Anyone else suffer from eye-floaters? I've read they are normal, but I don't know. I get a lot of floaters, some times worse than others, and they are long and quite thick and just generally "annoying". I was wondering if they could be mercury related?

I had this problem all my life. In fact, I had such itchy eyes that all throughout the day I would rub them. People used to tell me all the time; You better stop that, you're going to hurt your eyes; But they itched very badly. Now that the mecury is out, it's rare for me to have this at all, plus, my eyes hardly ever itch anymore. It went away immediately after the removal, but I'm not sure I mentioned it in My Mercury Story because I never even considered that idea that it was related to mercury. Later, I forgot all about it (because it was gone) until the past year or two when I remembered that itchy eyes have been a part of my life from my pre-teens.

Eye floaters was the main symptom which made me think that I am mercury poisoned. I removed my fillings 1.5 month ago, and they are still here (but I feel much better, if anyone wonders). I haven't started the chelation yet. Here is an excerpt from Wikipedia: "The cause of floaters is not understood. Some have associated their onset with mercury toxicity and liver function, among other things." (from http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Floater&oldid=18129344. For some reason when you check the latest version of Eye Floaters in Wikipedia, you won't find that line).

My floaters came on in the late 1970's. Later I got ocular migraines irregularly. They are vivid starbursts that stay with you about an hour. You can't really focus well enough to drive. The onset of the floaters coincided with a number of filling replacements. I wish I had been smart enough to figure that out then. However it seems to me that there is enough time delay between the dental work and the symptoms appearing so that we don't corelate the two. Anyway, after many other symptoms arose I was finally diagnosed by a naturopath last year. I had each and everyone of my crowns and bridges replaced We took out large chunks of amalgam that were under the gold crowns. I still have the floaters but they are much less noticeable. I also have not had a visual disturbance since completing the dental work in July 2004.

Interesting. Thanks for the contributions. I've had these all my life too - at least for as long as I can remember. I've also had migraines with the flashes and nausea. Also I have glasses, which I needed from about the time I developed anxiety disorder. It's qutie scary, really, all the "niggly" things that I could list wrong with me that might be mercury related.

Russ or Laura, is there any supplement that can help with the floaters? Mine are pretty bad at the moment i.e. they are very thick when I move my eyes in the light. They are not always as bad.

Hi Everyone, Sorry I haven't been posting for a while. We recently had a big business convention and I've been really swamped. Eye floaters...I can almost definitely say that not only did I start getting eye floaters after my first amalgams were put in, but also, my vision got significantly worse quite quickly and I had to get glasses for the first time. Fortunately, since the removal, the eye floaters have decreased somewhat, and in 5 years, my vision doesn't have seemed to have gotten any worse...I'm still wearing the same contact lens strength that I was wearing even before the removal. I'm pretty sure I've seen an improvement in the floaters more recently since I began taking Bilberry tablets (2 tablets twice a day) along with an herbal combination called Perfect Eyes (I take 2 capsules twice a day). Both supplements contain powerful antioxidants and help support microcirculation to the eyes. Plus Perfect Eyes contains carotenes that have been shown to help prevent and in some cases even improve other eye problems such as cataracts and macular degeneration. I know with all the hours of computer work, and especially being a contact lens wearer, my eyes do not get fatigued like they used to before I started taking these 2 supplements. Another thing I am going to start trying is a liquid called Thai-Go, which is loaded with some of the most powerful antioxidants and has the highest ORAC rating (a measurement that rates the level at which antioxidants destroy free radicals) of any liquid antioxidant drink that I know of. I have taken Thai-Go here and there, but I think by taking it every day, I should really see a difference. Plus, I have heard some really great testimonials from other people who take it daily.
