are there any bad side effects to algin? my mother is suffering from acute vertigo and i need to find her something to alleviate the symptom. we don't have any metal tests back yet but she went through a big yeast killing protocol last month and has been awful ever since. she has a mouth full of amalgums and i keep thinking killing the yeast released something into her system.

Yes, I've read information that has lead me to conclude that killing off candida yeast can actually make people with amalgam fillings much worse. Because she still has fillings, you won't want to use any chelators like alpha lipoic acid (ALA) or cilantro. The only thing I would really suggest would be Algin, because it won't mobilize the mercury, only absorb it from the colon so it doesn't get re-distributed. I'd also suggest large amount of a good quality vitamin C (I use Citrus Bioflavonoids (Vitamin C)). I'd start with at least 4,000 milligrams per day in divided doses throughout the day. This will help with the free radical damage mercury is doing in her body and brain. You might also want to use a good quality vitamin E supplement (one that has all the 8 components of vitamin E because each component has different health benefits). In fact, vitamin E has been shown to significantly reduce the nerve damage to the hearing and balance functions of the ear caused by drugs and other chemicals). The one I use is Vitamin E Complete. I'd also suggest that she avoid caffeine at all costs. Caffeine enables mercury to pass through the cell walls much easier. My 90-year-old grandmother was having problems with small episodes of vertigo that would come on very suddently. These episodes almost always seems to follow shortly after she drank a cup of coffee. Once she stopped drinking coffee, I think these "attacks" stopped or at least subsided to very rarely. I hope this helps. Feel free to contact me if you have any other questions.

Algin has been shown to absorb both heavy metals and radioactive toxins. Although I haven't found information that specifically refers to bismuth, it seems only logical that algin will help absorb whatever toxins are in the colon. Here's more detailed information about Algin: Algin As far as adding Algin to Cutler's detox protocol, or any others for that matter, you would want to take Algin about 1 hour away from the time you take any other supplements or detox products. The reason for this is that because Algin is very absorptive, you don't want to take it at the same time as other supplements and run the risk of decreasing their effectiveness. I typically take Algin at night before bed, first thing in the morning when I get up, and if needed, in the middle of the day in between meals (which is when I take most of my supplements). However, if you know you're going to be eating something that either might contain mercury or promote the chelation of mercury (such as cilantro), then you could take Algin with this food, to help reduce any mercury-induced side effects. For example, once in a great while I will have a small amount of salmon. If I take Algin before and after eating the salmon, I'll experience little to no mercury-induced symptoms afterwards. However, if I don't take Algin, then I'll experience anywhere from mild-to-moderate symptoms for the next 24 to 48 hours or so. Hope this helps!
