I just wanted to write a post to give hope to you all.
I had two amalgam fillings removed and root canal treatment about five years ago from a dentist who didn't use the proper protocol . I didn't realize at the time how dangerous it was and felt fine for about six months until I started to go rapidly down hill first with depression which was followed by a breast lump, over active thyroid, low platelet count, kidney stones and the usual mental symptoms that we all know so well.
Finally my nutritionist mentioned that I may have mercury poisoning and had various tests done (hair analysis and lymphocyte sensitivity test) which showed that I had high levels of mercury as well as other heavy metals in my body.
I went to see a mercury free dentist in May 2006 in Brighton UK who gradually removed my amalgams in the proper way. I felt dreadful afterwards as it affected my nervous system and made my brain fog and depression so much worse but was warned that this would probably happen.
The symptoms carried on for about a year until I went to see another nutritionist in London who specializes in heavy metal poisoning and she put me an a hardcore supplement programme for two months. (ALA, MSM, methione, glutathione,Acidopilus, Magnesium, Vit C)
After it was finished I slowly started to feel better with more energy and days when the brain fog and depression lifted. That was a year ago and I have been feeling better and better as the weeks have passed especially since the beginning of January when I've had about two short lived brain fog moments. The only supplement I take now is Alpha Lipoic Acid which seems to keep the fog at bay and acidophilus.
I have tons of energy, have never felt more confident and the depression I've had for most of my life has gone. I used to be such a shy person but not any more. I'm now the person I've always wanted to be and have finally found myself. It's such a wonderful feeling.
Please don't think that this post is written to gloat or make anyone feel worse about themselves. I just felt that people need to know that you can come out the other side healed and a healthier and happier person as a result. What we have all suffered can only make us stronger and wiser. Don't ever give up hope.

its good to see a success story,they are few and far between in this forum ,most of the time I feel like we are just stumbling in the dark trying to find our way back to better days and better health , I just had one question ? what dose and schedule of ala did your doc put you on, and what dose are you on now?

1. You said you had depression/shyness for most of your life. Did it start when you got your first filling in?

2. What type of magnesium did you take and how much and how long?

3. What type of acidophilus/probiotics did you take and how much?

Yeah nice to hear a success story. The brain fog should be fixable too. I was pretty surprised at how efficient molybdenum is against brain fog, but there are probably even better ways. The brain fog is most likely caused by ammonia, and the brains are not good at detoxing that. Hulda Clark recommends ornithine for that. Going to buy some of that stuff to test it. Having ammonia in brains means you got some pathogens there too, most likely mycoplasma. They can be dealt with ALA, like you're doing, but it won't clear away the ammonia, until you get most of them killed. I just think brain fog is annoying, and shouldn't need to be suffered from, if there are supplements that can get it away.

Thank you for your story of hope. It was very inspiring, and made me feel better about my future. I hope I can write a story to give others hope, someday, too.

Do you think 50mcg molybdenum/day will do it?

bg123, are you kidding? Even RDA is similar to that. The maintenance dose would be at least 300 mcg, while in situations where you get a die-off and things start raining in your neck, you should double or even triple that.

The UL (tolerable upper intake level) is given at 2 mg per day, but I wouldn't take more than 1 mg, if done over a longer time period. But this is 20 times more than you suggested.

Sorry for the late reply.
I had been shy for as long as I can remember. My mother told me that I never cried or smiled as a baby/child and slept all the time. I had all the vaccinations that were obligatory and my mother had and still has a mouthful of amalgam fillings so maybe that had something to do with it too. I spent most of my childhood in my bedroom not wanting to be around people and not knowing how to interact (especially in my teens)
I was recommended to take magnesium citrate which seems to be absorbed the best. I took 600mgs per day (divided into three doses and taken throughout the day)
I found that the best acidophilus I've taken is the Udo's Choice one a day.
