http://www.coldcure.com/html/warning.htmlZinc deficiency for Mercury and other leads as well? It appears this is VERY MUCH needed Wormwood, I have to start taking some everyday becaue I am deficient. I drink beer, that really makes it leave your body unfrotunately! I know I shouldn't but hey we all have a vice in life and do bad things for us (I am not an alcoholic though lol, just a few day not all day). I mnight try this home test if I can find some Zinc sulfate. Good post.

I found a product for sale in Australia that sorts the whole zinc problem. I am trying to work out how I am going to pay for it but really want it. http://www.ethicalnutrients.com.au/ZINC.htmlIt's nice to be able to test yourself for something and adjust as necessary rather than relying on outside tests.

Wormwood, you don't necessarily have to buy the zinc tester. When I asked about zinc at my local vitamin shop (in Canberra) they brought out a zinc tester like the one in your link above and tested me with it for free. I'm not sure how accurate they are but I would suggest trying that rather than buying.

I got my zinc test and used it. I am a little unsure about the result. You sit it on your tongue for 10 seconds. Dosen't say whether to swallow it or not.
I didn't tast anything while it was on my tongue and I immediately had strange tastes around the back and sides of my tongue, after swallowing, but still nothing on the main area of my tongue.
If it says you taste something immediately, do they mean as soon as it's put on your tongue or after the 10 seconds and you have swallowed it?

I just usually check my nails for this, white spots on your nails or lines in them mean a deficiency, I remember having that in high school but now it has been gone for a while. Guess the Chlorella I used for years which is high in it did the deficiency in for a while. My sense of smell and taste is dull though, thats another way to tell without a test IMO.

I don't have the white spots and haven't for years despite being on a low zinc diet all this time. it's not a good indicator.

You are probably right, I used to get them in high school but not such since, although I feel with no taste or smell I have low Zinc in my body. I drink beer like I said this makes you excrete Zinc. I will probably take 30mg of Zinc Citrate a night just to be safe.
