hi my health has been bad for 3 years and i have been diagnosed with cfs although i think docs so fed up of my range of symptoms that they said i had cfs to shut me up. My mouth is full of mercury fillings (16) and i have had 3 root treatments. I have had this weird feeling in my tongue and i feel i cant speak properly. My tongue is tingling! My legs are sore, I have had chest pains, pain attacks, bad tingling in my head, hands and feet, extreme tiredness etc etc. Dont want to bore you all to bits. anyway to cut a long stort short i think i may be poisoned by my fillings. Im desperate to get a test but can find no info of any testing carried out in the uk. can anyone help me please fiona

I have all of the same symptoms as you do, and I still have all my amalgams, as well. I am in the US, but I agree that doctors use CFS to diagnose people, when they don't KNOW or won't open their eyes and SEE what it wrong with you. I don't believe there are "mystery illnesses". Everything is caused by something. Doctors are not there to find a cause, they are there to treat the symptoms. I can't beleive how stupid I have been all these years. My GP doctor is a great guy, but so brainwashed and lost. He looked at all my symptoms, tested me for my thyroid and then gave me another anti-depressant. I really, truly expected more out of him. Please keep us updated on what happens.

Yes, I have. I mentioned first to the nurse, who said "What??? You mean by the filliings in your MOUTH?", and she gave me a really odd look. Then he came in and asked me why I think I am being mercury poisoned, and I told him I have severe short term memory problems, unexplained pains all over my body, weight that just won't come off, swollen glands, lines on my fingernails, my mouth is burning...and he just looked at me. He went on his laptop, and typed in all of my symptoms and the little computer spit out that it thought I had thyroid trouble (which I probably do) but what doctors don't understand is everything that we have wrong with us is caused by MERCURY. He felt very satisfied with his diagnosis, and had me go over to the lab to get tested. He said he wanted to test for more "common" things, before he would test for something RARE like mercury poisoning (which is such a WASTE of everyones time and MY money) . He even pricked my finger and took my blood to check for high blood sugar, and it wasn't high. Then he gave me the speech about how life can get hectic, and most of these symptoms can be caused by stress. He would like me to take an anti-depressant. I told him I ALREADY take an anti-depressant. You should have seen the look on his face. So, he said he would give me a different one, one that was stronger and would give me some "get up and go". Fine, I will humor him. I take the anti-depressant home and try it for a few days. Everyday that I took it, about 30 mintues later I started getting drowsy and had to take a nap. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> Whatever. That just confirms for me, that there is indeed something "out of the ordinary" wrong, because I don't have reactions to things the way you are "supposed" to.
Then my results came back and it's not my thyroid.

Hi fiona, i too have been prescribed anti depressants, my doc laughed at me when i said i wasnt depressed. I also live in the Uk and have been diagnosed with CFS. I never got tested for mercury, but because no doc could tell me what was wrong, i put it down to mercury. I have had my amalgams removed now and only have a few symptoms left, where as before i had over 30. Im still very ill though, it takes a while to get better. Are you on a candida diet, sometimes going on this diet can eliminate some symptoms.

Fiona, I have had three different tests - one was a challenge test in which I was given a chelator and had a 24 hour urine done, and then my mercury levels were measured. Another was a hair analysis for mercury. And most recently, my dr. gave me a 24 hour urine test for porphyrins. I get the results this coming week. Just doing a blood mercury or a urine mercury will not give you much information from everything that I have read. If you go to the Huggins website, they have a phone # - maybe they can give you a referral source in your area - or even a dr. that you can do a phone consult with somewhere else. You should also get the books that Laura mentioned above. Hope this helps.

In my mind testing is a waste of money also...metals are hiding in layers in our deep tissues....you can only chelate so much at once....and that doesn't give you any idea of what lies below the surface. My ND feels the same way, he said if you have resistant candida and metal fillings you have metal toxicity.
Get as much knowledge as you can about the precautions you need to do, research all you can find and then go to the dentist prepared and try to find a mercury free or holistic one if at all possible. Someone on here just swallowed a ton of the stuff and is so sick cause the rubber dam broke...you have to be aware of the dangers involved. And also kill the candida to optimize digestion so that you can eliminate the stirred up mercury or you could get much sicker.
Best luck, Sandi xoxo

Sandi, Just read your post about testing for mercury and you mentioned your ND. What is your ND's name? I have read a book by a Dr. Jonn Matsen and he says that mercury is the missing link for a lot of his patients who just don't seem to get better even though they are doing all the right things. Just wondered if your ND might be the same person as Dr. Matsen's clinic is in North Van. Chelan
