O.K., so i went to a hollistic dentist and I need a whole lotta work done. My appts. are on Dec. 8 and 19.
My question is: Has anyone found it beneficial to cleanse the liver (ie. like on Hulda Clark's site - olive oil, grapefruit, epsom salts, etc) before getting amalgams out? It seems to make sense to me. I have had pain in the liver area for over 20 years. If the liver is clogged, it seems to me that chelation would be hindered. I wonder if that is why some people don't do as well after amalgam replacement, if their liver is clogged. According to Hulda Clark, the liver can get pretty stuffed full of stones. Wouldn't that impede the removal of toxins?

Yes, your liver is probably totally overloaded from all those toxins. That is the reason I did Hulda Clark's cleanse, but I can not reccommend it to anyone that has mercury poisoning ( I didn't know that was what I had at the time) simply based on my experience sick as a dog and threw up) and what I have learned since about mercury patients being fragile. I would reccommend the epsom salts baths as they are suppose to help detox and you get the added bonus of magnesim.

I agree. Liver cleanses are great but you have to make sure you can handle it, and with mercury toxicity, it's questionable.

One symptom to watch out for is anger. Chinese medicine associates the liver with anger (and related emotions). Ironically, this is what many people experience when they do a liver cleanse.

I did a number of liver clenses when I had my silver fillings and did not get angry. In fact, I felt fanstatic. I loved feeling like that. The liver cleans the blood and body. But after a while I got back to my normal, lethargic, self. Apparently this is due to stones moving down the liver/gall bladder to clog it up again.

The liver flushes, after 3 successful ones, stopped removing any stones. But now my amalgam fillings are gone I seem to be removing them naturally (I see them in my stool).

I would recommend doing liver flushes. But you may never be able to remove all the stones until you've had your fillings out. But get as many stones as you can out now, it may help your detoxification process later (the liver plays a huge role in detoxification).

It was due to reading on curezone the affect mercury has on the liver that I came to the conclusion, with help from them obviously, that my fillings were affecting me/my liver the most.

I used Milk Thistle with good results and did not have anger either. We hear numerous stories of those who do, however, because we have a lot of contact with numerous health practitioners all over.

Laura did have anger issues which caused me to kindly ask her to stop the supplement and try a lower does at a later time.

I've done liver flushes before also; or often called gallbladder flushes.

First few flushes that I did I got decent results; last one I did not and actually had some complications from (its important after a flush to get your electrolites back). Also I wouldnt suggest getting a colonic near when doing a flush.

I plan on doing another flush soon now that I have gotten my amalgams out.

Yes I did that flush ... someone sent me this info on a flush and this is pretty much what I followed (except for a few variations I will list).

"EPSOM SALT VERSION
Let?s say you are going to perform the Epsom salt flush on Friday

Stop taking all supplements and prescription drugs while performing the liver flush!

Friday Morning:
Eat toast and jelly, etc. and drink tea for breakfast (No Fatty Foods).

Lunch
Eat a baked potato, etc., and drink only pure water (No Fatty Foods).

DO NOT EAT OR DRINK ANYTHING AFTER 2:00 PM Friday

Mix-up 4 tablespoons of Epsom Salt and 3 cups of water in a jar.
(can be refrigerated but room temperature is better)

6:00 PM
Drink only ¾ cup of Epsom Salts and Water mixture.

8:00 PM
Drink only ¾ cup of Epsom Salts and Water mixture.

?WARNING? If the first two Epsom Salt drinks did not cause you to experience two or three runny bowel movements, which cleanses the colon, then ?DO NOT? proceed with the Olive Oil Drink ? ?ABORT? the Flush and instead, take an herbal colon cleansing product like Corrective-A, etc. the next morning before re-attempting the Flush. The stones can only be eliminated, if your colon is completely free of stool.

?WARNING? Be sure that you ?ARE NOT? allergic to Olive Oil and if you are allergic, use Fish Oil or Flax Oil instead.

?WARNING? Be sure that you ?ARE NOT? allergic to epsom salts and if you are allergic, perform the apple juice flush instead. There are some individuals who experience migraine headaches, therefore, headaches could be triggered by ingesting the epsom salts.

9:45 PM
Put ½ cup of Olive Oil and the juice of one grapefruit in a jar so it will be ready to drink at 10:00 PM.

10:00 PM
?Stand? by your bed and shake?up the jar of Olive Oil and Grapefruit juice and drink it quickly. ?DO NOT? take longer than ten minutes to ingest all of the drink.

After completing the olive oil drink, ?IMMEDIATELY? lay-flat on your back with your head propped-up on a pillow and ?DO NOT MOVE? for a period of 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, you can turn on your ?Right Side? and continue sleeping that way as long as possible.

HELPFUL HINTS
1) Imagine in your mind that the stones are flowing out of your Gallbladder because the ?Mind? controls the ?Body?.
2) Gently massage the area of your Liver (right rib cage) in a clockwise motion, to the count of 100 while lying on your back.
3) Try to sleep all night, without getting out of bed.
4) You may become ?Nauseated? after drinking the olive oil but unless you feel that you must throw-up, try to lay still and it should pass. The important thing is to be relaxed and let the olive oil perform its work.
5) If you do throw-up, go ahead with the procedure and drink the last two epsom salt drinks the next morning because you still might eliminate some stones.
6) You can add two or three drops of herbal Stevia to the epsom salts drinks to make them taste a little better if needed.
7) If you eliminate a stone that?s to large to pass out your common bile duct, start taking a magnesium tablet every half an hour, until the pain stops. This shouldn?t happen if you drink the proper amount of epsom salts but sometimes these things happen. If a stone was so big, that it got stuck in your common bile duct, you would of eventually had to deal with this problem some day soon anyhow so just be glad that you?re finally getting the stone out so that your liver and gallbladder can now start functioning properly.

Saturday Morning:
At either 6:00 AM or 7:00 AM, depending on what time you get out of bed,
Drink only ¾ cup of the Epsom Salts and Water mixture.

Results:
You should experience a bowel movement within 30 minutes after drinking the mixture.
Your first flush may produce only sandy looking matter, that?s floating on top of the toilet water. This is pin size stones, which has been blocking your gallbladder. You may also notice larger green or brown stones as well.

Two hours from when you drank your last Epsom Salts and Water mixture on Saturday morning, (either 8:00 or 9:00 AM) drink your last glass of Epsom Salts and Water mixture, ONLY this time, drink just 2/4 of a cup of the Epsom Salts and Water mixture.

Results:
With your next bowel movement, you should notice more large floating stones floating on top of the toilet water. Be sure to try and count them as accurately as possible.

Now the day after I didnt drink as much epsom salt concoction as listed (I find this the hardest part of the flush).

Again this info was given to me. And from what I read there is also a very rare chance of someone having a gallbladder attack when doing this flush but more then likely this person would have had one anyway in the future.

oh also at least for me it took me a bit to have a 'bowel movement - more like diarehha (I cant spell <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />" after the first 2 shakes.

Some liver flush advice says to take 1/2 a cup of olive oil, and some says to take 3/4 of a cup, and some says to take a whole cup.

Where on earth is all that oil supposed to go? How can this be good for us? Our bodies were not built to withstand such an assault. I did two flushes a year ago and thought I was going to die I felt so awful. And none of my problems was cured. Yes, some little round balls appeared in the toilet, but if I understand correctly, if they float, it is not true gallstones or anything else that gathers in the liver-gallbladder area...it is your body's attempt to get rid of all that darn oil!

Never again. I tried it twice, and that was twice too often.

I used 4 ounces of extra virgin olive oil and 4 ounces of grapefruit juice.

I did the flushes when my acne got too much for me to bear. My acne cleared up SO much direclty after the first three flushes (after I passed the stones) (after the fourth nothing happened).

It can be pretty horrific to do. But when you're that desperate to get some health back...

well, i've done about 5 of them in the past year-- when I still had the metal fillings in, and had no bad effects- and got out lots of stones on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th flush. The 5th flush was the day after my last filling removal and I only got out a few stones then.

Contrary to instructions, I drank lots of water in between the Epsom Salt drinks and remained hydrated.

I agree that it may not be for everyone-- It worked for me, but everyone is different. My skin did get extra clear after about the 3rd flush-- and to this day I don't have the allergy problem I used to get every year.

I always get the upper respitory illnesses before anything else.

When I was a kid, I got them several times a year- bronchitis , hoarse throats, etc, . and I had metal fillings inserted since 12 years old!

Last year was my first year for throat thrush. (this was before I considered getting my metal fillings out) My candidas was getting so bad that it was affecting my throat., and the yeast gave me a throat condition. Yogurt helped.

I was so scared, I thought I had throat cancer!

Now it's a thing of the past-- thank God!

i've heard/read from many sources that coffee enemas are the best liver cleanse, and they are safe. type it into google for a search and loads of sites will come up, including the gersen therapy site. i just spoke to my doctor today, and we agreed that a liver cleanse is a good idea before i start chelation, to ensure my liver is ok and can handle the load of toxins that your system dumps during chelation. we both felt that coffee enemas would be the best way to clean my liver. i know many people who do it, with great results. it really flushes the toxins out of your body.

yep, I'm a grat advocate of coffee enemas, but there a couple of things to rememeber with them:

1) coffee enemas act in a similair way liver flushes do - they mobilize (sorry for word choice;)) bile in the bile duct tree into the gallblader so the liver can dump all the toxins that it has been processing. It also tells the liver to make more bile, and increases gluthatione in the blood.

2)yet, coffee enemas will not be effectve if the liver is not nourished enough. It seems abvious but coffee enemas are so powerful, that will make the liver use up a lot of its 'fuel'. So before you embark on coffee enemas, be sure your liver is nourished and producing enough bile.

3)always clean your descendind/sigmoid colon first! the nature of coffee enemas is that it's retained in these colon parts because enetro-hepatic circulation there and great blood supply. Do you ever feel sick before voiding? It's because the feces pass through that part of the colon while evacuating and you get short autointoxication. So if you take a coffee enema without first cleaning the descending colon, it will dilute all the trash and toxins that are there and they will be absorbed along with the coffee to your liver. Kind of counterproductive;)

Thanks for the tips. I actually did a daily colon cleanse for close to 2 years during part of my antifungal (candida) treatment. I used a mix of water, psyllium, and bentonite (& an antifungal) twice a day - it was a great colon cleanse, so I think I should be set. Plus, I take Primal Defense, which helps to keep things clean by eating up the bacteria in your digestive/intestinal track. But since you mention it, I will start doing that colon cleanse mix again for a few days before I start with the coffee enemas.

I have no way of knowing if my liver is nourished and produces enough bile....how do you know? And how do you nourish it? I do have a milk thistle extract that I can take for liver support, but I've heard from many people that most all liver supports, especially with milk thistle, can be harsh and many people get nauseous from using them....which is why I've been hesitant to use the bottle of it that I have.

Overall, I'm pretty optimistic about this because I know a lot of people who have had great results from using the coffee enemas, including better energy (I would give anything for energy!!). I know better than to hope for miracles, but I am really hoping that this helps get rid of even a little bit of my chronic fatigue.
