just curoius how forum members are doing on there chelation so far , I am on my 9th round of dmsa & ala 25 mg each and would like to know what to expect for my 20th 30th and 40th rounds? or even higher numbered rounds

I have done 34 rounds with DMSA - 17mg - and feel a LOT better than I did. More energy, less fluey, some of my worst symptoms have gone. The last two rounds were with ALA, and I didn't feel anything in particular, apart from increased bloating, which is a well-known side-effect of ALA.

Despite the success, I have having to stop the DSMA for a bit <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cry.gif" alt="" /> because I think it is irritating my liver. I have Gilberts syndrome, which makes my liver very sensitive to drugs. So I shall give it and break, and chelate with ALA only for the next few months. Then I shall see whether I can tolerate the DMSA again.

I expect to be chelating for at least another 18-24 months.

25 mg each how often? How long do you wait between rounds?

I think I've done around 16 rounds, various drugs (DMPS or DMSA w/ALA). In the beginning I did great, when I got to the 6 month post amalgam removal I had an organ dump and was really ill for two months and did not chelate during that time. I then tried the DMPS challege to see where I was at and realized DMPS is just too strong for me and switched back to DMSA. I also realized I don't need big amounts to get the mercury out, so I bumped it down from 50 mgs to 25 mgs DMSA and 12.5 ALA. These seems to be the dosage that I can still function, although I can only make it through a day and a half and then I am pooped so I just do two days on and wait approximately 1 to 2 weeks between rounds depending upon energy levels. I figure if I keep plugging along its better than getting slammed so hard I can't do anything. Right now I am also seeing a specialist I got off this link http://www.geocities.com/chrisgj@sbcglobal.net/Recommended_doctors.html to help me with the fatigue because after reading about chronic fatigue, etc. I am 100% sure I'm treating the thyroid wrong and suspicious about a virus that might be lurking.

i do 3 days on and 4 days off , so far no real bad side effects ( knock on wood)

i have done about 70 rounds according to my diary, not all the same doses.
i started off with 6mg DMSA, now doing 25mg dmsa, 30mg ALA, every 3 days withouit fail.
i dont know if chelation has done me good, i do know that amalgam, vaccines, tuna, etc put my hormones out of wack and replacing/balancing them has helped in a major way.

dawn : when you say every 3 days ,do you mean 3 days on 3 days off? and do you remember around which round you increased your dose of dmsa and ala , and have you used a higher dose before that?

mikey, 3 days on, 3 off, gradually i increased doses, never been higher though, ive done ALA alone too, it makes no difference to me. id say i have taken 25mg dmsa for a year now, but ALA i only increased to 30mg from 20mg in the last few weeks. il see how it goes and increase another 10mg of ALA.

thanks for the reply dawn : balancing the hormones is tricky buisness , I have the testosterone pretty well balanced , but the cortisol is still all over the place , sorry to hear that the chelation hasn't helped you much , I start my 10th round in a couple of days and feel like it has helped so far , I also plan to increase the dmsa and ala within the next few rounds my goal is 50 mg of each and see how that go's

On round 8. Feel better and stronger, voice is better, on day one. Day 2 is kick my butt day but still stronger than before round. Dosing 10mg dmsa/4 hours. No ala yet. Had 19 amalgams removed improperly 6 months to a year ago.
