoning from AMALGAMS and PLUS from the Chemtrails.
I, personally, still have amalgams but because of health reasons can not get them removed at this time. I KNOW that the ALGIN has been a 'life saver' for me. No more Candida, no more rashes, no more foggieness, and a few others. I'll see if I can get Russ. He's more up to date with this. May I ask, are you anyway near the Chemtrail Spraying (sky), large white plumes that are making so many people sick? That is suspected to also have Mercuy in them.

Thank you for your kind note. Hang on, I'll see what I can do, I believe Russ comes in later on certain days, so please be patient. Thank you. Just because Cutler's Protocol does not use it does not mean it is ineffective. The DMSA is the best product (Chelator), for Mercury and several other metals. Hard to find, as you scroll back into the past messages you will see it there.
BTW: When you FIRST came on this Mercury forum, did you happen to read the several people's testimonies at the top in a large SQUARE? Blessings! Abigail

[Edit] I am adding the product DMSA information. This seems to be the best of all,(proven) for removing heavy metals from the body. I've retrieved the information for you, and you can go on their website if you desire to ask questions.

There seems to be a difference of opinion regarding the directions in taking the DMSA.

Enfinity...

Algin is well known for it's affinity for heavy metals including mercury. The studies and medical literature showing this are clearly marked on the website you referenced so you are free too view them yourself.

Okay, well I did my own research and the references you guys post #5, 7, and 8 are books and not actual studies.

I did find one study which states that Kelp absorb mercury, but it doesn't seem to be available online, and might be originally written in Japanese. I wish we could see the actual paper, to see how effective Kelp is at absorbing mercury.

Anyway, here is the study...

Bladderwrack (Fucus vesiculosus), Kelp (Laminaria sp.) and Sargassum also contain Calcium and sodium alginates, that gel-like substance we’ve discovered binds to heavy metals such as lead, mercury, cadmium, barium, radium, plutonium, strontium and cesium in the gastrointestinal tract to form insoluble salts that are excreted in the stools (Tanaka, Y. et al. "Application of algal polysaccharides as in vivo binders of metal pollutants." Proc Seventh Int Seaweed Symp, 602-607, Wiley and sons, 1972.).

Mercury bioremediation by mercury accumulating Enterobacter sp. cells and its alginate immobilized application.

Abstract

The effective microbial remediation of the mercury necessitates the mercury to be trapped within the cells without being recycled back to the environment.

The study describes a mercury bioaccumulating strain of Enterobacter sp., which remediated mercury from the medium simultaneous to its growth. The transmission electron micrographs and electron dispersive X-ray analysis revealed the accumulation of remediated mercury as nano-size particles in the cytoplasm as well as on the cell wall. The Enterobacter sp. in the present work was able to accumulate mercury, without being engineered in its native form. The possibility of recovering the accumulated mercury from the cells is also indicated.

The applicability of the alginate immobilized cells in removing mercury from synthetic and complex industrial effluent in a batch mode was amply demonstrated. The initial load of 7.3 mg l(-1) mercury in the industrial effluent was completely removed in 72 h. The cells immobilized in calcium alginate were similarly effective in the complete removal of 5 mg l(-1) HgCl(2) of mercury from the synthetic effluent in less than 72 h. The immobilized cells could be reused for multiple cycles.
