Hi guys,
I'm going to try the low sulfur foods thing again soon. I reeeeeally don't want to because I already have a restricted diet due to candida and I love love LOVE the food I eat which is of course all high sulfur. There is still enough variety in the candida diet to be able to experiment quite a lot and have fun and I swear I'm in gourmet heaven every night. But . . I want to see if it helps, I am feeling pretty good these days but I'm still peeing 3 times a night which can't be good for the kidneys ?? and is probably sulfur related. Despite now having lots more energy I still have loads of symptoms. Sooooooo I'm going to try going low sulfur again in a few weeks time

I did try it before when I felt really bad and had very bad problems with digestion and from memory it helped. Back then I tended to rely on roasts with eggplant and zucchini as the only vegetables and salads. Believe me that got really boring real fast!! Any way I was wondering if others in the same plight would like to share some recipes or just share what you do. There is no where on the internet where you can find recipes that are both low sulfur and candida friendly i believe.

I have found some already that look good and I will start posting them. Some of them I saved from last time I did this. Hopefully this is something that would be helpful to others.

From what I have worked out these are the foods I can eat that are low sulfur and candida diet friendly (it is already probably one of the most strict candida diet out there). Some foods I'm not sure of and have put question marks:

alfalfa sprouts
avocado
celery
cucumber ??
rocket??
eggplant
kohlrabi
lettuce
olives
spinach??
tomato
Apple Cider Vinegar (Braggs)
any meats
zucchini
butter ?? ( not sure about butter - even though it's dairy I've read recently that its not so bad with regards to sulfur due to high fat content)

It really doesn't leave much huh!?. Some low sulfur but high carb so not so candida friendly foods are carrots, squash and potatoes which I would consider using if it made the diet more bearable.

First recipe to come in a separate post, more to come over the next few weeks.

Avocado is not a sulphur food….but many people have problems with it. It makes glutothiingimigawhatdoyacallitidon’trememeber. So be careful of this. research on Yahoo FDC if ya really want to know, but its not a sulphur food.

Cucumber is fine

Spinach is high sulphur so you need to avoid that.

Butter not sure either. Cutler says all dairy is high sulphur….so that means avoid. Maybe use coconut oil instead of butter

I been no sulphur for 7 months….you get used it it. I need to challenge myself with some sulphur foods when I get a gap in the cleanses. Its on my to-do list. would be nice to eat eggs again.

Thanks sunshine,
I know that avocado can be a problem food for many but I've never reacted to it. I figured about the spinach

Is your diet as restricted as mine? I did the low sulfur thing before but slowly got sick of it and started adding things back in due to boredom with it. I don't know if I could do it for 7 months. I had to get up 5 times during the night last night to go to the toilet which can't be normal so I have to give it a go again. It sure is annoying to have to get up so many times, but I'm not sure if it is a sign that damage is being done to my body or if its something to be concerned with. Guess I'll have to see if anything else improves along with it.

Yeah I'm not sure about the butter

this from FDC mailing list:

> Butter and ghee are not on the sulfur food list. Are they OK (sulfur
> free)as they are primarily fat?
>

They are mostly fat and therefore contain minuscule amounts of protein
or sulfur (thiols). They are ok if you are following a low sulfur
diet. Some avoid butter for other reasons (and others need butter for
certain reasons).

guess i'll just have to test it and see.

I was really sick last year. I was what is called a “universal reactor” which meant that I was so sick and full of toxins gumming up the works that virtually everything I ate made me sick for 7-10 days. I had symptoms on top of symptoms continually rolling over each other. I was in pretty bad shape. For 3 months the only food that I ate, the only food that did not make me seriously sick was salad. And that excluded all sulphur foods too. So for 3 months I only ate lettuce, carrots, cucumber, a few herbs, parsnips, beetroot…yeah…that’s about it. I was seriously underweight but any other food made me sick.

Compared to that time, this diet is piss easy. Seriously, it makes or breaks my life…the diet I eat….i have no trouble avoiding troublesome foods now…..being healthy is much more important than having an exciting diet. I’m pretty good in the kitchen now anyway…..i have learned to make my food appetising.

I am gradually increasing the food I can eat. Currently I am not eating any: fruit, sugar, honey, molasses, all processed&refined foods(incl white rice), no sulphur foods, no wheat, no diary. Yes….it is a lot to avoid….but I’m in the groove now.
My diet revolves around salad with lamb and chicken. 100pct organic at home, 90pct organic at work.

Recently I had added feta cheese, rye and spelt bread. I think sulphur foods are ok now as I muscle tested fine for them. But the real test is eating it…and that needs courage to do that, because it hurt so much eating it before. I’m not too fussed about missing it in my diet….i’ll get around to testing it at some point. I will know when the time is right. Ditto diary….i muscle tested fine for dairy these last two weeks…but again…..will take courage to eat it and take the chance I will not get sick. Everytime i bowel cleanse I lose an allergy……makes doing these things easy and reward and exciting

HI Sunshine,
Good for you, glad to hear that you have had such success and that you can now add stuff back in. I will try the low sulfur thing for 2 weeks, you are right anything I can do for my health has to be worth it even if its annoying (to me). Actually I found last time I did this that only being able to eat a limited range of things makes shopping a breeze You have to look at the positives don't you

I will hopefully be doing my first bowel cleanse soon. Customs seized the tablets believing that they contained cloves, I'm trying to convince them otherwise. I'm pretty sure that the humaworm I did a month ago contributed to my higher energy levels now. Yes it is rewarding and exciting and so nice to be able to share results with and get feed back from others!

I think I read on another thread that you are eating a lot of nuts -- or perhaps that was someone else? You might want to be careful if you have copper issues, i believe nuts have high copper? Nuts can also be moldy and hard to digest. They cause crazy stomach grumbling for me when I eat them.

Thanks for the thumbs up.

Bowel cleanses….such a strange concept???? Really was a headfunk for me….just too nasty to contemplate. When I did Humaworm, I got all this strange blank BM’s. didn’t know what it was, but I got a lot better very quickly. Then I did my 2nd Humaworm and again got this black Bm’s and again got better. I investigated it, didn’t really know where to start, but eventually figured it was mucoid plaque. Once I figured this out, I realised cleaning my bowels was a major part if me getting better. Once I figure that out I did the humacleanse bowel cleanse….and got more mucoid plaque out and felt better. Then drank castor oil….more mucoid plaque out and felt better still. Then did a colonic….more mucoid plaque and felt better still and my milk allergy seems to have disappeared now.

So now I know….”death starts in the colon.” Cleaning out the bowels is so so important. Most of the people who are healing on herballure have been bowel cleansing a bit. It is so important. I would say top of the list!

Now you too….Happy days…..you will be feeling better and better soon too.

It is so rewarding healing and getting better. Its good to share it too, so others can benefit and share in the glory . (wow…I sound like a preacher!)

From what I’ve read…. from how I understand things….herbs is the way to go. And I think those Humaworm herbs are magical. They certainly paid a large part in healing me….takes courage to start them though….because you hear so many stories…..

Humaworm just got a load more herbs on the website now too….i have the next 67 days of cleanses sorted now….My 3rd Humaworm (extra strength this time,) then a lung cleanse….the a herbal liver cleanse…..i’m so excited! It’s so nice to get better and I do like a plan.

I used to be high copper, but all ok now. All my nuts+seeds are soaked in salted water for 6-12 hours, then I bake them in a real low heat oven, 60 deg c, for 24 hours to dry them out, makes them taste great. But more importantly makes them more digestible and the vits + mins are more easily absorbed. I am still underweight and still need to put weight on….so the more the merrier. I do try not to eat too many, but soaking them like that makes me have no problems with them. I have a handful or 2 per day. Cashew, almonds, brazil, pumpkin seeds.

You must be in ………………NZ?

Well if you are a preacher we must be following the same religion lol. Researching and doing things for my health takes up the majority of my free time at the moment and it doesn't bother me at all. I actually find it all very interesting. Sometimes I'm so soo angry at all the years lost but mostly I'm thankful for the fact that I know what to do to get better now and I'm learning more all the time and feeling better all the time.

I still haven't heard back from customs. I'm actually in Australia - you were very close!

I have no problem with getting my head around the bowel cleanses after reading so many success stories. Taking the tablets and rolling with the process is easy to contemplate. I do however still find it hard to get my head around enemas. I've put it off for about 6 months despite hearing loads of success stories. I really have to get over it and just do it.

I just had a look at the humaworm website and the new herbals - very impressive! I would be interested as always to hear your experiences of them. I'll be watching the humaworm forums closely too. I gave up smoking a few months ago so I'm sure I could do with a lung cleanse. I'll have to read up more about the liver cleanse, it might be exactly what I'm looking for as I think Andy advises against liver flushes as they are too harsh so the humaworm liver cleanse might be gentle enough to try out. If customs don't come through and send my damn package I might have to give them all a miss, its a lot of money to risk if the herbs are confiscated.

I can relate to being underwieght. I've only just reached a normal healthy weight. I think I'm the 'biggest' I've ever been and it feels great. I had lost at least about 8 kilos in a matter of 2 weeks a year ago reason unknown, yet I've always eaten more than most other people including many males, - it was that rapid weight loss that finally made me sit up and take the whole candida thing seriously, which eventually led me to finding out about mercury.

Do you smoke by any chance? It was actually stopping smoking that enabled me to put on the weight. I always thought that it was due to eating more that ppl put on weight after giving up but I did not eat any more than usual after giving up. It seems that smoking really messes with your metabolism which I suppose is not surprising, and cigarettes can contain mercury! I put on 11 kilos over about 2 months after quitting.

Other things which may have helped to put on weight were improving my digestion and absorption with HCL and a strict Candida diet, probably improving my iron count helped as well. Olive oil is supposed to help too, for a while I took 1/4 cup a day, I just slammed it down straight lol.

I know it's not easy, ironically when I was teenager I tried to put on weight by eating really unhealthy sugary junk foods which would have made my digestion, pimples and all the rest so much worse and made me feel like chit in the process! And of course I did not put on a scrap of weight!

yeah me too, still learning…been hard at it for 16 months now. I have read a LOT of health books! I need to start a thread listing out the best…because there are some absolute beauties out there, that really helped me understand.

close…. but no cigar!

I never had much luck with enema’s. Now I have done a few colonics, I’m happy with them….get someone else to do the dirty work…LOL. Colonics are much much more effective anyway.

I have done loads of liver flushes and I confirm they are heavy duty. My last took 3 weeks to recover from…I will use herbs/castor oil packs for cleaning my liver out from now on. Cutler is right, mercury people should be careful with liver flushes. I think a few should be ok, to get a lot of stones out quickly….but I did 10 and that’s more than enough….time to give something else a chance….humaworm herbs are next.

I can recommend a fabulous book all about liver cleanses if u want.

Do you smoke by any chance?
I gave up smoking cigarettes 10 years ago. It remains the hardest/most difficult thing I have even done, even after all these troubles. I gave up the wacky backy just over 2 years ago too (I smoked that long term…every day for over 15 years.)

I am clean as a whistle now

Yes I would love to know what book you recommend for liver flushes.

Yes giving up smoking is hard. I didn't realise how hard it would be. I went through a period of grieving almost lol and I would wake up realise I couldn't have a smoke and think, 'well what's the point of getting out of bed or even living'. You really don't think you can continue your life without it at first, you really don't think that life can be enjoyable again. Pathetic but true!! So nice to be free.

Ok, book. ummmm….the book I am recommending is a bit of a beast. I have read 40-50 health books over this last 16 months. Some good, some rubbish, some average and some totally awesome and unbelievably good, some so good that they completely changed the way I understand my body and completely changed the way I go about healing myself up.

This book recommendation is one of those life changer books. I think this is top-my-list of all of the alternative health books I have read. Above Cutlers books.

It is BIG, it covers a lot of things, but you cannot fail to learn so much that will help you get better, and get better quicker.

I certainly don’t understand some of the things in there, I certainly don’t agree with everything in there, but the vast majority is fabulous and greatly helped my understanding of what is require of me to heal. He explains things very clearly and very well.

I know a couple of others that are currently reading this book on Herballure and they are enjoying it. I am currently re-reading it. I promise you I don’t re-read books unless they are worth it.

This bloke is one of the best/biggest advocates of liver flushing.

Please remember, Cutler says liver flushing is too powerful for us mercury toxic people (and I agree with him) and that vegetarians reportedly don’t get better from mercury illness.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Timeless-Se...ks&qid=1209277477&sr=8-1

I know its expensive, but I promise you that is cheap for a book with so much info and that is so very inspiring too.

We use echinacea to heal cold sores and canker sores. I actually have never had a cold sore in my life, (had one try to start once) but I have had plenty of canker sores, before we grew echinacea that is.. but my daughter picks up all sorts of stuff at school so she complains about something sveral times a year... anyway we take some fresh or dried echinacea, chew it slightly to start releasing the good stuff in there and just sort of push it onto the sore and let it sit there as long as you can stand it. Generally heals canker sores and things of that nature overnight.

You should definitely consider putting some echinacea into your flower beds if you get that type of stuff, it will end your misery forever. You can use echinacea tea in the meantime, rip the teabag open and chew the dried herbs.

Echinacea is a bit difficult to get started the first time but worth the trouble. You can order seeds online. I like the purple coneflower type the best. You have to keep it cold before seeding it, keep it in the fridge wrapped real good for 2-3 weeks, and then seed it into a little pot. Use lots of seed, you just need two to sprout. To get difficult stuff to sprout, especially teeny tiny seeds I use a little spray bottle and mist the soil a few times a day, never fails. Echinacea is a pretty big seed but I would still use the mist techinique, as well as keeping the soil moist all the way through. You will love having echinacea in your garden, we never get more than a sniffle during flu season here, thanks to the echinacea, so many uses for the echinacea. Don't overdo eating it though because then it may not work for you when you really need it.

The fresh baby leaves are some of the best for drying, and the roots of the baby plants that come up year after year once you have a couple established flowers. I have already started picking the leaves of this years sprouts to dry for the winter. Have them sitting on my porch on the sun right now as a matter of fact. I cut the root parts into little bits when they are fresh and tender (they get real hard when dry) and dry those too (not from the main plants, from the sprouts). The dried echinacea seems just as effective as the fresh stuff. Echinacea is very similar to penicillin, it's a natural antibiotic, a must have on my shelf, works wonders for us. Just use when you need it though because using it too much does have the same effect as overuse of any prescription antiobiotic (overuse can cause the superbug syndrome, actually weaken your immune system).

but anyway it's two main uses in our house is cold/canker sores and sniffles/flu. I felt a pretty hefty chest cold coming on last week out of the blue... I drank 3 cups of echinacea tea (from fresh leaves this time) that evening sitting on the couch... I started feeling better, much better, within 2-3 hours of starting the tea.. I never did get the cold, it was pretty much gone the next day.

no knowledge of low sulfur foods here though

....death starts in the colon!

No kidding it does. And with all the gross stuff i've relayed to you about my experience here... I haven't really even dared get into all the gory details of all the sickness I've seen exit from that end the past few months. No black gunk though, lack of words for the rest.
