Since my extreme mercury poisoning about a year and a half ago now after having had my amalgam fillings drilled out, I know that I am having to face going back to the dentist some time in the near future. The main problem was that my mercury symptoms were mainly triggered by the vapours in the air of the drilling of the amalgams. After this I got so sick that I never went back in to get the two additional fillings that I was supposed to. This leaves me with a problem of two (or more teeth) at this time that need fillings. I know that I cannot wait forever to get them done, but at the same time, since I am only now starting to feel like a half-normal human being, I am sure those of you who have experienced merucury poisoning and feel somewhat healed and better understand what I mean by that. Even when I have the weaker symptoms now I start freaking out as I remember how hard it was to endure being completely overtaken by the poisoning and I don't think I could go through it again.

Therefore, my main question is, if I cannot locate a mercury free dentist (which is most likely the case), what precautions can I take myself, or request from the dentist which they won't find completely insane, if I have to go back into the dentist chair to get the composite fillings?

If anyone has a list of mercury free dentists in Europe, would you please post it? I am located in Belgrade, Serbia and I would have no clue on how to find one in this area.

Nina, I went to a holistic dentist who followed the protocol, but on top of that, when he was done, I drank a full glass of water with activated charcoal in it and when I got home, I took off everything that I was wearing and threw it into the wash. I had a shower and put on clean clothes.
Some of the things that I can remember my dentist doing are: 1) I wore goggles which completely covered my eyes, 2) they put activated charcoal under my tongue, 3) they put oxygen tubes in my nose, 4) they cut the filling out instead of grinding it out, 5) they used a lot of water to cool the cutting instruments 6) They covered me with a blanket so that I would get less mercury on my clothes (my idea) , 7) they used a rubber dam to block the mercury vapour from going down my throat, 8) the dentist replaced my fillings in quadrants starting with the most negatively charged quadrant . He did go in order, but he did two quadrants per visit, 9) the dentist gave me a list of vitamins/minerals etc. that I should take for the next 6 months. That's all I can think of right now.

I took chlorella for two weeks prior to my amalgam removal and continued after. Start with a couple per day and build your way up to approx 8 (check on mercola.com for dosage). They advise this because it will bind with the mercury you are exposed to and pull it out of your body.
