I was taking Algin for a while and felt a lot better. The only worsening symptom was the eczema. I mentioned the algin to my D.O. and the success I was having. He was interested in what I was saying and said that he would "do some research". After talking to his colleges and the people from Doctors Data, he recommended that I stop taking it. Apparently, some people have some worsening symptoms "from the fluoride" in the powdered version of algin. I did not realize that there would be fluoride in it.
I was wondering if the Nature's Sunshine Algin was ever tested to see if there is Fluoride in it? I did have an increase in my eczema when taking it, but the decrease in brain fog and other symptoms was a trade off that was worth it for me. I just don't want to irritate my gut with fluoride though. I'm on a break from chelation right now and taking some Neuroscience products for low Serotonin, but I am considering taking the Algin again.

Anyone know about the Fluoride being in the powdered Algin?

I have never heard anything about fluoride in Algin. I'm skeptical about that.

Nevertheless, I'll have Laura contact NSP labs and see if they have any information about that.

I decided to take the algin anyway and I feel better today. I'm still curious about the fluoride thing. Let me know if you find out anything.

Yep. We're waiting for a response back from NSP. I'll let you know what we find out.

While you at it, has anyone figured out how much iodine is in algin? I know kelp (where algin is derived from) contains lots of iodine. Seeing as algin is an extract from kelp, does it also contain lots of iodine?

I've just received confirmation back from Nature's Sunshine's Health Sciences department about whether or not NSP's Algin contains any fluoride. Here's their reply:



I was not surprised at this info since I know NSP has an excellent reputation for very high-quality, high-purity products, but I was still glad to have this confirmation nevertheless.
