I just finished my first round of DSMA of 25mg. I have felt tired and achy for the four days since I finished the round. I did not know if this was normal or if it was something else. I would think that would be a good sign that I actually acheived something.

yeah, but people who get healed either don't join a forum, or leave and don't come back, so you never know. Bex is right, most turn to a forum when having trouble and "get on with their lives" when things get better. I am 19 months post revision and I am much better now-not totally healed-but I can live like this unlike the way I was before. I tend to come on and check to see if I can help others because this forum was such a big help to me.

I was feeling the symptoms while I was on the round. I finished the round on Sunday evening and had the symptoms until Thursday. It is now Friday and I feel much better. I am going to wait until next week to do another round.

Hi All
I haven't logged onto the forum for almost a year - mainly cause of works stress, moving etc. I had my last amalgam out July 2006 and have been chelating with ALA since October. During alternating weeks when Im not chelating I take Algin to mop up any mercury released from CNS stores thats buzzing round my peripheral system.
I've experienced an amazing improvement in health during the last 10 months. Bain fog is gone, short term memory is heaps better, no more insomnia, nervousness , anxiety etc. As my personality has balanced out, so have my personal and professional relationships improved also. After over a decade of amalgam induced hell I can say that I'm really enoying life again.
Strangely enough also things like hand-eye coordination, my vision, feeling of touch/sensation have gotten better. Looking back it's been a gradual improvement from month to month. It is a process and it needs time. The great thing is its still continuing to get better. At the moment I anticipate chelating and taking algin for at least another 12 months

Steve, are you taking ALA without DMSA or DMPS? If so, what kind of chelating rounds have you done with ALA? I cannot tolerate DMSA, but I've been afraid to use ALA by itself.

No . I am NOT taking antidepressants or any other psychopharmica.
For your info though - back at the beginning of the nineties, when the whole mess started, I went through many of the conventional MAO- / serotonin uptake inhibitors (antidepressants) and tranquilizers. They did not help of course. It was a bad time.
It shouldn't have any relevance here, but maybe it might add some credibility: I am a physician myself, have been working the last 2 years in the field of pharmakovigilance (drug safety) - I have a pretty good idea of what I'm talking about.

Hi Yes, thats correct I am NOT taking either DMSA or DMPS when I chelate with ALA. The original reason was that when I first started chelating I was living in New Zealand and a reliable quality product was not available. 3 months after my last amalgam was out I started chelating with ALA as per the Cutler Protocol. I initially started on 25mg and worked up over the course of 6 months to 200mg. I currently take two capsules (2x100mg) every 4 hours. I try to continue a chelating round for at least 7 days. It doesn't always work though - sometimes I forget a pill, in which case I immediately stop the round. I noticed early on that it was important to stick to the time frame advised by Cutler (3-4 hrs) otherwise I experienced headaches, nausea etc. I remember though that during the first sixs weeks of chelation I did experience some emotional disturbances and just felt quite wierd. But otherwise, when I chelate now, I feel great. I notice no side effects whatsoever. Finally, but I think also important - I alternate every week of chelation with ALA with a week or Algin. It mops up the mercury that has been mobilized but not excreted and helps noticeably through that "in-between-week" . I do not take Algin when actively chelating. Based purely on my own experience I suspect that Algin binds not only heavy metals but also other pharmaceuticals, including ALA. Chelation with ALA was noticeably less effective when Algin was taken at the same time. Hope this helps. Stephen

can you just clarify. You said you had your last amalgam out in July 2006. This must be a typo. Did you mean July 2005? So taking ALA and the subsequent improvement in health has occured over the last year?
Tracy - when I first become mercury poisoned I had terrible feelings of fear. I was convinced I was going to die. I would drive down the road at ten o'clock in the morning on a bright summer's day with tears pouring down my cheeks, absolutely terrified of dying and what would happen to my children. This has passed somewhat now (just had my amalgams out) but I still think about death and dying a lot - more than is natural. I think about my funeral, and where I want to be buried. Hopefully this will also pass.

you may find some of your anxiety resolves with thyroid treatment. Have you had your thyroid checked? I know that my greatest anxiety went with thyroid medication (Armour). I haven't started chelating yet - too much of a coward - and I wanted to see what the body would do by itself first. I may do it like Steve and do ALA in due course. I have to say I feel worse post removal than I did when I just had a few to go, but I can tell from my symptoms that mercury is on the move, and so I suppose this is good. It is now 2 months since I had them out.
If I were you I would see a really good endocrinologist, get thoroughly tested, and find out what you're dealing with. I know that I am hypothyroid, hypoadrenal, hypoglycemic, have low blood pressure, and my female hormones are totally out of whack. This explains why I feel so terrible. Hopefully I will now slowly improve.

Of couse I will suggest magnesium for the nervous system, it works wonders for those feelings and also drinking lots of water (10-12 eight oz.) helps because I learned (at least for me) that because of the chronic dehydration problem caused by the mercury, you then suffer from low blood volume which causes your body to tell the adrenals to make more epinephrine (adrenaline) to get your heart to pump harder so that the cells can get the nutrients that they need. Since the heart not beating fast enough isn't the problem (and won't help if your blood levels are just too low) you then develop an inbalance in your autonomic nervous system. You are then in a constant state of "fight or flight". Your nerves are on high alert so everything-anything-will set you off.
Also, walking is good to help get your blood moving.

I know the excercise is supposed to help but it sometimes make it worse,i used to have endless energy, now if i run aroud the block twice i'm tired. I tried magnesium citrate but it makes me more anxious so i may have to try another form of magnesium. As for the water, that's all i drink,i have excluded all other beverages from my diet totally,i don't even drink juice.

Walk don't run. Walking gets the blood moving without requiring so much energy as running.

You're probably right, but whe i am well i am an athletic full o energy person, that views walking as non-beneficial excercise. I am just used to running.

The only way I have found to completely get better from mercury toxicity is by detoxing. Most people think chelation therapy is the only method, but after years of suffering with sciatic and candida from mercury poisoning, I stumbled across one product that is safe at removing ALL heavy metals from your body, including mercury and lead. I am surprised how many people haven't yet found or tried it, since it's been around for over a year now. Anyway, the woman who introduced it to me is working with several doctors to get it to the masses, since it also happens to help people with terminal cancer go into remission. I have become a distributor of the product, because I believe it is the only supplement out there that truly prevents illness and based on my personal results, I feel obligated to let everyone I know and care about know about it as well. People are seeing amazing results in their children who are ADHD or autistic, and there are so many other dis-eases that stem from metal toxicity that we are still seeing new "miracles" happen daily. I would love anyone to check out my website at www.peacefuldetox.com for more information on how to get the mercury out of your body permanently. If you want to contact me directly with questions, or want more info, please feel free at zenwoman411@hotmail.com. I can send you documentation from doctors on how it works, and testimonials from people who have been using it. Results vary, but some people are seeing improvements after only a few days using the supplement. This supplement is truly amazing and will revolutionize medicine once more people know about it. Good luck and good health!

ooh, I'll try to be brief
Looking back now, I had many symptoms all throughout my life, but most started after the birth of children. Then..
1997-tremor started, heart palpatations, adrenals on alert 2001-fatigue,irritability, muscle tension headaches, TMJ,back pain, depression, etc. Started seeing naturopathic Dr. improved, but then started back down hill 2003-went to cardiologist that recognized MVP and other symptoms were a result of dysautonomia (imbalance in the nervous system.) which were a result of low blood volume. He didn't know what was causing that (mercury) but, he gave good advise to walk, drink tons of water. 2004-started on garlic to kill candidia. Worked great, but released tons of mercury and caused 18 lb. weight loss 2004-November-started removal of amalgams. Last quadrant removed in Jan. 2005. 2005-started chelation. 2006-Feb. 13 months after revision-seeing improvements. 2006-June-17 months after revision-I feel much better, still have low blood pressure and watch what I eat, avoid chemical exposure etc., but I can live like this. Mental and physical greatly improved. Best I have felt in 9 years.
Yes, symptoms went away very gradually. I still have several, but not nearly as bad and not all of the everyday like before. Don't get discouraged if you don't really see any improvements for a while. If you are as toxic as I was, it just takes a while to get out so many years of mercury (I'm 42 and had many amalgams even as a child)
Also, I learned that your body naturally goes into a detox mode after having the amalgams removed, so be careful and don't do too much to soon. I did and it made me feel worse.
This is what I finally settled on after trying many different things-
*800mg ionized magnesium-half at night/half in morning (I take more if I have any symptoms start up-muscle tension, irritability, headache)
*4 capsules of Algin in morning *Vitamin C (2000 mg) *B complex *GI cleanse (with each meal) *zinc (50mg) *niacinimide (1000mg-this is for my chemical sensitivity) *Mercury Detox (2 capsules- Tyler company) *reduced glutathione-1 capsule
I walk 2 miles most days and drink 10-12 eight oz. glasses of water a day.
Sorry it wasn't really brief, but I hope this will help you. Let me know how it goes.

Whoa,i asked about that mercury detox supplement a few months back,i had a doctor give that to me with my amalgams still in,i stopped after about a week, because i didn't know i wasn't supposed to detox, with fillings still in your mouth. None ever heard of the supplement,so i stopped taking it,did it help any of your symptoms at all?

I started taking it AFTER I had my amalgams removed. I found out about it by reading Dr. Sherry Rogers' book "Detoxify or Die" she is a Dr. who was very ill and she couldn't find anyone to tell her what was wrong until she went to an environmental health clinic in Dallas. Now she teaches others about the dangers of toxins. A friend of mine went to this clinic andis doing much better so I felt that Dr. Rogers was on the up and up.
I do think that this has helped in my recovery as it contains many things that are necessary for the body to be able to properly detox.
