Hi! I found out about this website after I ordered a book from Herbal Allure by Andrew Hall Cutler, "Amalgam Illness." Found this forum and decided to check it out.
I had my amalgams removed in the spring because of terrible headaches; now the headaches greatly reduced, both in quantity and painfulness.
My 77-year old dad has early Alzheimer's. Does anyone know of Alzheimer's patients who have been helped by amalgam removal? My mother is dubious. She says he is too old.
Thanks, all!

The chemists/biologists who I've read who are studying this tend to believe that Alzheimer's is caused by or at least related to mercury. After seeing the evidence, I strongly agree.
I don't personally know anyone who has tried amalgam removal for this purpose, however, I have heard of people showing improvement with high doses of B-12. Of course, this is because of the issues that mercury causes with B-12 utilization. Unfortunately, high B-12 can also cause the methylation of mercury which converts it into a more dangerous form, so it's not always an option.
It's also important to know that mercury can come from dentures (in case this is an issue here). According to Dr. Huggins, the red coloring in dentures can contain mercury.
Certainly, the bottom line solution is to rid mercury at its source, so if anyone on this forum knows of anyone who actually tries this, I would love to know what the result is.
Hope this helps.

Hi, and welcome to the board. It is nice to meet you.
I am glad to hear that amalgam removal helped you! I am very interested too, in the connection between Alzheimer's and Mercury. I can only say that removing a poison from your body, at ANY age, I would think would prolong your life....and that in itself would be worth it. I would really love to know if the removal could reverse any symptoms, though.
My husband has no amalgams and never has, but I often wonder if he hasn't been exposed to some type of Mercury at some point (maybe a job, or something), because we have many of the same symptoms. We have often teased each other that we were getting "Early Alzheimer's", because we forget so much. Unfortunately, we are not teasing anymore. I do honestly feel that I am getting Alzheimer's at 35, and it is frightening, so any information/research I can find on it, is interesting to me.
Please do let us know if he goes through with it.

Your husband may have been exposed to other toxins or metals such as lead, cadmium or pesticides etc.

Yes my dentist is removing mercury for alot of older people...one fellow is over 80 and is getting his done, his alzheimer's has not improved, but he is not regressing as fast. His wife already had hers done also.
The trouble is that more mercury can be released and could make them worse if not done properly and if the patient is not healthy. Usually older people are more resistant to diet changes too, like removing sugar and wheat and dairy. I helped my dad who died from colon cancer last year by taking him off dairy and wheat...he ate rice bread instead..and the quality of his last 2 years was greatly improved, but he would not give up his cigarettes or his Werther toffees...
Hope this sheds some light.
Sandi xoxo

Dear Gramma Elaine, Can't really help in terms of what you are asking, but you need to think in terms of how your Dad's teeth are being cared for. If he is in reidential care, check that his teeth are being cared for by someone who knows what they are doing. So often cleaning of teeth is overlooked, and if someone on the staff is assisting your father, find out what skills they have. Ask someone to clean your teeth for you and see how it feels! Overzealous use of a toothbrush by someone who either doesn't know how . . . . . or doesn't care . . . . . can damage teeth, fillings, and the inside of the mouth. If there are mercury problems this could make the whole thing worse. Over years of visiting care facilities, this is one thing which scares me a little. Often the problem is ignorance. So if you do nothing else, review the care he is getting. Good luck.
