Hi Everyone, I am as always still battling the candida thing. It seems to be under so much better control when I don't do any sugar but really cutting out even fruit and other relatively harmless foodstuffs seem impossible for a lifetime. Last summer I entered into the early menopause (eractic cycles and emotional upheaval)and my OB put me on a very low dose of birth control (loestrin)to stabilize my periods and help with moods. Well it seemed to help but instead of getting one period a month I get two. Every two weeks. I have squauked about this because at least I know when they are coming. I hate menstral surprises! Now I really want to combat the candida beast but I'm wondering how much the BC pill contributes to the candida. Should I just get off of the pill? If I do what do I do about regulating my cycle? Im reluctant to go back to my OB cuz they just want to pump you with drugs. I am on a herbal supplemnt also too. Any thoughts? Thanks for your consideration. :)Diane

Hi Diane, I'm sorry to hear this. As my memory is not too good, do you still have any amalgams? If you have had them removed, have you undergone chelation? Mercury is one known poison to cause early menopause in women, as young as 20 something years of age. Usually and typically though around early 30s or so. It's a sod of a toxin and can cause hormonal imbalances and all kinds of menstrual problems etc. Candida can disrupt things also. In combination, there is an ongoing problem for many people, which is why both should usually be treated, not only for symptom relief, but eventual improvement and hopefully recovery. I myself was put on birth control at age 21 to help "balance" things out. It did nothing for me but make me worse. This same doctor than shoved me on antidepressants. Her answer was medication medication medication, never a change in my diet or lifestyle and for that, I became a worse mess for the effort. More toxic and more miserable. Yes, the birth control pills contributed to my candida problems and this is what I have also read in some candida articles, that plus steroids and antibiotics etc. Diet made a huge difference. Diet did what all those medications failed to do and never had the side effects either. But diet may not be the cure if you have an underlying issue going on, which is hampering full recovery. As it wasn't the cure for me, but rather an aid for my body and a healthy one too. I see in your case, you have already been treating candida and using the diet. Finding out what works for you and perhaps some do need more high carb foods than others, but certainly the worse culprits appear to be sugar/wheat/gluten and yeast. Some do get away with non gluten grain, and some fruit and high carb vegetables, but it's usually wise to be cautious with them. I do badly on high carbs and it messes me up for a long time after consuming them. So I don't have much choice but to do high protein, low carb diet. I don't know enough about the issues you're talking about here, but I wonder if this link might lead you to some helpful information. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2004/08/28/health-menopause.aspxIf you follow and read the information down to the bottom, you will see other links there that you can click on to find whatever you are looking for.

Hi Bex, Its nice to hear you again! I was away from the forum for awhile going thru difficult marital problems which were all consuming. Thank you for the feedback and I love Joeseph Mercola! In answering your questions yes all my amalgams have been removed for alomost two yrs. And yes I went thru chelation.. I think it was 8 or 9 months of DMSA and ALA. I am 45 now , the perimenopause kicked in while I was still 44. So Ive been on the low bc pill now for about9 months. I'm nervous to quit the loestrin cuz mostly it may have helped balance me emotionally, but I am on celexa (antidepressant) at full dose again. Im tempted to go off the pill, do a rigid diet change stay on the AD's right now and pray! Maybe the reason I could never get rid of the yeasty beasty is becuase of the bc pill. I was also on the pill for 5 years before kids. That of course didn't help. So maybe I could do some progesterone cream or something. Decided to add threelac too, its on its way. I heard really good things about it. It seems like its imperative that one gives up gluten and wheat with candida- not just sugar and yeast. Is this true? Thx Bex for all the help (my resource center) I will not give up. I can do all things thru Christ who strengthens me! Take care! Diane
