oil pulling - 10/26/06 12:37 AM

i been looking on curezone today.and looked on the oil pulling forum. seems interesting.
first thing in the morning you take 1 tablespoon of sunflower oil.and swish the oil in your mouth for about 15-20mins then spit out. its supposed to remove toxins, heavy metal. from the body. not sure how it works though. has anyone tried it?

They were talking about it on the Yeast Connection awhile ago, someone did try but said it was really gross, but hey you never know. Those ancient cultures have been around a lot longer than us.

Re: oil pulling - 10/26/06 12:44 PM

Hi smitho--I tried this about a year ago and felt some positive difference from it. It wasn't as dramatic as something like a liver flush, but it was still good. Seemed to give me more energy in the mornings after I did it.

Hi Smitho, A friend and I have been pulling for about 6 weeks now. We have both noticed that we have much more energy in the mornings and she has had several dark spots on her face lighten up. I am noticing that my teeth are whiter and feel much cleaner. I am really excited about the results.

Re: oil pulling - 02/10/07 04:27 AM

ok, you got me convinced, I did it this morning whilst reading my emails, the time went by pretty fast, and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. And the stuff that came out was pretty thick and I feel pretty good today....I think the circles under my eyes are less dark. Hope it gets rid of some cancer cells.

I will try again tomorrow and keep you posted.

Thanks for sharing.

Re: oil pulling - 02/10/07 03:52 PM

I'm sorry to hear about your cancer!! I just felt that I needed to tell you that there is hope. my friend had cysts on her ovaries about six months ago, the doctor wanted to remove all her female parts. I had been taking waiora(liquid zeolite) detoxing mercury. I finally talked her into taking it, six months later she has no cysts!! I spoke with my friend who runs a health food store, she said she has had cases of complete rocovery of cancer in customers. I really feel strongly that it will help alot of people. Another thing that is good is an antioxidant called mycrohydrin. This puts good fluid around your cells, it is very compatible with the waiora!! Also I take barley green, carrots and beets the good food. I don't know what your diet consists of but these things are very important for recovery and rebuilding of the immune system. My mom developed asthma, she was very sick. She started on the barley green after years of getting no where with doctors! I hope you will find some good in my info, or you may already know these things. I wish you well.

Re: oil pulling - 02/18/07 09:04 PM

smitho, I've been trying Oil Pulling also-- after reading about it in Curezone. I use unrefined grapeseed oil.

I don't do it for the 20 minutes they say- but about 10-15 minutes is all I can take. I notice that extra mucous tends to come out of my throat when doing this oil pulling-- and I also am getting compliments on the whiteness of my teeth.

Also- I normally would get acne blemishes on my chin, cheek area during PMS- because of the hormone changes, but these 2 months I"ve been oil pulling, I am not breaking out whatsoever!

I tried oil pulling when I still had metal fillings in my mouth once, and I stopped quickly because I started getting small dark grey blemishes all around my chin , lip area. I think this could have been the oil pulling out mercury deposits.

I was afraid to start oil pulling again because of that, but
since having all my fillings out-- I havnt gotten these blemishes at all now.

Also, the oil in my mouth really seems to be lubricating and enhancing my gums. My gums were bad before I had my fillings removed- but rebounded afterwards- and now they are even more healthier it seems!

Re: oil pulling - 02/18/07 10:16 PM

Thanks for the tips Shaybutter, I will look into the zeolite, I think I actually bought some last summer but was scared to try it in case I had a bad herxheimer reaction. It is in a little dropper bottle....I hope I can find it.

And I have to get into the habit of doing the oil pulling daily, just one more thing to squeeze into my routine.

Re: oil pulling/zeolites - 02/18/07 10:37 PM

Hi Sandi. I just started taking the NCD zeoloites this past week, and so far do not seem to be having any major herxheimer reaction. As a matter of fact, I am feeling more energy and less brain fog. I am slowly working my way up to 10 drops 3x per day. I think for cancer they may recommend getting up to a higher dose - maybe 15 drops 3 or 4x per day - I'm not sure.

Be well-

Re: oil pulling - 03/17/07 03:38 PM

It was hard for me to believe that this oil pulling worked. But, when read how it cleared somebody's friends clear up dark spots, I thought I would try it. It surprised me when I had one that start to lighten right away. It only took 1 week. The energy was pretty good too. Does anyone know how this works?
Posted By: Boldyloxx

Re: oil pulling - 03/17/07 05:37 PM

that's a good question -- I'd like to know how it works too. Maybe the oil enzymes draw out impurities from the blood vessels and tissues.

All I know is that I'm still oil pulling and since I started I still havn't had any breakouts in the least on my face as I normally do every month before my Period. None whatsoever!

And I just got another compliment on the whiteness of my teeth - and an employee told me that my skin was georgous and wants to know what im doing different! (*smiles*)

Right now Im using Hexane free cold pressed castor oil to oil pull. I also only do it once a day after brushing my teeth and only for about 10 minutes. The experts in this say do it for 20 minutes, but I dont' have the time in the morning to hold up the bathroom that long ..lol. Nevertheless, I still see and feel results just from swishing the oil in my mouth for 9-10 minutes once a day.

Re: oil pulling - 03/18/07 06:40 AM

Yes I do it too, first thing in the morning while I am answering emails...and the time goes fast...I do it for 15 minutes, that is all I can hold it for, so far.

I can't believe this!!! I have been oil pulling for almost two weeks now. I thought it was hard to believe that it would work, too. Im really excited and waiting for results.

Re: oil pulling - 04/02/07 02:03 PM

How is everyone getting on with the oil pulling experiment??

I have just read this post and was hoping to start it immediately. Finally something that doesn't cost the world But I have only olive oil in my cupboard, so when reading the site to see if I could use this, I found the below information. There are others on this forum using other oils, but below it says they might not work as well. Any experiences?

"NOTE: The recommended oils to use are Sunflower Oil, Seasme Oil. We are receiving many emails about which oil to use. Our experience with thousands of people across the globe says USE COLD PRESSED OIL as first choice, if it is not available use REFINED OIL ( which seems to be effective in the process too). We have observed that any oil other than SUNFLOWER or SEASME may not be effective."

Re: oil pulling - 04/02/07 02:32 PM

Maybe I am wrong- but I am using grapeseed oil-- and at other times, hexane free castor oil. Both oils have been giving me good results, and I am always clearing out mucous when using these two.

Maybe if I switched to Sesame or Sunflower, I'd even get better results! I will add those two oils on my future shopping list :-)

For now- I AM having good results with healthy gums, whiter teeth and mucous from deep in my throat being cleared out immediately after 15 minutes of oil swishing with castor or grapeseed oil in my mouth.

I've been using grapeseed oil like Boldy. It's working great for me. Whiter teeth, energy, clears out mucus and even lightening two dark spots that are on my face. If I take it when my mouth starts to itch from allergies, it stops the itch. I do, however, plan to try the sunflower or sesame seed oil ... just to see how they do. Can't do it too late in the afternoon as the energy keeps me up. LOL I would have never believed it.

It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and I managed to swish the oil for the recommended 15 minutes without gagging

I found this on the site posted on this thread....

Quote
(c) Sunflower and Sesame oil have been found to be equally effective in curing diseases. Other oils were not found to be as good. Do not blame oil pulling by practicing with other oils. Use refined oils.

It stands to reason that this would work, as castor oil packs have been used for centuries to pull out toxins. Surely hasn't done me any harm...I just wish I would remember it more often...but by the time I think of it, I have already eaten. I am usually starving when I wake up.

Re: oil pulling - 04/07/07 08:48 PM

Oil pulling seems to have big reactions if you are overloaded or full of negative things. We work in a health food store and have for 20 years. So we have tried almost every goofy thing to find a quicker path to health. Aside from the negative reactions of low energy, clouded mind, acne, headaches, fleeting pain and twitching in some organs, and swollen gands, (all come and go...but seem to slowly go away) we find these benefits: Less appetite, cravings for fats and cheeses are almost gone completely, weight loss, cleaner mouth and tongue, and better circulation, oh and definitely a great sinus cleanser. Just let it be known that health food stores generally breed a large amount of drinkers and smokers(go figure) so our reactions are probably not going to be so severe or noticeable in a well balanced person. We generally eat well, but have generated some amazing bar tabs over the years.

All said and done, there is something to oil pulling as we have four people doing it daily. I had to stop for a few weeks as bad reaction got too severe. It's going fine now. The guy that lost about 10 pounds has done it 8 weeks or more.

Re: oil pulling - 04/11/07 07:36 PM

I have been oil pulling for 2 to 3 months now every morning for about 20 minutes.

On the positive side my tounge is nice and pink without any coating or anything, and my gums look nice too. My gums no longer bleed either when I brush them, but having said that I have been flossing much more regularly each night too so that could be improving my gum health. I think my eyes look whiter too.

However, unlike the experiences of the previous poster I have put on about 10lbs in weight since I stated this, and am convinced that the oil pulling has caused this. I have not changed my diet and there is no other reason I can think of for my sudden weight gain. I have frequently read the curezone site about this oil pulling treatment, and did stumble across one or two people who had gained weight - someone said maybe its cos food would be better absorbed???? - I don't know. However, a lot of other people say they have lost weight so I'm not sure. I do belive that oil pulling is a good thing, especially since its such a cheap and easy way to improve your health so I'm reluctant to stop doing it but I think I will stop for a few weeks and see if my weight drops at all. I am overweight anyway so I can't afford to do anything that will cause me to put on even more weight. I had my gallbladder removed seven years ago and I don't know if this would affect the results of oil pulling, although, according to the curezone site, you have even more reason to oil pull if you don't have a gallbladder as it will help the liver get rid of excess bile. I'm confused about this now so like I said I am going to stop for a few weeks and see if my weight drops any. Any one had similar experiences??

I agree Lizzie, it is a bit weird, and I feel weird telling people about it, but it sure does me a lot of good. Chemo patients are prone to mouth sores and gum infections, and I have had none,....partly due to my good diet and the Immune Stimulator from NSP...but also from this as well.

And that is a good idea to leave the oil on the cupboard, I will have to leave a sticky on it, "Do not put away."

I don't think it would make you gain weight Lizbet, it should make you lose fluids as clear out the toxins. Are you following a low starch, gluten and dairy free diet?

Re: oil pulling - 04/11/07 11:20 PM

Hi sandi, I'm very glad the oil pulling is helping you.

As regards my diet it could be better, I tend to like all the things that are bad for me, but, and this is the point I was trying to make, I have not radically changed my diet over the last few years at all, and over the past couple of years have always maintained around about the same weight, all of a sudden over the last 2 to 3 months I have gained 10lbs and the only new thing I'm doing is oil pulling - I agree that it sounds doubtful that it would make me put on weight - but as its the only different thing I'm doing its the only thing I can come up with.

Anyways it will be interesting to see if there is any difference over the next few weeks in my weight as I said I intend to stop oil pullling for a wee while to see what happens. Like I said I have found a few - only a few mind - entries on the curezone site where people say they have gained weight so I don't know if there is something in this or not. I will keep you posted.

By the way Sandi I have been reading all your posts and am so very glad you are keeping better - wishing you all the very best - lizbet

Re: oil pulling - 04/12/07 07:16 PM

I haven't done any oil pulling for about a week. This morning I had sugar cravings all morning. Thought that, seeing as how I had an empty stomach (before lunch), I would resume my oil pulling. Not expecting it, but my sugar cravings went away and it has been about 1/2 an hour since. I got the sesame oil and will try it. Though I was having good results with the grapeseed I had to wonder if I would get even better results with the sesame or sunflower.

Re: oil pulling - 09/01/07 01:39 PM

I usually use Virgin Coconut Oil, then I ran out and I had real trouble with sesame seed oil, and a 2nd time with sunflower oil too. They both made me feel absolutely terrible. It was amazing when I went back to OPing with VCO because it gave instant relief. The VCO pulled whatever the sesame oil and sunflower oils had put into my blood stream, straight out again and within ½ a day I was fine.
I have multiple food intolerances and MSC, so these problems I think are just specific to me.
I still OP with VCO every morning.
Makes my teeth white, my gums firm, make the skin on my face soft, reduced acne and most strangely removed a mark/blemish on my arm that I’ve had there since a kid, 20 years there and gone within 3 weeks.
I’m a firm believer.

I also read that oil pulling only works with sesame or sunflower oil . Almost none of the olive oil you buy is actually olive oil regardless of the price. The Aug13, 2007 edition of The New Yorker has a story on the sale of canola , soybean and other oils as olive oil.

Oil pulling may work by killing bacteria. The oil may deprive the aerobic bacteria of oxygen for fifteen minutes and this may be enough time to destroy them

Re: oil pulling - 10/14/07 01:11 PM

I've also been oil pulling for about 3 weeks.I tried the sesame & then the sunflower oils, and then Sunshine mentioned the Virgin Coconut Oil,well I find this to be my favourite.
The VCO is anti fungal &antiviral. This is a fantastic way of using these properties in your body, especially as some of us may be having difficulty digesting fats at the moment,so may not be able to ingest alot of oils.
I also sneeze or need to blow my nose straight after &
if I've woken up hungry &do the oil pulling,I feel less hungry, isn't that strange.I am not trying to lose weight though,
I am 5foot 2 &generally have a stable weight of 51kg,but over the last few months,I've lost about 5kg,and have definitely been eating more.Maybe my body just needs all the extra nourishment at the moment, been through quite a bit, this year too.
I definitely like the oilpulling though. Can you imagine how great that would be as a health maintenance measure for everyone, just 1 tablespoon of oil a day, wonderful stuff.

Re: oil pulling - 10/15/07 04:05 PM

How are you Sunshine?
Yes that VCO is just great.I eat it,use it if I cook or bake, use it as a body moisturiser & mixed with the essential oils for under arm use &occasionally massage my scalp(it normally takes a few days/washes to get the oil out,but it's magic for your skin/scalp/hair.And the hair looks in lovely condition (when I manage to wash out the initial dipped in a chip pan look)
And now I oil pull with it too.For my son's birthday I made a flan using coconut oil instead of butter, everyone thought was delicious,I'll post up the recipe on the recipe section for anyone who's interested, speaking of food makes me hungry...

Hi Sunflower, I’m battling on. I over ate yesterday, so today I have done a liquid only day today. No solid food. Gives the digestion a break.

Yesterday I also took some anti-parasite stuff, so I feel pretty rough today. I obviously still have a parasite issue!

VCO – yup, think I do all u do with that. Cook, bake, body moisturiser, OP. Its wonderfull stuff. On yr suggestion I have been using under arm, and for that purpose I think its rubbish, but I could be that I am sweating out a lot of toxins recently and am overly smelly? I have rather a lot going on, as usual. The parasite stuff I tried yesterday does not help.

I been thinking of food a lot today, inbetween parasites giving me a hard time.

And I cancelled my last amalgam removal which was supposed to be today…boo hoo

has anyone tried it?

Yep, cured my acne with it after 25 years. Throwed everything but the kitchen sink at my acne, and oil pulling cured it. In 6 months. Still continuing because one of the stuff I threw at acne gave me Crohn's disease (Accutane) and trying to see if it will cure me or improve my condition. It also cleans your mouth and clears your sinuses. Oh and I no longer have joint pains either.

Quote
someone did try but said it was really gross

Try drinking 4 liters of laxative fluid, that IS gross. This is the easiest thing I ever did that seriously improved my health. Curing a 25 year old chronic thing qualifies as a SERIOUS improvement.

Quote
I use unrefined grapeseed oil

From what I read most oils will give some beneficial effects, even coconut oil (melts in your mouth lol), but sunflower and sesame oil are supposed to give the best results.

Quote
but about 10-15 minutes is all I can take

I do 40 minutes easily. Three days ago I did a full hour.I'm doing it while typing this. It's easy.

Quote
Also- I normally would get acne blemishes on my chin, cheek area during PMS- because of the hormone changes, but these 2 months I"ve been oil pulling, I am not breaking out whatsoever!

Explanation: the toxins in your skin mimic the effect of those PMS hormones..so if you get them both at the same time you get acne during PMS. Once the toxins are removed, your skin only has to deal with your own hormones, and you don't break out as much (if at all). You don't have to believe me, just look into the mirror. Question: did you grow up near a major industrial facility that spewed out lots of pollution? I'm trying to pinpoint the exact chemicals.

Quote
Does anyone know how this works?

Nobody knows EXACTLY how this works, because you can't make a profit on research on it. So it isn't researched. It IS being debunked massively though, probably because it cuts into other people's profits if you do try it.

Basic method of operation: removes fat-soluble toxins from bloodstream by creating the biggest fat reservoir inside your body (the oil in your mouth) with almost NO toxin content. Through simple diffusion the toxins will go from your blood, which is mostly water, to the oil, which is mostly fat (with an increasing amount of toxins while you swish it).

(15 minutes into the OP now..)

Lowering the level of toxins in your blood results in toxins being released from all organs into the bloodstream, which results in a lower overall level of toxins in your body...ergo: detoxing.

This also explains why OP can give increased symptoms after a few weeks: not all toxins are created equal and not all of them are stored equally over your body. Toxins kept in your liver for example, that were harmless there, will be released and travel throughout the body where they might be reabsorbed by some organ that can't handle them, and you get symptoms. Obvious ones: joint pains, eczema, acne.
The trick is to keep detoxing, so you keep removing the newly released toxins.

Beware: there are some OP debunkers that claim you can't possibly detox fat-soluble toxins because they are stored in fatty tissues. One obvious one is this site:
http://www.lisabarger.com/oil_pulling_debunked/
FYI: that person lacks basic biological knowledge. Try researching DDT. It's about diffusion and osmosis.

Debunkers usually ARE clueless, it's just that their intolerance is the most obvious personality defect.

I will try it once I have my amalgams removed

No need. I still have my fillings, and it cured my acne nonetheless.

I really think there is something to those ancient customs

I actually know this Morrocan girl who says her Berber grandmother in the Morrocan mountains already used OP for whitening of teeth. It's ancient and works.

The guy that lost about 10 pounds

I think just detoxing and resolving vitamin deficiencies will remove an incredible amount of overweight, but that's just my informed opinion.

I'm sitting here now swishing the oil and I must say this is one of the weirdest treatments I have ever participated in

Hardly....then you've never had REALLY alternative treatments. LOL.

Oil pulling may work by killing bacteria.

One of the few scientific publications ever done on OP actually does put this forward as a MOO for dental health improvement. Because it is now also known that bad mouth health can lead to heart infections, OP is also good for your heart.

One last thing about coconut oil: if you spit it out in the sink it might become solid again and clog up your sink. Better to spit it out somewhere more safe.

I reckon it's all placebo, if it really does extract fat soluble toxins why doesnt someone have the saliva/oil cocktail tested in a lab? It would be interesting to see the results.

I'm still going to try it though to see if i notice any difference. I'm going in skeptical so I don't think theres a chance for the placebo effect on me.

I tried it for a month or so and didn't really notice too much. I would breath out in fresh air though and some pain would be on my lower front teeth! I stopped it and that mainly went away shortly after. It is almost as if it did something to enamel or similar to a cavity.

You need to do it for 2-3 months minimum. It works slowly, and it can increase some symptoms in the first month. You stopped short of the effect, so don't blame the method.

When I stopped that went away fully from my teeth, the pain when breathing in and so on, so cool if some want to do it but I will pass doing it again anytime soon.

I can't say it doesn't work or does and cool if it works for you! I have no problem with what works for others nor will down it.
