I started using it, but had to stop after a week because the die-off was horrendous and released a lot of mercury. I know this issue is contested on other boards, but my personal experience is that killing off candida will release mercury, and make symptoms unbearable. I know that mercury is being released as I get excess salivation with the die-off, which is for me an unmistakeable mercury symptom.
I have gone around in circles focusing on different aspects of amalgam illness at different times - thyroid / adrenals, candida, and the mercury itself. I have come to the conclusion that supporting adrenals / thyroid, while doing a strict anti-candida diet with some gentle use of antifungals like coconut oil, and chelating appropriately with DMSA / ALA is the best way to go. The yeast will persist until the mercury is gone, so you might as well focus on getting mercury levels down, and merely keep the candida at bay while doing so. Then, when mercury levels are lower, and you won't get acutely poisoned with die-off, you can go after the candida.
Just my two cents.
Nicola

I agree. Mercury lays the ground for candida to thrive. The danger of treating candida relates to what is lying in store inside the candida (mercury), which goes on the loose when candida is attacked. Fungus, bacteria and parasites are basically opportunists that flare up in the presence of heavy metals. So by treating candida, most people are doomed to failure from the start, because the immune system is down due to mercury.

Hi Nicola, you have the right approach and the safest one. With mercury, or in fact anything that is holding the immunity down, candida is a very good thing to tackle, but NOT by aggressively trying to eradicate it with antifungals for the very reasons you gave. Not only can it be foolish, but also outright dangerous. I have been respoisoned also from antifungal use. It killed a lot of candida at once and released a load of mercury. I had tremors, hot and cold flushing, metal taste in the mouth, muscle tics all over my body, it was incredible what it unleashed. I was lucky to be able to chelate it back out with DMSA at that time, which proved it was mercury that had been released.
So diet is the best thing, as it simply denies candida what it needs to thrive on, therefore the candida slowly reduces by way of starving and no long thriving. IN doing that, and eating the healthy foods, your immune system can improve over time and some symptoms you attributed all to mercury, may have been candida and may go or reduce to a point.
However, some people do take antifungals regardless, as their candida can be that serious and in some cases there may not be much other choice. Mercury removal is one of the keys, but that depends if it THE problem. Mine appears to be ongoing infections from jaw/gums and even a persistant viral infection, as well as mercury and possibly incompatible replacement materials. So my body is ripe for continual candida and makes my misery even worse.
I use diet, but of course, only get results to a "point" but find I'm always battling. One thing is offsetting the other, but they all need to be dealt with.
I do believe that candida should always be addressed, as it's such a terrible thing, but nobody who has an underlining problem should expect to truly get it under proper control, but they might at least be able to control it more and find they deal with their other issues better.
Some good natural antifungals are coconut oil, garlic (though I cannot use garlic supplemetns, they're dangerous to me), and oregano oil. However, again, it's wise to stick with the diet and do that for at time before ever introducing any antifungal and coconut oil is probably the safest at that point. THe other stuff? You may get the mercury release phenomenon, so be careful.

I used the psyllium/bentonite/caprol combo....that worked great for me. Just clean up the digestion first and go slow when starting any antifungals cause the candida does harbour yeast as Holocaust mentioned and it is released as you kill the candida, but if you do it slow you should be able to eliminate it if you are doing the proper diet...and that is the all important big "IF." Getting rid of the candida is important fir most all of us cause it opens and cleans up the elimination pathways that allow us to detox the metals efficiently.
But the key is to go slow, I wish I knew all this when I was first killing candida, I tried to kill it all in a week taking every antifungal in the book, lucky it didn't kill me.

Dr. Klinghardt's axiom says:
"Most -- if not all -- chronic infectious diseases are not caused by a failure of the immune system, but are a conscious adaptation of the immune system to an otherwise lethal heavy metal environment."
That does this mean? It means essentially that because mercury
"suffocates the the intracellular respiratory mechanism and can cause cell death [that] the immune system makes a deal; it cultivates fungi and bacteria that can bind large amounts of toxic metals. The gain: the cells can breath. The cost: the system has to provide nutrition for the microorganisms and has to deal with their metabolic products ("toxins"). That does not imply that the tolerated guest cannot grow out of control, as it sometimes clearly does. Therefore, there is still a limited place for antifungal / antibacterial treatment -- but only for the acute phase of the disease. A so-called "die-off effect" (the sometimes severe crisis or even lethal reaction a patient can have in the initial stages of aggressive pharmaceutical antifungal or antibacterial treatment) is often nothing else but acute heavy metal toxicity -- metals released from the cell walls of dying microorganisms as suggested by my own correlation of clinical syndromes and urinalysis for metals."
