I was wondering if anyone has tryed this herb? I have recently added kelp to my diet, it has made a difference in the way I feel. Do you think the FO-TI root would be good also?

hi treva:: glad to hear that you have found something that helps you feel better, kelp is very good source of iodine for the thyroid ,I have not heard of fo-ti before ,but some other good suppliments for the adrenals are borage oil,gensing root,and astrangulas root they help to stimulate but not fatigue the adrenals

Yes, I've taken Fo-Ti, although it's better known as Ho Shou Wu. Here's some information and research I put together about it: Ho Shou Wu.

Although I haven't heard of taking Ho shou wu for the adrenals, many Chinese herbs have indirect actions that benefit other parts of the body. If you read paragraph 2, you could see how the effects of Ho shou wu could be interpreted as helping the adrenals...by this I mean how the herb helps promote a sense of calmness and peacful sleep.

Astragalus, on the other hand, has definitely been used for the adrenals and is actually used clinically for adrenal deficiency (low adrenal function). Astragalus is an amazing herb with lots of scientific research and clinical studies to support its many uses: Astragalus

They also found an increase in metal elimination after someone was consuming asparagus....testing their urine. So it seems it may aid some mercury excretion as well. I have not tried it though.
