Hi there everyone. This is going to sound strange but ive already had my amalgams out and im having the replacements out again. Since i had them out i've lost over 2 stone in weight. My hair has fallen out, ive got athritis(im only 31). I salivate constantly and believe that the replacements had some sort of mercury content in them. I am currently in the USA(the UK really is appalling when it comes to healthcare, the NHS is evil) and im looking to go see a holistic dentist so i can have my teeth looked out and have these replacements out as im at my wits end.. Does anyone know of a good dentist in VA? Ive thought long and hard about having the whole thing done again and now realise it was bad judgment on my part regarding the choice of dentist to do the procedure last time(boy have i learned) I have tried ABSOLUTELY everything to detox and it makes me even worse. Ive become so electrically sensitive i cant even use a PC for more than 15 minutes. So again i ask can anyone give me the heads up on a good dentist who can help me out. Many thanks..Stuart

Several of my family members have gone to a dentist in Huntingdon, Penn named Jeffery Hartman. I've spoken to him a number of times and visited with him once and he's seems to be very good. I've good positive feedback from everyone I know who's gone there. I know it's a bit of a drive, but a good dentist is worth it. the UK really is appalling when it comes to healthcare, the NHS is evil) We certainly have the same problem over here. Most of our so-called government is evil as well, it's just that many Americans have not yet realized it. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1519312457137943386&q=loose+change Let's start a new country.

Hi Stuart, do you mind me asking where you got the treatment done in UK. A private dentist did mine and i have to do them again, i have found out that the filling material could be unsafe, especially in the future, i need to start work next year so i need to be healthy and not worry about it. I hope you didn't get them done by NHS, cos they havn't got a clue, i swear they are trying to kill us! Good luck!

I got the treatment done in Spring 2004 and it's crippling me. I now have arthritis and getting by each day is a struggle. Something in those replacements certainately doesn't agree with me. Im not working at the moment as im simply unable to. So i took the chance to stay with my girlfriend in the US as i feel better here(not as many mobile phone masts around) I start to salivate whenever im near them..crazy but true. Obviously the metal in my mouth is acting as a conductor and there are times when i honestly think i can hear TV in my head when it's not even on and thats when it gets scary. I won't get them done by the NHS as im going to have them done over here in the US. In fact when i do eventually get better i doubt ill ever walk into a NHS surgery again

Thanks Russ for the info i will look give him consideration. I did call a dentist today who's in Fredericksburg and they told me to find out what actually went into my replacements as i could be allergic to them and recommended a biocompatibility test. Do you know how i can get one of these and are they worth it? Thanks for running a great site.

hi Stuart, I'm really sorry to hear about your reactions to your new dental materials. I don't know which part of Virginia you're in, but I know of an outstanding dentist in Northern Virginia. His name is Dr. Robert B. Johnson and he specializes in mercury removal, detox and biocompatible dental materials. He is also a Doctor of Integrative Medicine. I know 3 people who have used him and my traditional internal medicine doctor refers patients to him. Here is a link to his facility and you'll be able to read his Curriculum Vitae here as well: http://www.naturalhorizonswellness.com/johnson2.htmAnd here is a link from the same site to another page with his photo and more info: http://www.naturalhorizonswellness.com/johnson1.htmDr. Johnson also is affiliated with my new holistic/biological dentist, Dr. Mark McClure. I don't know how many days a week he is in that office, but here is a link to that practice in Washington, D.C. http://www.nihadc.com/My dentist, as well as Dr. Johnson do perform testing on patients to determine allergies and sensitivities to existing dental materials in the mouth. They will also test you on any new materials that will be used. Good luck. SomedaySoon

Today i managed to get in touch with the dentist in Fairfax, well his receptionist. They do testing for allergies to materials using muscle testing. I presume this is Kinesiology..is this reliable. Also i asked about how long it would take to have them all out. They said two visits at the most. ..they do it a quadrant at a time. I have Hal Huggins book and he talks of different methods. Does this really matter.? Thanks!

Hi Stuart, I'm almost certain that Dr. Johnson would be happy to arrange conventional biocompatibility testing for you, if you prefer. Since Dr. Johnson is affiliated with my dentist, Dr. McClure, I'm going to hazard a guess here -- I know Dr. McClure is so confident with his kinesiology that he normally doesn't do formal blood testing. But, he informs the patient of this and says that if the patient would like to follow up with standard tests he'd be happy to do so. I know that Dr. McClure routinely verifies his kinesiology findings with standard tests to be sure that he's finding everything -- sort of as a safety check. So, I'm wondering if Dr. Johnson is so comfortable with his kinesiology, that he is doing the same thing?
And I personally feel that kinesiology is spot on as far as accuracy when it's used by well trained and competent practitioners. Since Dr. Johnson is a doctor of integrative medicine and a naturopath as well as a holistic/biological dentist, I'd again, hazard a guess that you'd be safe in his kinesiology methods. But, again, you should always have the option of requesting standard tests if you so desire.
Medical and dental office receptionists are a huge pet pieve of mine. So many times they are ill informed or simply not capable of answering questions. And most of the time, if we don't ask the precise question in a precise way we won't get the information we need. In other words, if we don't ask a question in "their" frame of reference, we can forget about finding any information at all! And how would we necessarily know what the proper question is when we're trying to gather information? It's so frustrating. I'd bet if you called her back and asked her whether Dr. Johnson would also offer standard biocompatibility testing (like the Clifford test, I think it's called?), she either wouldn't know the answer or would put you on hold and ask someone. lol
As far as the timing of your visits, I can't speak to that. I know Hal Huggins addresses this issue. Based on Huggins' latest research, I've personally opted to use conscious sedation and try to get all of my dental work done in two visits. Next week I'm having all 16 of my amalgams removed. And just over two weeks later (I'm trying to keep to the 7-14-21 day immune cycle), I'll have my root canaled tooth extracted. I do have another tooth that might pose a problem -- it might have to be extracted as well, but we won't know until the dentist removes the crown and looks at it.
On Huggins' website he has an addendum saying, in part, that their research has found that the immune system will not be overstressed or unduly challenged if all amalgams are removed in one appointment using conscious sedation.
Let us know what you find out!
