So sorry to hear that skieslimit.
if it were my kid, I give him echinacea tea, but only for two-three days max, and some zinc, and some vit C. all 3 together are great for colds.
But we've never experienced a cold here for more than 12-24 hours so I really don't know what to do past that from that angle, we've actually never had to use the echinacea more than 2 days in a row.
Checking to make sure he's having regular bowel movements would be the next thing on my list. 2 tablespoons or so of castor oil is good for babies and children to clear the bowels.
And I'd be sure he took some cod liver oil. And ate his veggies, lots of big fresh salads, at least 3-4 per week.
Licorice root is good for mouth and throat infections. You might be able to find some licorice root candies/lozenges or tea at the health food store.
Praying for you and yours, skies.

Hi Skies, sorry to hear this. I could not recover from an infection I developed last year because I kept eating bits of sugar here and there and all it did was keep the infection going or flare it back up again. Everytime I got really strict, it would seem to start subsiding, but one cheat and it woudl worsen again. All that because I wouldn't stick to the diet and I wound up receiving antibiotics and sure the infection finally went, but I've been left with a much worse case of yeast problems ever since. I'd imagine that some of this could well have its basis in mercury exposure, but that's a tough one to do much about when it's someone else's kid. I cannot imagine the mother would have him on chelation! I think garlic maybe a great one to use. Plus sosick has received help with her mercury from garlic and cilantro. However, people respond differently to those products and normally it's not advised to use an agent that chelates the brain until body levels are reduced first. However even Andy does state that some who cannot tolerate the other agents, "can" try cilantro. But again, people seem to respond differently and these are natural products, one does not need to go overboard with them either. Garlic, lemon juice, cilantro (?), vitamin C, and to make sure he gets plenty of protein and iron in meat and eggs and of course antioxidants in fruits/vegetables (oranges, carrots, broccoli etc) and good animal fats like butter and cod liver oil as sosick mentioned for vitamin A and D and omega 3. And avoiding junkfood as much as possible. Substituting it with some natural treats from a healthfood shop is what I would do! - carob instead of sweetened chocolate. Or the natural chocolate treats people have already mentioned on here. Natural yoghurt poured on top of fruit for pudding. Things like this. Oats porridge etc. There is a cilantro pesto for mercury toxicity, that apparenty tastes delicious that includes garlic, lemon juice and I think nuts as well as the cilantro. I'm sure this could be eaten straight or put into potatoes or something. http://www.awakening-healing.com/A-HNewsLetters/2003/Heavy_Metal_Pesto.htmWish I could be of more help!! I think the child needs to be removed from all sugar/junkfood and substituted with every healthy food possible, so his immunity can get the help it desperately needs and infection can be fought better. Plus if he's got mercury/candida, that too will should be helped with all this. It may not be perfect, but it's something.

I'm sorry he's sick, Rachel. I've been seeing you updating your myspace, saying what a long week it's been all the time, and I feel the same way. They just drag on and on.
I am looking into detoxing my little ones. I know they got exposed a lot from me in the womb, and then the shots on top of that, when I didn't know better. It's all the scarier, when it comes to kids. It has affected my son to the point of mild autism, and you almost can't get this kid to eat anything. There is no way a salad or anything healthy like that would go in my son. The only way I would get anything in him, would be through a drink. We have tried everything to get him to eat, and thought this was a passing phase, but it's more than being a picky eater...I believe it is part of the autism, and I blame my mercury for that.
I hope your little guy will be ok. I will be a grandma this summer. Scary as it is, thinking of ME being a grandma. lol

Hi Rachel, I had the same problems with my son when he was a toddler. Repeated infections, Lymph glands swelling in neck and stomach and enlarged tonsils, in the end they removed his tonsils and Adenoids. He also had repeated urine infections to the point where he couldn't pass water and was circumcised. His health did seem to improve a lot for while. But later in his life, he suffered major depression, anxiety attacks and never seemed well. He has always suffered from really bad mood swings and we found ourselves having to be very careful what we said to him. It's almost like he's got two sides, one very caring and loving and the other incredibly volotile and quite disturbing. During puberty he got much worse and had to go for counselling, at one point I truly beleved he was Schizophrenic. He would shut himself in rooms and have a conversation with no one there. I suspected for years that he was Gay and when he finally admitted this, we thought it would be an end to his problems. But again he seems incredibly confused himself about his feelings and I'm beginning to think there is also something Hormonal going on. Three years ago he started having seizures and has had periods of turning yellow all through his life. He is now 18 and only has ever slept for a couple of hours a night since being a baby. Unfortunately the more volotile side of him took over and we had no choice but to ask him to move out. Although I have tried, he has not contacted me since. My eldest daughter who is still in touch with him, says all his Lymph glands are swollen and painful again. When I took him to the GPs previously, a few years ago with this problem, they could find no answer. His seizures then became so severe, as ill as I was feeling, I had to drive to the hospital and spend every day with him. He finally had a heart attack and ended up on ICU. I know he still gets some seizures now. He cannot drink any Alchohol without one occuring. I worry all the time about him still, but he refuses all contact. It's weird because I was recovering from a similar illness to this when he was born. However my daughters born before and after him seem fine. The mystery just goes on and on. P.S. I know someone whose Grandson, of only 3, is suffering similarly and the GPs are shoving Steroids down him all the time. Typical. Best wishes Love Tracy x P.S. He even has lumps on the top of his head and ears, which th GP says are glands?

Dear Lisa, that's just the icing on the cake, the last year, apart from being ill and feeling pants has been the worst of my life. So many shocking and unexpected things have happened in our family, it's a wonder I'm not completely insane. I have always had a fairly stressful life, mental cruelty from parents, 2 disasterous marriages, when I've had to work so hard to keep a roof over the kids heads. Lost about 40 thousand pounds to keep one husband out of Gaol, for major debt reason. But still I was a happy and healthy person and dealt with it all. Even my work was very stressful, working with Autistic and volotile children, but I loved it, going to college at the same time. I guess I know I was pretty exhausted the year before becoming ill, but was blissfully happy with a new, fantastic partner, one year of everything I always wanted, not riches and stuff, just a fullfilling normal life. Then bang overnight the illness came and a series of dramatic unbelievable events. Such is life Thanks for the kind words Tracy xx
