Hi Everyone, Man I have to say I am so fed up with the medical profession. Im am so sure that I have a low thyroid problem. Comeon, my symptoms are no energy, poor concentration, cold intolerence, hair falling out, No Sex Drive (not diminished but Nada, Zilch, Zero), PMS , irritablity and my early morning temperatures under the armpit before I get outta bed are as follows: 97.3 97.0 96.4 96.6 96.3 These are this weeks numbers and they are worse (lower) than 2 weeks ago (all in the low 97s). OK Im sick and tired of being sick and tired. I called to get in to see a DR.(which I typically avoid like the plaque cause they just want to pump me with antidepressants). Couldn't get in so I went to urgent care hoping they'd refer me to an endocrinologist. NO, they took my blood, again (went through this 2 yrs ago and everyhting was "normal"). And again today my TSH came back "normal" and they say I don't have a goiter so Im probably not low thyroid and "blood tests are pretty accurate". Accurate my butt, everything I have read on this subject shows they are NOT accurate! I just want help! And I want to use my insurance so I can benefit so if I do need something it will cover it. They said the T3 and T4 results will be back in on tuesday (3 days). It is maddening when everyone thinks its "all in your head"! I know my adrenals are bad and have low blood sugar along with merc poisoning that Im healing from but what the heck to I do now? Should I go back to my primary care physician (another one) and insist I get a referal to the endocrinologist? I wouldn't be surprised if there was more hormonal issues going on too. Pray I don't shoot these conventional medicine Drs. Sorry if I seem whiney Ive about had it though. Id appreciate any in put. Im tempted to just buy my own Armour and try it out for a month. Thanks you guys for listening. Diane
PS. By the way, since when is hair falling out, being cold all the time, and low body temperatures a symptom or sign of depression?

Bex, Thank you very much for the link here. I'm sharing it with my sisters, one of which has Graves Disease. She's at her wits end with it. This will help my entire family. Thank you!

Jinx, I know the feeling.. It makes me worry about future care with them. How much do they know (or not know).. Those poor people that really listen to them without checking it out on their own.
Guess I've gained something out of this, If my family's sick, I sure will research it on my own before taking their advice..
Got to work hard and be your own advocate, or else it could be hit or miss with them... Beth

Thx Bex, Mati and Bann, Wow I didn't know that if you had merc illness that would do something to the hypothalmus to where the blood tests come up normal for thyroid! That was actually quite encouraging to me; to know that maybe Im not crazy like the Drs think I am or just a hypochondriac (depressed one!). Well, I started taking "thyroid essentials" for the last two days which has ashwaghanda, bladderwrack, L tyrosine, selenium, iodine and other vits. This morning my wake up temperature was 98.1. HMMM... its been between 97.4 and 96.3 the past couple weeks. It seems thats already helping. I browsed at Vitamin Shopp today and also found a Raw Thyroid supplement (from organic bovine source) like Armour. I decided to give it a try. It was only 15 bucks. My husband was all for it especially when I told him that my sex drive is directly related to my thyroid problem. I pray it works! Thanks you guys for your insight and guidance. take care, Diane

Jinx, I would recommend getting a saliva test done for cortisol. Once you know what your levels are, you can treat the hypoadrenia if indeed you have it, and then you'll be able to address the thyroid problem too.
Best wishes, Linda.

You're welcome Diane <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Yep, mercury can bugger up all these things and in actual fact, it's one of the main problems it causes, which is why we suffer so much from mercury due to what it does inside the body with the glands and everything else. started taking "thyroid essentials" for the last two days which has ashwaghanda, bladderwrack, L tyrosine, selenium, iodine and other vits. This morning my wake up temperature was 98.1. HMMM... its been between 97.4 and 96.3 the past couple weeks. It seems thats already helping. Yep, this is not unheard of. I was helped by iodine, selenium, magnesium, within only a few days. My body needed the iodine that desperately that the change was near instantaneous. However, it's no substitute for the diet. I can't rely on iodine to fix my problems because they run MUCH deeper, but it has helped. The fact your temps have gone up is a great sign. I wouldn't overdo it with taking too many things at once. Sometimes taking iodine as well as thyroid hormone can cause some issues. You may actually find the iodine and other supplements does more than enough. Read the links I sent carefully about this issue. My husband was all for it especially when I told him that my sex drive is directly related to my thyroid problem. lol!

Dianne, you can try supplements to boost T3 like Selenium, Iodine. Other supplements like forskolin also promote T3. You can research "wilsons temperature syndrome" also and check http://drrind.com/Cheers

Sorry to add a little more here to your troubles, but, over many years I went to such doc's and only with perseverance have winkled out the answers to my problems.
Take into consideration that Hg affects the enzyme that converts T4 to the more potent T3 thyroid hormone. Therefore, taking synthroid (T4) will only have a short term affect on your symptoms before you start to wonder why you're taking these meds. The root cause is the Hg.
Parasites such as Giardia and Amoebas, depending on how infected you are, will shut your thyroid down. In fact I know of at least two doctors that treated their patients by, not prescribing thyroid meds, but by treating the parasites. They release chemicals to suppress your immune system and neurochemicals etc. Proper little chemical factories, all so they can reproduce.
The root cause of my massive infection turned out to be Hg poisoning. The Hg suppresses the immune system in your intestinal track and therefore leave the parasites to multiply uncontrollably, even with a very small exposure. My brother also suffered from dysentery, and he always lived in England, never went to far off lands. Considering these little beasties have evolved (Darwin again) they have no fear of Chlorine any longer and can readily be found in swimming pools.
Something worth taking into consideration.

Can you provide any further details about the above-mentioned enzyme, and how mercury affects it? (Any articles or links you can share, perhaps?) I have been on T3/T4 and iodine for about three weeks and it has not helped at all yet. ~ Thanks ~

Thank God for doctors! I went to see one on Monday and If it wasnt for her I would never have realised that my symptoms are purely pyschological! waiting room time: 35mins consultation 7mins (1st time there) one glance at me really, one quick glance, over the top of her glasses you know and the rest of the time looking at some paper on her desk,no blood pressure check no nothing... cost :50 euros "see you now...next!" What a waste of time ,money and energy, then she suggested I get a mercury level blood test. When I explained I could not fast for too long (for blood tests, because I get low blood sugar),she asked if I was diabetic,I said no,she said you'll be fine just eat a cracker!before the test. She gave me a blood test sheet to take to hospital to get the tests and did not mark the tests I'd requested and so I ticked the boxes myself. To the untrained I look fine most of the time but it took me most of a day to rest up before I went and the next day exhausted after it.That's just not good enough. another thing when I got to docs there were 3 people before me so that works out as 200euros for 42mins work, does that sound nuts to anyone else? Oh yeah and as usual (doctors always ask me if I'd like to "go on the pill" she offered me the contraceptive pill what the

Sunflower, this is disgusting, but sadly not uncommon. This is why the internet is the place we come because of the ongoing failure from many doctors. Many of them have been almost completely useless to me, except when it was something typical, easily recognisable textbook stuff. I spent years trying to get their help and all I got was utter bullsh*t, except by one or two that were at least somewhat alternative and one got me onto yeast.
But apart from that? I was put on antidepressants, the blood tests never showed anything wrong, so therefore nothing was wrong. I was sent to anxiety groups, psychologists etc. Anybody looking at me would know something wasn't right, i was often very pale (almost grey sometimes). One alternative doctor recognised I was sick just by my appearance and he got me working on candida which helped immensely, didn't cure me, but saved my life.
However, even then I had to do it on my own. I was told all kinds of things - emotional blocks, mental blocks, that it stemmed back into my childhood (I had a wonderful childhood by the way, luckier than many kids), that it went further back than that and started even before I was conceived (yep, I kid you not and that somehow I had resentment). Another one said "I wonder why you chose mercury?" (as a way of saying that I made the choice to suffer this before I was even conceived).
Just like you, you can wait for half an hour or more to get into see them, then get about 10 minutes of their time and you're out the door with a huge bill and zero satisfaction and this seems to be getting worse and becoming more common. I stopped going to them a long time ago, I only go now to get them to fill out my 3 monthly medical form. THen I steer clear, unless I have some severe infection or something that may require medical intervention.
There is a lot of greed. I've seen it all too often. I don't class them all under that catagory, but there seems alot that are. Some will charge as much as they can possibly charge, even to patients on sickness benefits that can barely afford it. One 10-15 visit to my doctor actually wipes out a big chunk of my weekly income (benefit). This is why I stay away. Just a phone call alone will do the same, even to find out something or because something was forgotten and I had to phone back. Wham, a bill arrives in the mail. I've had to try and find another doctor for times I cannot afford to go to my other one.
lol about the contraception pill!!!! GOOD GRIEF!!!!!! I remember a doctor put me on the contraception pill as she felt it might 'balance me out more" (I did not have a boyfriend either) and it made me sicker than ever, so I took myself off it. They're almost hell bent on on medicating. Whether antidepresants, the pill, anything, anything at all. ONe wanted me on cholesterol controlling drugs and I said "NO". The drug companies are milking it!
Don't get me wrong, there are some cases where they can actually work out for a person, but many times I have heard they are far from good, cause many side effects and can make other problems much worse or CAUSE other problems, then they get more drugs to help with what the other drug is causing and so it goes on. My Grandfather died from over-medicating by doctors, it affected his kidneys and that's what killed him. He was taking so many a day, it looked like a bowl of smarties! One of them caused hallucinations too.

Aaron,
You are right... I'd also read that Doctors are supplied their books and study guides from the pharmaceuticals companies. Isn't that a real kicker for us. Money is the root of all evil...
