I think the first 6 months post removal were hell for me. It has been 2 and a half years post removal now and ive only recently started to notice real improvements. My symptoms are a mixture of mental and physical and both have improved. Good diet is crucial and supplements can also be helpful. I take Algin regularly which helps reduce symptoms for me considerably.
Andy Cutlers book Amalgam illness - diagnosis and treatment is very good, loads of useful info. I think finding out about Hg toxicity and how to help oneself is quite a learning curve, im finding out things all the time and slowly getting better.

Hi clare, im sorry your feeling like this. This is definitly a nightmare, especially as some of us have children to look after and have to keep a household running. I was also scared to detox incase it made me feel any worse and im not a strong minded person and symptoms can definitly tip me over the edge. I also have severe brain fog and forget more things now than ever and its been 8mths post removal for me. I thought i was getting better a couple of weeks ago and stupidly told people that im nearly over this illness, then all symptoms came back with avengeance. these days all im doing is crying, and feeling worthless and vulnerable, also, im falling asleep everywhere, on the trains and on the buses, even at the computer sometimes. Im also scared that i might end up like my dad, he got Alzeimers at 55 yrs, im 42. What i did was try DMSA in really small doses, 6mg every 4 hrs. it made me feel positive that iwas at least doing something to get the mercury out apart from eating loads of protein. I have now gone up to 8mg, and if im okay after a few weeks go up to 12mg. I know cavitations are a big concern, i had quite a few done, but i dont feel any different, but still glad i had them done. I was poisoned from an early age aswell, i remember geting really bad excma soon after going to the dentist, also i have been so shy for most of my life and had to have most of my thyroid removed probably due to mercury. Are you getting your cavitations done?

Hi Clare, I'm very sorry to hear what you're going through but I want to reassure you that insanity is not inevitable. The body and brain have incredible abilities to repair and heal once toxins have been taken out of the way. Also, I believe what Rich said is very important to remember, it can take years to start to feel better. There are many questions to ask to see if there is continued exposure or if the fillings were removed correctly. If you're sure they were, then taking a day-by-day approach and experimenting with supplements and diet change could be very beneficial. As Rich also said, good diet is crucial. I also would like to see if Algin would help you. You can also address the individual symptoms. Here is a link to get you started with the basic rules to follow when trying to stay healthy with mercury: Tip For Living With Amalgams Still Installed. These rules also apply to those detoxing mercury. Please let us know if you're following the rules and what else you're currently doing to try and deal with the symptoms. There is hope: "If there is a cause, there is a cure".

Hi Clare, it's not abnormal to get worse after amalgam removal. It may be the second stage of suffering, where the mercury is beginning to come out of you because there is no more amalgams in your mouth.
When there are not anymore amalgams, your body is no longer getting the daily intake and having to store it continually, now that it's not having to do this, it can begin to offload it's storage and this feels even worse than having the amalgams in your teeth.
Andrew Hall Cutler, biochemist, talks about this and says you can sometimes control this with using a chelating agent, like DMSA (available online) and taking it in a way to keep the blood levels of it even, so that it ensures safer mercury removal. This is taken every 4 hours (as Dawn mentioned) around the clock (yes even throughout the night). It must be done for a few days at a time and a break of the same amount of time you spent on it. E.g. 3 days on, 3 days off and so forth.
This helps to grab hold of the mercury that is dumping into your blood stream and making you feel more poisoned than ever. You may have to start at a very low dose as Dawn mentioned, like 6 mg, but a good dose is about 25 mg to start and if you find it's too much, you can lessen it, if you find you cope fine and want to increase it, you can, but you must make sure that you do not increase the dose until you have done about 4 chelating rounds of that dose to make sure.
Also to take a lot of antioxidants, as the mercury will be using them up in a big way. Andy mentions taking things like vitamin C, vitamin E, magnesium, B complex, zinc, and milk thistle. You can also take selenium if you want.
The candida diet is also essential, without that, the rest may not do much good, as you will be suffering both from mercury and candida at the sametime and the candida diet will starve the candida and help you detox, it can help you heal and can help you begin to absorb the supplements. It's the foundation of everything else. To my mind, this comes first, the rest is secondary.
Hal Huggins says that diet destroys more recoveries than anything else, he has a big point.
The key, according to him is to eat things like meat, eggs, butter, vegetables (no potatoes due to high starch/natural sugar), no fruit, no sugar, no honey, no milk. Having things like plain acidophilus yoghurt, raw nuts (no cashews, peanuts or walnuts though).
It's plain, but for some of us, it is the only way we can survive. Using extra virgin olive oil in salads and cooking is very good, as well as butter and organic coconut oils. These are the essential fats, and they help you to heal.
Drinking just plain water and/or herbal tea is fine. Skip caffeine etc.
Even if you try this for a couple of weeks or so and see what happens. But again, this is just some advice and you have to do what feels right for you.
