you are in no doubt in a better place, among the angels, out of pain, and your battle is over. Bless you Sandi, you fought hard to stay in this world, but you will, Im sure have a place there, helping others come to terms and just being the beautiful you. You will not have suffering any more, but be in Wonderland like my sister. I am convinced that us that suffer here find the most fantastic peace and love and just a life without what they had to endure here. I dont know or even try to understand why you went through what you did, but I know in my heart theres only joy and happiness for you now. God bless you sweetie, Tracy xxxxxx

Very sad to hear that.
A lot of people do not survive chemo. She seemed to be doing well till she went back in for it.
I am so sorry.

Just so you all know, Sandi's ovarian cancer had metasticized a great, great deal by the time she was diagnosed. Although she'd had symptoms for years, her doctors refused to give her the tests she requested. It wasn't until the cancer had progressed to such an extent that her intestines were completely blocked and she was in excrutiating pain and her organs were stressed to the point of beginning failure that she was diagnosed.
She was placed in the difficult position of having to make a decision then. The decision was whether to have the life-saving surgery to remove the tumors that were blocking her intestines. By this time her intestines had stopped working and her spleen and other vital organs were in great distress. Her medical team told her that the only way to do surgery was to have chemo first to shrink the tumors quickly. Her tumors at the time of diagnosis were so pervasive, so large, and so many in number that she was inoperable unless the tumors were smaller. In other words, she literally could not find a surgeon to operate on her unless she had received some chemo.
She elected (reluctantly) to have the chemo in order to quickly shrink some of the tumors so they could be extracted. She was scared beyond belief of that chemo. It did shrink some of the tumors and she did have surgery. This surgery prolonged her life. Her plan was to prolong her life enough so that she could pursue some more natural cures and detox metals along the way.
She completed quite a number of rounds of chemo both before and after her surgery and then took a break (her decision) and pursued alternative/complementary therapies.
A few months after Sandi had stopped chemo, the cancer started growing and spreading further and impeding her intestines again. She made yet again, the difficult decision to receive more chemotherapy to try and shrink the tumors and prolong her life. Her pain was severe, by the way.
I don't think she was in a position to do the Gerson therapy or any of the other therapies at the time of her diagnosis because her entire eliminative system was nonfunctional and impeded by tumors. That is, she could not eat, take supplements, juices or eliminate. And by the time Sandi felt she had to take chemo a second time, she was in the same position and in unbearable pain.
It was a tough choice for her. Especially considering the fact that she was such a huge proponent of natural healing and was scared to death of the heavy metals in the chemotherapy . . . she felt it was poison.
I'm not here to advocate traditional or nontraditional treatment in this thread. I just wanted you all to know that by the time our Sandi was diagnosed just 5 days short of a year ago, she had cancer throughout her body. She did the best she knew how given the utterly impossible situation she was in.
From the day of Sandi's diagnosis, friends across the globe began working on trying to help her find a better solution. Again, she did not have the luxury of time on her side and had to make decisions quickly.
In my opinion, the medical care she received was reprehensible and unconscionable and constituted not only malpractice -- but malfeasance.
Up until a week ago, Sandi was still reaching out to her friends, taking phone calls and trying to cheer everyone on in their quest to health. She said that she would continue to deliver the message of mercury poisoning and heavy metal toxicity until her last breath.
I think she accomplished that promise.
May she rest peacefully and enjoy the reward that has been awaiting her from a Glorious God in heaven.
Love to you all, Sharon p.s. And a very special note of gratitude for Russ. I don't want to embarass you by outlining how you helped Sandi. But I'd like to publicly thank you for your support and for all that you did for our friend.

Although I always read this forum most weeks, I have not actually logged in for months and months. I was aware Sandi was very very ill and I have been reading all the posts about her. I have logged in for the first time ,in ages, just to say God Bless Sandi and RIP.
Because I have not logged in for a while I haven't been on my own personal page, on logging in today, there was a message from Sandi in September, asking how I was , how amazing is it for someone who is so ill to still be thinking of others so much - a rare thing nowadays.
I am very annoyed with myself for not checking my page sooner, and replying to her.
May you now not be in any pain Sandi, with love Lizbet

Sandi Flooded our hearts with her fine spirit, a woman of rare generosity, courage , uncommon decency and an inspiration to those of us lucky enough to have known her in however large or small a way. I am the richer for having known her and the poorer for not having met her, but as some of y'all know, I do most heartily believe in recycling so when I shed this ol' meat case, hope to look her up, that is if she ain't too busy. I think the creator might have some big plans for Sandi on the other side, after a well deserved break. God knows we need help down here, and that lady knows how to fight, and maybe more importantly, how to love. Sandi was and still is love in word and deed. This is the kind a rare person who brings out the best in people. She's gonna be missed. Many thanks Sharon for what all ya did on keepin us up to date, and to Russ, too. Much love to her family.

hi All I just want you to know what a lady Sandi was. Sandi and I met thru this forum after we figured out we lived about 3 miles apart. At the end of 2006 we got together for a couple of great chats. This was just before she ended up in the hospital with the excruciating pains that turned out to be, I guess, the ovarian cancer. I know, even then , that she had to be having a lot of bad days bacause we would often have to reschedule our coffe chats. Amazingly she was even then more concerned about the probability that she had passed the mercury down to her chilldren than what it was doing to herself. She was a great tough gorgeous Norwegian who I know fought to the end. I am very saddened by her demise and really do believe that she would be so proud of us all if we could find a way to use her calamity to advance this case against mercury. We did e-mail until right near the end and there was never an ounce of quit in her soul. I do miss her Al

In Memory of Sandi Flood
The spirit of Sandi Flood left her body on January 6, 2008. I met Sandi via a yeast group in 2004/05. Then I dropped off the group to research mercury and came back to find that Sandi had been doing exactly the same thing and had start a heavy metal awareness crusade. To the credit of the yeast group, the owner started a mercury discussion section instead of kicking Sandi out. Sandi had so much more energy than I did and reached out to many, many people in cyberspace. Sometimes I was concerned that she was distracting herself from her own healing by spending so much energy reaching outward, but I see now that it was through all the connecting with all of you out there that Sandi found strength, courage, camaraderie, and a sense of purpose through service.
I am mostly a shut-in, so it is a miracle that I was able to have a best friend in Sandi. She was a kindred spirit in heavy metal research. She had so much energy and fight and optimism. Living in New England, I have never seen the park bench dedicated to my father in Stanley Park and Sandi often talked about how we would both get well and meet there one day. We e-mailed constantly and only rarely spoke on the phone, yet I felt so close to her. I believe it was in 2006 that Sandi lost a family member and also her beloved dog Buddygirl. I know that because of her email name, many of us called Sandi our ‘Buddy girl.’ I had a good laugh when I found out this was her dog’s name! By the time Sandi was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in January of ’07, it was very advanced. Part of Sandi’s legacy is the warning that if your gas and bloating persists despite your best anti-yeast program, go get checked. It wasn’t until spring that Sandi told me that she had almost died during her January stint in the hospital. Another legacy is her warning to protect your young relatives’ health so that they never get any silver (51% mercury) fillings to begin with. Sandi had extensive metal work in her mouth and root canals.
I had much less contact with Sandi since May of ’07 due to my chronic fatigue, so I may not have the whole story, but I know that Sandi had dropped out of chemo because she knew it would kill her and after only one month on the Gerson program I spoke with her on the phone and she told me that she felt “fantastic.” In September she gave me renewed hope by telling me about iodine. I don’t know if Sandi’s pain had returned and caused her to go back to chemo or if it was mostly the fear and pressure. (Tumor markers do go up when you are successfully dismantling them.) Sandi was able to find a different doctor who would at least give her chemo without heavy metal in it, but the fact is that chemo is about all a doctor can order. What I do know is that Sandi may have never had a chance to survive either way, but there is no doubt that the chemo killed her. I was under the impression that she was still feeling great before going to chemo, but she may not have been telling me the whole story.
Sandi sent around a news account and some photos of some women sitting behind their Chinese restaurant in British Columbia preparing a large bucket of rats that they were going to serve as chicken. After this, I always joked with her, “Don’t take any wooden nickels, and don’t eat any rat-chickens.” Sandi, you were our Buddy Girl, you were my best friend, and I cannot believe that I will no longer be receiving your messages in my in-box. If we could find each other in this life, then I’m sure we can find each other on the other side. I wish you peace and joy and I know they won’t be trying to serve you any rat-chickens where you are. Your legacy continues in all the people you left behind.
Love, L. Grace

Hi All, I'm new here. I also knew Sandi from the Yeast Connection site. I had no idea she passed away. I was shocked to find this site and see her name
Her and I never saw eye to eye, but I'm sorry she had to suffer so badly.

I haven't been on here in a few months. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" /> I changed computers and misplaced the link. I am devastated to find this thread, and find the passing of a wonderful, wonderful woman. I agree she is in a better place, but she will be sorely missed. I've always looked up to Sandi, and her posts have always meant so much to me. I am just crushed beyond belief.
It is even more important to me now, to get my removals done, and get well. I already wanted to prove to everyone that I can GET well, but now I HAVE to do it, for Sandi....so I can try and continue some of her work, educating people about the dangers of mercury.

I havnt been online for over a year but I always thought of this group, and Sandy-- and after one year, I knew in my heart she crossed over.
When I signed back on with a new password (can't find where I put my old one) I kept wondering if I'd see any posts from her- if maybe she made it- but today I saw this thread. I know she is with Christ-- she was/is a beautiful soul that left a big impression on me as well.
