I am wondering how successful people here have been in getting healthy in their effort to detox mercury?
This is not an easy process for any of us, and it may help to have a reality check on just how successful, or not, those of us who are serious about detoxing have actually been.
How long have you been detoxing mercury, how big of a hole did you start from and where are you at now? For example, did you start from feeling 2 out of 10 and are now 8 out of 10, and over how long of a period of time?

I wonder if how quickly someone excretes mercury plays a part?
I'm no expert, but have come to the following conclusions on how someone is poisoned by amalgam (as not everyone gets sick from it - at least not severely).
1. Sensitive to mercury (maybe in varying degrees)
2. Slow or non-excreter of mercury (so builds up to toxic levels)
3. Sensitive AND slow-excreter
I've been thinking that (other factors aside) maybe those with the best chance of recovery are:
1. Sensitive to mercury, but fast excreter
Poorest chance of recovery
2. Sensitive to mercury and slow-non excreter
Just something that occurred to me.

We are all different, some people can walk through life and have fillings with no symptoms, but people like us don't, i feel older than my own mother yet she's had mercury all her life and she's 30 yrs older than me. I think we all get rid of it at different levels, i hope it doesn't take too long, it's driving me nuts..

The question is how long have you been detoxing mercury, and have you improved, become worse, or stayed the same? I am curious about the actual experience of people on this newsgroup when it comes to trying to deal with mercury issues.
It seems like useful information for those of us deciding on the details of our own detox protocol.
Any responses would be appreciated...

James I had my mouth completely restored 2 years ago. I had 19 teeth with roots, the rest was bridges. Each tooth was crowned so the tops were all taken off, the amalgam underneath was removed, the root canals were redone with an inert substance. Then all new composite crowns and bridges were put on. I did this in less than a month. My health has significantly improved. It started immediately and the many symptoms are still reducing. I would like to think I am half way back to really healthy. I do use several alternative doctors who advise me as to what to detox with. I do use a bit of DMPS but the majority of my protocol is vitamins and herbs. I also use a small number of homeopathics. The main thing we are working on is removing the blockages that occure in the immune/lymphatic system as the mercury is excreted.By that I mean glands and organs such as liver, kidney, spleen, thymus, parotid gland, etc. I can still get a rotten herxheimer day but the severity is minimal compared to how I regularly felt prior to the dental work. What I have recommended to other people is that they take a list of symptoms from one of the mercury poisoning sites like www.toxicmetals.info and rank themselves before and after on a scale of 1 to 10. At least this helps remind you if and how well you are detoxing. There are many tricks to detoxing but I think you have to try each--one at a time-- to see what works for you. Chelation(either IV or foot baths) , infrared sauna, SRT frequency machines are some examples. Each of us seem to have a different level of success with the chemicals like DMPS,DMSA, EDTA and the natural chelators like chlorella and cilantro. You have to try them yourself. And always start off with a minimum dose or minutes exposed. Remember as Russ always says- Detox is a marathon not a sprint Al

Very good points. I tried to do Culter's protocol full bore and it was too much for my system. Same for a Klinghardt-like protocol.
I have recently gone on fresh cilantro, then added the vitamins and minerals one at a time to make sure my system could handle each one. Finally, I added chlorella.
I reacted bigtime to the cilantro, then reacted to the chlorella. My Algin should arrive any day.
At times I move into detox hell, but at least something is happening that I can now handle.

I've noticed at the chelation forums that those who use the Cutler protocol are using even lower doses of DMSA than Andy recommends.....sometimes even 9mg. I have been using 12.5 successfully. Others, who are extremely toxic, have had problems using 25-100mg of DMSA....I think the key with the DMSA is starting low.
