Hi Russ and everyone, I am mercury free for at least 6 weeks now. I completely changed my diet. No sugar whatssoever! Not even artificial sweeteners. Been caffeine free for almost 2 weeks. Gave up bread, all fours, crackers, chips too as I have struggled with candidia too. Even did a colonic treatment yesterday. I am taking a lot of cholera, vit E, selenium, Vitc, ALA and a multi. I also go in a infared sauna 2 times a week for 30 mins and sweat my butt off. However, I have to say even though I am thru the caffeine withdrawl (minor) I feel almost worse than before. Ive done colon cleanses, Dr Schulzes 5 day liver cleanse anf youd think by now Id get some relief but I feel depressed, totally lacking energy, focus, concentration and very irritable. I know I need to do DMSA at some point. What is my problem? Is me delaying the DMSA preventing me from feeling better? Or will I even feel better if I do the DMSA? Any help of feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Diane

The chlorella and ALA maybe causing the problems, they both mobilise mercury. Though some tolerate the chlorella, others do not.
ALA should not be taken at all, until 3 months post mercury removal (or 3 months post other mercury exposure). Otherwise it could make you incredibly sick! Unless it is taken at the right time in a controlled manner. As you are only 6 weeks post amalgam removal, your blood levels of mercury will still be very high, so ALA may take more of that mercury into the brain. Reason being, ALA is able to cross the blood brain barrier and remove mercury from there (and other organs). However, if you use it early one with high blood levels of mercury, the ALA could grab that mercury on its way into the brain, which may increase problems, rather than help them at this stage.
Some people seem able to do almost anything and start improving, others have to be very careful.
DMSA may help clear some of that out and may start to help you, but I'd advise taking it according to Andy Cutler's way (every 4 hours around the clock, which means waking up at night to take the doses also. You do this for a few days, then break for the same amount of days, then repeat and so on). This way it keeps the blood levels of DMSA at an even level and allows for more even and safer mercury removal. Some do not tolerate DMSA itself, but most can. You'll have to see how it effects you. Good dose to start is about 25 mg or less. You can increase later as you tolerate higher doses.
You are very possibly overdoing it and overmobilising mercury and could be making yourself very ill. Some handle it better than others. Even the sauna alone will be causing enough symptoms. Though sauna is good, I would not overdo that either. Your body needs to detox mercury, but not at a rate where it's being overloaded.
Hard to gauge how long it will be for you to feel better. You could feel better in a few months, if things go well and you're chelating in a way that suits your system. But to actually get well? That can take much longer. But you can "feel" better faster if things are done right.
If I were you? I'd drop the ALA right away (for now). You may need to drop the chlorella also, as some do not tolerate it. Some do, but you won't know unless you start from scratch and see what happens. THough you do need to detox the mercury somehow, which usually means exacerbation of symptoms no matter what you do. Key is to do this in a way that is not going to be completely intolerable.
Also, your body will be trying to eliminate some of that mercury on its own now that the amalgams are gone, so be aware of that. Spontaneous detox can erupt after last amalgams have been removed, because there is no more mercury in your mouth, which means the body no longer has to remain in "storage mode", so it can begin to dump the mercury. That can happen early on, or later on, or in stages.
Different for everybody. Taking supportive supplements like vitamin C, vitamin E, selenium (if you tolerate selenium), B complex, milk thistle, sticking to a healthy candida diet, with plenty of healthy fats(butter, olive oil, cococnut oil, cod liver oil, (mercury free brand like blue ice) and proteins like meat, eggs, liver and vegetables and then doing chelation at a pace that is tolerable to you would be a pretty good bet.
I wouldn't overdo the cleanses or flushes, because sometimes it can be too much.

Diane, Sounds like you're on the right track, but you are probably mobilizing a lot of mercury. The concept of mercury detox is maintaining a balance between mercury mobilization, which will get the mercury out, and being able to function. If you mobilize too fast, you feel horrible. If you mobilize too slowly, you never detox. Firstly, I would also never recommend the people mobilize mercury without taking Algin. This ensures that the mercury that is dumped by the liver into the intestines (90% of all excreted mercury) makes it out without being reabsorbed. Also, Depending on the approach you take, you have to plan to detox for months, or years simply because you cannot safely mobilize the mercury that's been deposited for years in a few months. Liver cleanses also stir up a lot of mercury. Detox at a rate you can handle for a long enough time that detox doesn't make you feel bad anymore. And don't forget to protect yourself with C (body) and E (brain). Hope this helps.

Thanks Bex and Russ for your wonderful feedback. It sounds like i may be going too fast. I will cut out the ALA. And Russ I forgot to mention that in my supplements (taking so many) that I am taking algin too from your co. and Im on my second bottle. Russ, do you see anything wrong with starting on the DMSA every 4 hrs? Again thanks for your time and guidance. Diane

You can drink coffee if not suffering from anxiety problems or stomach/liver issues - but not a lot of course and it should be organic - they spray coffee beans some times up to 6 times with pesticides

If someone is chronically ill then I would say it would be a good idea to try to stop the coffee. Caffeine is an addictive drug that works on dopamine. It raises blood pressure and heart rate. This may not be a problem for some, but it is not going to lead to optimal health or healing. The average American consumes 150mg of caffeine per day.
