I'm about to get my two amalgram fillings removed and replaced next week, and I'm really confused about all this detox and chelation business. It seems like almost every site I can find is just trying to sell me their own product, so I thought I'd try to ask people here who have personal expierience with detox. It seems consistent that most people recommend B vitimins, zinc, garlic, probiotics, and other simple things like that to aid in the process, but what are the best things to use to actually get the mercury out of your system, and out of your head? What methods have worked for you?
I also really don't want to do anything that requires me to go to another doctor or a prescription, as I have very little money to spend, so something like DMPS seems out of the question for me.
I also think I have a candida problem, as I'm incredibly sensitive to to sugars, alcohols and vinegars. I get a really bad reaction to antifungals, espicially my headaches and chest pains get much worse. My question is, should I start reguarly taking anti-fungals right after I get my fillings out, or should I try to get alot of mercury out beforehand? Thanks guys!

I got my fillings removed in July of 2000 and got my life back. I've had a dramatic recovery. I made up and followed my own detox program that worked well for me. To provide basic "getting started" detox information, I wrote a short article, mainly because this is the most common question I get asked. It's located here: http://mercurytalk.com/wiki/index.php/Detoxing:Getting_Started_With_A_Detox_PlanI believe in careful and gentle detox. Detoxing mobilizes mercury and you have to use Algin to capture the mercury once in the colon. If you detox too quickly, you will not be able to "dispose" of all the mercury that is mobilized and some of it will get redistributed back into the body and cause additional damage. While you're in a detox program, you can also work on your specific sets of symptoms, like, brainfog, for example. There are excellent, effective natural supplements for nearly any symptom you may have. Generally, these supplements are a crutch to help you for weeks, months, or sometimes years but as you detox mercury, the symptoms—if they're mercury-related—will usually subside enabling you to get off of the supplements. This is a great thing. You don't have to do what so many pharmaceutical companies want, which is, learn to live with a disease and continue taking a pharmaceutical for life. You use supplements as a crutch for a little while, then as the symptoms go away, you don't need the supplements anymore. Of couse, this idea is not particularly good for business, but truth and health are more important. Herbalists rarely get rich, but they help a lot of people. The big picture is, there are 2 main causes of all disease: If you're not exposed to toxic substances and you're properly fed, you body should work correctly. In my final days of stage 3 mercury toxicity, I took about 35 natural supplements per day to help with my myriad of symptoms. Now, I take between 3 to 8 supplements daily and am doing great. If you want to post any of your specific symptoms here, I'll be happy to offer suggestions about what you can do about them. Brainfog: Mind-Max Low Energy/Low Thyroid - Thyroid Support Sciatica Candida Weak Immune System Elevated Homocysteine - B-12 All the best.

Russ, if you got purified by removal of all your fillings, and are eating a good diet (which I am sure you are), why do you have to take 3 - 8 supplements daily? Just curious. Is there a possibility that you still have mercury in your body?
Animals feel pain & suffering just as we do, and they value their lives as much as we value ours.

There is one thing people seem to forget or might not even be aware of. If you are experiencing mental symptoms such as depression, anxiety, memory loss, concentration problems and brain fog, detoxing with antioxidants and minerals won't help. Mercury is stored in the brain especially the hypothalamus and this is where the main problem lies. No amount of supplements will cross the blood brain-barrier and remove from the nervous system. This is why many people who just remove amalgams and take vitamins don't find relief from the list of mental symptoms. The only substances which crosses the BBB and detoxes heavy metals are alpha lipoic acid and the herb; cilantro. Vitamin C also crosses the BBB, but it has no thiol binding capacity such as ALA (which has one). With cilantro no one knows yet what substance is pulling out the mercury from the brain, but it does so. These must however NOT be taken before all amalgams are out and body tissue have been detoxed for months using vitamins/minerals and high protein (meaning animal protein - not vegetarian protein which contain high copper) diet. The body does naturally detox quickly if given the right nutrition and healthy lifestyle - the brain however will not detox heavy metals. So taking algin, chlorella antioxidants and minerals will help body detox, but doesn't touch the nervous system problem at all..........
For those who are extremely sick both mentally and physically, the nervous system is the MAIN problem and must be addressed.

Just to be clear... We use many supplements, like the ones in the post I made to solve short-term problems while someone is detoxing. Most of the things I mentioned in the context of a crutch are not detoxing agents. They are short-term supplements that help with problems that accompany mercury toxicity and help improve the quality of life until detox is complete enough that the symptoms go away themselves. The process of detoxing nearly always "stirs up" mercury and will make symptoms increase, sometimes dramatically so I recommend certain supplements to make life better during this time. I agree with what you said about Alpha-Lipoic Acid and Cilantro; They are excellent detoxing tools, and I would add that people should be taking antioxidants and Algin during this time to protect against mobilized mercury. Thanks.

Thanks for the help guys. One thing I'm unsure about is how much ALA should I take? Is consuming alot of things high in ALA, like olive and flakseed oil enough? Or would one need to take an ALA supplement? I do see some termporary relief to my symptoms when I take alot of these oils, even with my fillings in, which I first figured out when doing liver cleanses.
And what about cilantro, are we talking about like regular cilantro, or some type of supplement?
But so far it seems like I should take: Alot of vitiman C/E/B(all of the B's) Zinc Garlic ALA Cilantro Probiotics Increased amount of protein Algin oil of oregano(for candida)
Does this all sound good? I'm also going to keep doing a bowel cleanse with bentonite and fiber after my fillings are out, I'm sure that would help the mercury get out atleast a little faster, and I've read in some places the bentonite can actually bond with mercury. Thanks again guys.

A note about ALA and cilantro. You have to detox your body mercury stores before taking the above. These substances take metals out of the brain, but also in to the brain if you have mobilized mercury floating around in your body. This can of course give you serious injurie. I think Andrew Cutler recommends starting with ALA no sooner than three months after amalgam removal. Within these three months you should detox with as high doses of vitamins and minerals as you feel comfortable with and use algin or fiber for colon detox.
PS. I think cilantro is available in tincture form. Personally I prefer the fresh herb. You can find this in the vegetable and fruit section in certain grocery stores. You can use the leaves in vegetables juices or dinner sauces. Start off with just a few leaves in case you react strongly to it. Then you can increase dose and frequency to what feels right for you. Cilantro must also not be used until at least three months pastremoval with intense body metal detoxing.
Best of luck

Carla, You said: Russ, if you got purified by removal of all your fillings, and are eating a good diet (which I am sure you are), why do you have to take 3 - 8 supplements daily? I take a multivitamin about 2 to 3 times a week just because I like to. Super Supplemental which happens to be the best miltivitamin I've ever encountered, by far. I take a supplement to keep my eyes healthy about twice per week because it's a good idea and my eyes are very important to me: Perfect Eyes I take a supplement to keep my DHT down which prevents hair loss and prevents prostate issues (which I don't have and hope never to have): Saw Palmetto I also take CoQ10 once or twice per week just for good measure for heart health: CoQ10 Vitamin C, because everyone should: Citrus Bioflavonoids Calcium, just because it's so important: Calcium and Vitamin D Extra Magnesium, because it makes be feel good: Magnesium Complex Vitamin E, because it's a great antioxidant for the brain, and my brain is important to me too <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />: Vitamin E with Selenium And I take potassium to counter the effects of ChemTrails. I also keep a bunch of stuff in stock for emergencies and general health, like: Colloidal Silver for cuts or burns Flax Seed Oil with Lignans because I don't eat much fish. Hista-Block to counter those springtime sneezing fits.

I did (and am doing the same thing) best bang for the buck detox
This is what I went for ...
First off as others have suggested here its not a good idea to go hog wild when you first get your fillings out (and def. dont do any chelating when you have your fillings in still).
Dr. Cutler and others have suggested not doing ALA until 3 months post removal; and IMO cilantro and garlic fall into the same category as ALA.
So with that in mind I would suggest.
Algin (from this site) Chlorella (from ebay or where ever) Cilantro (cheep from your local grocery store) Garlic or other types ie onions etc (same as above) Vit C (I prefer powdered; check bronsonlabs ascorbic acid or sodium ascorbate are great)
IMO those are the most important things to get; the rest are for the less frugal.
From my reading theres basically 2 kinds of supplements: One that grabs mercury and gets it moving and the other that 'absorbs' it and helps get it out of the body.
So like so many posts here and elsewhere talk about; its not a good idea to free up mercury to only have it redistributed elsewhere. Granted some will probably get excreted on its own but some may lodge elsewhere.
From what I have read Algin is a great 'grabber' of free mercury. While garlic, cilantro, and ALA are great for freeing up the mercury. And Chlorella appears to do some of both (from what I read).
You will also want to eat or take things to help your body function and help your immune system. Weather its a green drink, or eating lots of fruits and veggies or juicing or what have you.
I include the powdered vit c as a must have because of its great ability to help heal and stop destruction.
I'm on my 5th month of post removal myself and starting up my detox again. Lots of great info here on this forum
