Be careful about taking too much vitamin E. Vitamin E is a poweful anticoagulant. Especially if you are taking a large dosage of vitamin c(a more mild anticoagulant that still has a strong effect at very high doses). If you a taking over a gram a day of vitamin c then you might want to keep your vitamin E supplementation at 200 IU or less or perhaps even 100 IU or less unless a doctor specifically tells you to take a higher dosage. When I took over 400 IU a day of vitamin E and also took plenty of vitamin c I had a problem with nose bleeds. Decreasing the vitamin E to around 100 IU a day stopped the nose bleeds. Zinc is very non toxic. Some people take 30-50 mg a day , while others take more than that for short periods of time during illness. Vitamin C is very non toxic. Some say that a few grams a day spread out throught the day should be taken during illness. A more conservative approach would be to take 500 mg or a gram a day. Ester C is the best form to take. Around 500mg of magnesium a day would be a good dosage. If your diet is not high in calcium then consider also taking a gram a day of calcium. Calcium citrate or calcium ascorbate would be a good form to take.

My above recommendation should also be taken in addition to a good multi vitamin. My choice is Solgar Daily One capsules. As for iodine, use iodized salt. I suggest that you take vitamin K just for a few a few days at a time when you need it, ie if you are having nose bleeds.

Vitamin E about 400 mgs/day, mixed E.
Vit C about 2000-3000 mgs per day, ascorbic acid type.
Vit K from a multi, not 100 % daily value in there. Cabbage is high in K.
Zinc about 50 mgs per day I believe, sometimes doubled because I am always low in zinc ( mercury interference).
Magnesium, calcium daily recommended values or double a couple times a week, hyaluronuic acid (just a little it's expensive), B's (plenty in those combo supplements) a little extra folic acid
Non-iodized salt, use sea salt instead. Iodized salt contains aluminum which you definitely don't need. Supplement with a good quality kelp for your iodine instead.
I'll take supplements a few days in a row then take a day off or two, but I always use at least a little bit of C, zinc and E everyday.
Try to eat right. Stay away from sugar, do not eat hydrogenated fats ever, little to no caffiene.
I like to eat a little bit of aloe now and then too, whatever it does is good. Aloe is real easy to grow, doesn't even need much sun.
Solgar is good vitamins, I like Now brand too for some things (they make a great mixed E), just don't bother with things Like Centrum or One-a-Day. Watch out for synthetics in your vitamins, you probably don't want to waste money on those, your body won't absorb them (Like Centrum or One-a-Day).
and don't forget your cod liver oil. high in vitamin A, spirulina high in A also, and basil.

I'm not a doc but I did read the book I mentioned and that doc believes that dose appropriate iodine supplementation is good for us...especially due to our iodine deficient diet and all the chemicals in our environment. Check out that book or look up info on "Iodoral" on the net. There is a wealth of info out there. Iodine is a cure-all (believe it or not) for a lot of things....it's benefits are often suppressed by the medical community due to the fact that 1) it is a supplement and not a drug and 2) they don't get kick backs from big pharma for pushing iodine. (ya...I'm a little opinionated on this topic). Dr. Flechas (at www.helpmythyroid.com) performs the iodine tests that I mentioned in that other thread. It is worth it to check it out!
I'm a newbie...just starting my amalgam removal journey.

Would iodine possibly be of use even if thyroid markers are apparently normal?
A super-bright guy on one of the other forums (an Andy Cutler antagonist, by the way, who doesn't believe in chelation) thinks iodine is important to rebuilding neurological structures after mercury toxicity.
Is there any downside to dose-appropriate iodine supplementation?
Try the kelp, you'll like it. I think your thyroid likes to store iodine and can only store so much. It will store posions of it's not fully loaded with what it actually needs. Extra iodine protects aginst all sort of environmental radiation, which can damage your thyroid. I use 100% daily recommended value some days, double dose every other day or so.
