Many of us have identified mercury as a major problem in our lives. But there's many other contaminants that hold us back.

Lot of health researchers say that the homes we live in poison us. What would be the perfect house?

I'm not sure what the materials would be that build the house altho I have heard that there's drywall that inhibits mold growth. Maybe somebody has some info on the actual building materials.

As far as the inside of the house some of the things that would be critical are: Hardwood floors, (lots of mold and bacteria in rugs), whole house water purification system, whole house air purification system, all wooden furniture (no metal), non-metal cooking and eating utensils, (PVC for the pipes to not have metal?).

I'm sure many of us have done some of these things. Has anyone gone all the way? What other things should be done to make our homes more health user friendly?

Avoid fire retardant chemicals called “brominated flame retardants” (BFR) which are chemicals used in, amongst other things, pillows and mattresses on beds and sofa’s cushions.

In England by law pillows, mattresses and sofa’s must have BFR chemicals in them. They are super toxic. I have so far discovered my pillows, duvet and mattress stuffed full of this chemical crap…..i am sleeping much better now I am no longer battling toxins in my sleep.

I have eliminated many things that were toxic to me like the laminate flooring, and gas cooker, and only use

ecological paints
air filter in bedroom
undersink water filter with fluoride remover - just drinking water
organic bedding
organic underwear and night wear
100% cotton clothes mostly organic
no chemicals for personal use or cleaning
eco wash liquid and for dish washing
bare plaster walls at present and no carpets
organic food
natural materials metal free bed futon on floor actually
no electricals near bed


I am looking for some anti- EMF material to make my own shied over bed atm and may make an 'apron to use on computer.

It would be great to have an eco house but can't afford one. I would move anywhere to have less chemicals in the air though the levels can be worse in the house. Open windows daily.

The most important thing is to clean up the bedroom and get as many toxic things out. The bed should be organic though my futon is good quality and outgassed by now.

If there are rugs they can be outgassed in the sun but best with organic carpets or cork tiles. I am stuck with the flooring problem and don't know what to do.

If you do have ordinary carpets which contain hundreds of chemicals, you can buy something in the US to seal them. Formaldehyde is bad but can be sealed. I have turned down a new kitchen from my local council due to the formaldyhde.

It's a minefield.
Sometimes I open the windows, sometimes it's too smoggy outside,or if there's building taking place nearby,there is just too much toxic stuff coming in through the window.
And I think of the chemtrails and wonder what else is coming in too.
But I try my best,to avoid as much toxic stuff as possible,while living in the city.aaaggghhh.
I long for an eco house too,off in the wilderness with a garden filled with organic veggies,a little orchard, a bicycle
to get around on and no Electromagnetic pollution,
what a lovely lovely dream,

This is a great point James44 - what is the perfect house? If I ever find out, I will post again. But for moment, I thought I would mention to anyone who lives in an older house that the paint on your walls might have mercury in it. My memory is mangled, but I think I recall cases where people got worse after moving into a house like this. So, if you can not seem to heal, you might want to get out of your house for a week or two and see if you feel better.

I know it is easier said than done, but really, it might be worth a try. In some cases, it might be a pet, or mold, or whatever, but I have heard of some people healing just by changing environment.

Sunshine, was thinking that someday I'd like to get all wooden furniture with only a few of the chairs having removable health friendly cusions that could be cleaned.

Aren't you the individiual who get the health friendly mattress? Did you get the mattress and the pillows online or local?

Great job mati, looks like you are on your way. When you say organic bedding what do you mean by that?

I also would like my house totally EMFed. I bought these small disks to put on my computer and TVs but I don't know if they work or not. The ad said they did. LOL I guess the only way you can tell is to get a meter that measure the EMFs.

Also, what is a futon?

Tumbleweed, interesting that you said that by changing environment people sometimes heal. I've noticed that when I leave the area and go to a different climate my allergies stay behind and I feel a lot better. Of course they say if you move a compromised immune system will eventually develop sensitivities to your new environment after a few months. Organic bedding is made from pesticide free cotton. It costs more but I have found it to be really good quality. I have also got a silk duvet which is allergy free. A futon is a Japanese bed, wooden slatted base, which is folded down from a seat to make a bed, then a natural metal free pad on top. They are quite firm to sleep on. I have had to do such strict environmental controls because i am so far gone - not only amalgams, but mercury poisoning at 6 months old due to medications, then I played with the stuff at 8 or 9 then a massive dose of pesticide poisoning 17 years ago. After rmoving into a brand new house, before I wised up, I became a universal reactor and nearly died. Now I am wise <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

Other sources of toxic chemicals in the home include, gas cookers,and new electricals (they should be out gassed by running for a week away from the living are if possible. I wo7uld never buy new furniture now. Good ventilation is required in the home, which is usually much more toxic than outside, but watch for gas boiler (furnace) venting from neighbours and herbicide/pesticide spray from their gardens. Everyone will benefit from taking care int he home environment,.

Re removing toxins. Our world is full of toxins, fire retardant chemicals, food additives, household cleaning products, EMF, fluoride, dental amalgams…etc……the list is very long. Your body is continually fighting off those toxins. The more toxins in your life the more work yr body must do to battle off these toxins. If you have too many toxins and your body cannot cope with them all, you get toxic overload. You get sick and it’s difficult to heal because yr body is so busy battling all the toxins. Mercury is obviously very toxic and uses up a lot of your bodies energies defending itself from it.

The more toxins you remove from yr life, the less it has to do to get better.
