Hi, if you have wisdom teeth, please don't get them removed if you can help it. I knw sometimes it's unavoidable, but many dentist and oral surgeons are the cause of jawbone cavitations because they remove teeth without removing the periodontal ligament or cleaning out the area properly. Then the top of the gum heals over and sadly, often the bone underneath does not because there is a rotting ligament preventing proper healthy blood flow or the allowance of bone to grow over.
On top of this, dentists and oral surgeons use vaso-constrictors in their local anaesthetics, to shut down blood flow as much as they can so they can numb the area more. This causes lack of circulation and then another reason for risk of cavitation.
You are better off with wisdom teeth, unless they are on a bad angle or you're in pain. Many people have had ther lives ruined by having teeth extracted.
Don't be one of them. If you have to have it done, go to a biologic dentist who knows what cavitations are and will make sure you dont have any, but also make sure he doesn't CAUSE any. One that knows to remove the periodontal ligament and one that does not use vaso constrictors in the local anaesthetic.
Keep your wisdom teeth if you can.

I agree, Bex, if mine came through now i wouldnt let any dentist remove them unless they had to come out. My sister had 2 removed, she seems OK. They can cause alot of illness so i have read and its only really just coming to light. In the future if dentist stopped putting toxic stuff in peoples mouths and took teeth out the right way and no root canals, i bet there wouldnt be half the illnesses there are now.

Hi Bex, im a bit worried after you mentioned the vaso constricter because im not sure what my dentist used on me. I went today and had more surgery, last time the numbness wore off quick, but this time its taken longer, does this make a difference, i wonder. He is a good dentist, it was Demi who told me about him.

Hi Dawn.
I hope that your surgery went well. Was it a cavitation procedure or something else?
I know he doesn't use adrenalin injections (i.e. ones that cause you to get hype) don't know about the vaso constrictor as I've never heard of it before. I had a bruise after my surgery, but it went in a couple of weeks. I think he knows what he is doing. I like him a lot. He let me have oxygen to remove the fillng in my cracked tooth, even though it was so tiny it wasn't needed, because I get claustrophobic (spelling)underneath all the protection thing and need air.
I had a wisdom tooth out last year the conventional way. Knowng what I do now it has concerned me about the healing process, but the tooth was decayed and at an awkward angle (so much so I had to go to hospital to get it extracted by a specialist) and there was a serious risk of infection so it had to come out.

Only two wisdom teeth formed in my gums and I had them both out years ago - not by an oral surgeon, but by a little old dentist. It was quick, easy, never caused any trouble or pain at all. Had them checked for cavitations about six months ago and neither they, nor the other two failed root canals that I had pulled had turned into cavitations. So, it can be done well - not every wisdom tooth or other tooth removal - even by a dentist - turns out bad. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> That info is to comfort those who have had removals - they are not necessarliy bad. Those who can avoid removal would probably be better avoiding.

Demi, yes i had a big cavitation site cleaned yesterday, im not sure if i will do anymore for a while as it takes everything out of you. He did say that the site was pretty well healed already and there were only a few little soft bits to clean, but i had it done for the future of my health, because things dont always happen straight away. From what i have read, it can take years for the toxins to make you ill, im 42, i dont want future problems, i have had enough. Some people have better immune systems than others to deal with it. I have read some really scarey stuff on the Bikerchick website about cavitations, yes im paranoid but i still want better health for the sake of me and my 2 lovely girls who i seem to be neglecting sometimes due to not feeling well. Bex, you give good advice and i really appreciate it, your full of knowledge and you dont obsess about health issues, you are just giving good advice to us. With all your health issues, you still help others, you are an angel.

HI Dawn, thanks I appreciate it, you and others are a great help to me too. It's hard not to get frantic or come across as obsessive sometimes to others, because I haven't known anything like this kind of suffering in my life. I'm almost in a half state of shock most of the time.
Idon't have answers, but like you and others, all one can do is search and keep trying.
You are donig the right things with the cavitations and you're not negelecting your daughters, even if you can barely do a thing. I've heard of Mothers in wheelchairs or almost bed ridden and you'd be surprised at how much children just "know" they are loved and grow up extremely happy and stable.
I'd rather have that for a MOther, than a healthy "efficient" mother, materially being able to do anything, but not feeling somehow loved.
So don't ever feel guilty. Some kids end up caring for their own parents and end up some of the best human beings around.

Hi Bex,
I agree totally, I only became "obsessed" with my health when doctors weren't listening to me telling them something was poisoning me and knew that educating myself was my only way out. When you've been to hell and back on your own and no body understands the only way to stay alive is to become "obsessed".
Last year i had all four wisdom teeth removed at once because i had terrible problems with them, shortly before that id broken a tooth that had an amalgam and the dentist drilled away and replaced it with more amalgam. After the wisdom extraction i fell ill with a terrible gastrointestinal virus and was put on three courses of antibiotics before it started to go away. After that my whole life fell apart.
Im going to make it my next goal to see if I have any cavitations and get those fixed as well.

Hi TGoss, yep, when something happens to you that goes beyond the usual and you end up devastated in health, you tend to not be able to get your mind on anything else. That's how it is!
I would say for sure you have cavitations. Usually symptoms can begin pretty rapidly after an extraction, or ones that you've had there all along from an old extraction can start to release their bacteria into the rest of the body from being "set off" from other dental work and/ Or you've been immune compromised and your system cannot hold the bacteria in place.
They usually don't show up on xrays, but a good dentist will usually be able to spot them. Often sadly they're missed. I had a panoramic xray done and my biologic dentist told me I had no cavitations. I then had a cavit bone scan and it showed cavitations, so then he re-read the xray and suddenly he sees them. Problem is, he said there were only "two" yet a dentist in Mexico who is probably one of the best dentists you can ever go to and does cavitations routinely, I sent him my panoramic xray across email and he said there were four cavitations in all wisdom tooth sites.
I believe him because the last recent two that were done, didn't seem to show up on the xray, yet I was ill right after them. And also a doctor detected gangrene in my jaw from testing me on his voll machine (EAV machine).
So I would probably need treatment for them, but am too ill to go into a dental office. I get re-exposed to mercury everytime I walk into one and become far more toxic. IT's just unreal.
