Im so scared to use ALA. It makes me suicidal everytime i use it. Has anyone made progress using any other chelation method?

I'm sorry to hear this. It does sound like it's definitely doing something though, or you would not get such effects, as it is just an antioxidant. What dose did you use and what was the timing? you've probably told me before, but my memory isn't too good.

Some people have main progress with cilantro. It's an alternative if you cannot handle ALA. I would probably take DMSA though if you can (every 4 hours), because I don't know if cilantro is an agent that hangs onto the mercury too well. You may need something with it.

Bex may be right, I would just add that you may want to make sure you have some sulfur available while using cilantro (I used chlorella), and as always, Algin.

I've gotten considerably better without doing chelating. I was using a sauna somewhat frequently though. Saunas can be a very good way to get rid of mercury.

I am considering trying ALA chelating though, as I still know I have mercury in me and it seems like a good way to get it out.

Stuart, what dosage of ALA have you used? Did you use it with DMSA? I did 6 weeks of chelation using 50 mg ALA every 3 hours, 3 days on 4 off. The first 4 weeks went well, but the last two weeks were horrible. When I start chelation again, I plan to use just 25 mg of ALA.

Licorice root can help quite a bit with depression. Many people have trouble tolerating St. John's Wort.

Have not started chelation yet. I am still cleansing clearing the pathways so I can start chelation. Just doing the cleanses and therapies I have already gotten so much better. I have done 3 colan cleanses and a liver flush. Next up is kidney flush and another liver flush and have also done 5 parasite cleanses. These have all made a big improvement as well as diet and all my supplements. I am now beginning to see a little muscle back on these bones and alot more energy. I also do cilantro and garlic every once in awhile and I take algin every day. Just thought that might help give ya some hope. Also I have been doing a body wrap and foot soak with betonite clay once a week as well as colonics perodically and this really helps me big time. Castor oil pack also works wonders. All of this helps so much ya might give it a try when ya have the time. Any questions just ask away.

I only could get through about 17 rounds of low dose dmsa ,just felt like it was making me worse every time I used it and if I added ala to it It was down hill very fast , sounds like we share the same problem with chelation, I have been doing natural detox and have made way more progress than while doing chelation , I eat high sulfur foods like eggs, broccolli,and cabbage these seem to help me quit a bit,

mikey, what kind of symptoms did dmsa give you to make you feel worse. i am thinking of starting dmsa on the cutler protocol but now you've got me worried. how many people get better on the cutler protocol anyone any idea?

Most people get well, however it could take a year or two. Many feel worse before getting better. ALA is needed to get the mercury out of the brain and nervous system. If you want to use DMSA, then starting with just DMSA and adding ALA after a month or two might be a good idea.

According to Hal Huggins many people have gotten completely better without using chelators.

If you eat healthy, and get enough nutrients to correct deficiencies that were caused by mercury (I'm thinking magnesium, selenium, iodine, etc..) then I do believe you can make a complete recovery over time without DMSA or ALA. Supplementing is really important to help this process out. Eating healthy fat is also crucial as bile is one of the natural ways the body moves mercury out of the body.

Though I do believe ALA is very good at what it does, there are other ways but they will probably take more time.

hi dudley smith : to answer your question, my worse symtoms were depression and feeling between the flu and a bad hangover during the day time hours I would feel better in the evening , I did not do well on chelators , but that is not to say that you will have the same effects, every one is different , you may do well on them , the trick is to start out at a very low dose , low and slow

I didn't know that about licorice root!! Maybe cause it helps with blood sugar?? I know a breakfast of chocolate can make for a moody day for me.... (And yes - I have been that stupid)

jk98, i don't particuarly want to start with dmsa because i think i have a lot of mercury in the brain,but the AC protocol says that its correct to start with Dmsa doesn't it? to reduce the body burden so as to have less chance of taking it into the brain when you start on ALA.

gdawson6, I can't see how you'd get better without getting the mercury out, i can understand the supps helping a lot but surely the mercury would still be poisoning you if it wasn't taken out the body.Its a nuro toxin its going to keep attacking the brain and nervous system isn't it? dudley.

Hi Dudley, many "brain" symptoms can actually be caused by mercury in the liver and other organs. It doesn't mean brain mercury, simply because you may get brain symptoms and vice versa. Sometimes brain mercury can cause body symptoms (e.g. hormonal and yeast problems etc).

DMSA for me, when I was mercury toxic did the job for the most part and my brain symptoms went away (or what was creating psychological symptoms). Liver toxicity and other organ toxicity can create psychological symptoms.

It is wise to start with DMSA, because the body areas are good to chelate first and some find DMSA may do more than enough on its own if they do not have significant brain mercury. Best to be certain and clear body first, before using a brain chelating agent, that might pick up more mercury from the body areas and bring it across the blood brain barrier into the brain (if you haven't first reduced blood/tissue levels).

I never said you didn't get the mercury out! You just don't use chelators. The body, eating a healthy diet, is able to detoxify from mercury on its own. This process is usually slower than if you use chelators. Mercury is excreted naturally in bile, which is produced in larger quantities if you eat healthy fats. Our bodies are capable of amazing feats if we believe in its healing power and don't let the mercury make us feel hopeless!

For instance, my mother, for cosmetic reasons, got her amalgams removed 5 years ago by a normal dentist (which was her friend) , not following safety procedures and did not do anything to detoxify mercury and she is healthier than ever at 50 years old. She doesn't even eat a good diet and she smokes and drinks but she has faith in god and is very dedicated to her kids and being the best mother she can be. I did not know she even had this done until I told her I got my amalgams removed over 2 years ago...then she casually mentioned that she got hers removed too, not knowing that it could have been the reason for her health getting better.

Diatomaceous Earth. All the animals on the ranch love it. The horses actually lick it off the bottom of their big food tub. It should be good for removing parasites and heavy metals.

This cute friendly cat that comes around seems like she had some worms because she was pretty thin so I started mixing some D.Earth in some fresh goats milk and she likes it as well.
