Look o'er the people about you--

faces so furrowed with care,

lined and hardened by sorrow

sin has placed on them there;

think of the evil they live in,

hopes not and joys so few;

love them, pray for them, win them,

lest they should perish, too. ~~

-- Teach me contentment, Lord, whate'er my lot.
Keeping my eyes on You in trust,
Knowing Your love is true, Your way is just.

Teach discontentment, Lord, with what I am;
Daily striving, growing daily nearer,
finding You are daily closer; dearer.

Contented, Lord, yet discontented make me,
Both together working, blending
All in Your own glory ending. ~~

one by one:
each desire, however sweet,
just begin;
dreams still hazy; growing bright
all your longing each delight--
every one. .

At His feet and leave them there,
never fear;
every heartache, crushing care--
trembling tear;

You will find Him always true,
men may fail you, friends be few;
He will prove Himself to you
far more dear. ~~
