Can someone explain to me how chelating while still having your amalgam fillings "pulls mercury" from the filling.

interesting.....another question, somewhat related, on chlorella. Andrew Cutler strongly advises against using it while amalgams are still in, but in same book on Hair Test Interpretation he points out it's not a chelator. So what's the problem? Seems like the more antioxidation the better, no matter when....people including naturopath keep telling me to take it.....
thanks

I believe Cutler maybe talking about high sulfur content of some of these products that can be problematic for mercury toxic people. Some do ok, some get very sick. High sulfur foods/supplements do have an affinity for metals and they can mobilise them and stir them around. This can make symptoms ALOT worse and for some, quite intolerable. Their detox systems may not be in great shape to eliminate the stirred up toxins so they can be redistributed and reabsorbed elsewhere (sometimes into worse and more sensitive areas).
Yet others, who are very low in sulfur, may find they feel better and have only mild detox symptoms.
I found varying results with Chlorella in the early stages of my mercury detox. Sometims it had me almost going crazy with symptoms, it just mobilised so much metals that I just about lost it completely. Nasty experience. Yet other times I felt ok. I knew it was a bit dodgy for me. Sure I think in the process some metals may have come out of me, but I think there as a lot of risk too.
It's not a strong chelator of mercury. Rather it moves it around, so it's more a mobilising agent apparently. A proper chelator has a much tigher grip on the mercury and is therefore able to be used (appropriately) to escort the mercury out of the body more successfuly, but even then, it needs appropriate dosing to keep blood levels of the chelator level and therefore the movement of mercury less erratic in the process.
Chlorella is great stuff in respect to the nutrient content. Some maybe ok and feel good on it, others may feel REALLY sick and much worse from stirring of metal. I took 2 months onetime to recover after using chlorella which stirred up far too much metals for my system to handle. I did eventually recover from it and certainly felt like I had gotten rid of more toxins/metal at the end of it, but again, at what price? Making myself wretched and nearly bed ridden in the process. I thought that was the only way I'd get that stuff out - go through hellish detox symptoms. To a certain extent, a worsening of symptoms is not abnormal when moving/removing mercury and not always avoidable but it should not be to the point a person has to suffer extreme reactions like this.
This is why I eventually got onto Cutler's protocol and found I was able to chelate the mercury and not suffer as much in the process because of the products and protocol itself. That's when I began to make more strides in progress at that time.
