Hi everyone,
6 days ago I went off the birth control pill that my OB put me on because I entered perimenopause-balance my hormones supposedly. Well battling candida for so long and not able to beat it led me to stop it. At the same time (6 days ago also) I quit all sugar and fruit and have been on a very strict candida diet. Now my face is breaking out. Im trying to figure out if its me stopping the BC pill or the yaest dying in my body or toxins being released. I hope it goes away soon. Does anybody have any experience with this or know anything? Thx, Diane

Hi Diane,
Either way, it sounds like the eruption and release of toxins. Possibly from both withdrawal from the pill and candida die off. I remember my face breaking out when so many toxins were being released at once. It is one way the body is able to eliminate them. Via the skin. This can be in the form of rashes/itching and/or breakouts.
Quitting all sugar and fruit and other high carbohydrates like grains, honey, potatoes/corn/peas/beans/carrots, etc can be more than enough to cause quite powerful die off in the beginning. That plus quitting the pill.
The pill encourages candida. So it's just one more thing you've eliminated from creating a worse candida condition. Now that these things are gone, then the die off is able to start. I hope that you can keep this up and not give in. Sticking to the plan is crucial if you want results. Cheating will usually result in relapse, particularly in the first few months where healing is taking place.
There may come a time when enough healing maybe done for you to try yourself with natural higher carb foods and check for reactions before adding them back into the diet on a daily basis. I'm not sure how long it takes to "cure" candida (or have it under enough control), before a person can start to experiment. It also depends on what other issues a person maybe dealing with.
Ironically it is often candida (and mercury) and other toxins/chemicals that can actually CAUSE hormonal imbalances and early menopause.
Make sure you get enough proteins and animal fats in your diet. These helped me a lot and do much to heal. Eggs, meat, butter, lard, fat on the meat with the meat etc. These are good for hormones! They have helped me quite a bit. I am on a strict diet too and cannot eat fruit, grain, milk/cream, coffee, high carbohydrate vegetables, etc. I make it up by consuming enough low carb vegetables, meat, eggs, butter/extra virgin olive oil/lard/fat on meat with the meat etc. It has enabled me to have a more normal weight.
It can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months to start noticing changes in my experience. Recovery isn't always fast and yeast is persistent, particularly if you have low immunity and are battling other problems at the sametime. It's different for everybody. Some can notice differences pretty rapidly, even after about 2 or 3 weeks (maybe even less in some cases). Some may take a couple of months or more.
Hang in there and resist the cravings. Consider it a battle. Fight it out if you have to and go with it. The cravings are not easy, but they are a big sign that your body is battling and excessive yeast is being reduced. When this happens sometimes you will experience a craving for the very things that yeast thrive upon. High carbohydrate containing foods. I remember nearly tearing my hair out with cravings when I first went on such a diet and paced the kitchen crying. It was like an addict. I was a mess and I kept opening cupboards over and over and then I'd shut them.
I had headache and everything. I stunk from so many toxins that were coming out, that my clothing, even after being washed still had a chemical odor to it. It isn't just yeast toxins that are released through die off, other toxins can come out as a result of the better diet also. It is amazing! Even a certain amount of metals can start being released. Though I found exercise helped that process along and started unleashing them from fat cells and everything.
But if you can't exercise through being too tired during this process? That's ok. It is more important you rest and heal. But if you can do some walking? Great. Especially when you start feeling better, walking is probably the best. I use my treadmill regularly now and it's just been a total GODSEND. The best piece of exercise equipment I've gotten. I walk without worrying if I don't feel ok, or it's raining, or I want to listen to my music.
I put it on a slight incline (not too high) and it just gives me extra work out. The treadmill was a bit part of helping me with mercury too. I found when I first started using it, I started making even more progress with detoxing. I was very surprised at the changes it made.
Rebounding on a mini trampoline (rebounder) is also great.

Thanks Bex, you are so good about replying and helping out. Boy you've been thru a lot! Are we all just walking toxic machines? Man, what we have to go thru to get healing! I appreciate the input.. I had a feeling the breakout could be from both. I do have an infered sauna so Im doing that twice a week to help detox. I don't eat any of the carbs you mentioned ie potatoes, fruit, honey, corn and peas. Im craving some chips and salsa though. How long do you think I need to be off the fruit? Is it even bad to eat fresh grapefruit? I am eatting plenty of protein: eggs, chicken, meat and lots of butter too along with lots of veggies. Also I force myself to do weights at the gym 2 dys a week and I walk here twice a week as well. (Its actually my prayer time). Still the excessive tiredness is bad. I hope I can snap out of it. My kids think Im a deadbeat. Anyhow, thanks again Bex! Diane

HI Diane, You're welcome I know how it feels and candida has been a big part of my life due to ongoing health problems from mercury, virus and possibly hidden cavitations. Many reasons for a challenged immunity. Saunas can be very helpful, so long as you don't overdo them and make sure you are replacing minerals. Sweating out toxins from deep tissue is helpful. As is the exercise I mentioned. Stay away from chips and salsa and things like that. Though the cravings are difficult, it is necessary to battle through them regardless. Try and make sure you fill up on the things you CAN eat. Don't let yourself stay hungry for long. Cravings are not true hunger anyway, but often withdrawal and candida dying off. But you can help this a little by making sure you're full up on the safe foods. I'm not sure how long you will need to be off fruit, but it maybe for months or more. Depends upon your response to the diet and how much progress you make, as to whether fruit will be tolerated or not. Excessive tiredness can also occur during healing and die off. It can last weeks or more. It is difficult to endure because the body's energies are now concentrating on healing. This is often why intially I get weak muscles, aching and tiredness as the energies are being used elsewhere for healing. It is a process of healing and not normally a quick fix. Your diet sounds good to me. Make sure you eat enough and supplements can be helpful also. Rest is also important during the first stages of healing. Exercise is good, but generally it's better to wait until you feel better from the diet before engaging too much in physical activity. Because again, energies are being used on healing and coping with die off. Though again, moderate exercise maybe helpful a few times a week, so long as you don't overdo it. Cheers!

Cheers back to ya Bex! Once again, thank you! I'm beginning to think my symptoms (more recent ones this week like withdrawl, depression, fatigue, and extreme irritablity are my hormones no longer being balanced from the BC pill. I realize this because I've have done many candida diets and have never experienced these particular extremes. Also, my diet wasn't bad before I started this diet-ya fast food once in a while w/ out the bread but I stayed away from a lot of sugar.. my indulgence 1-2x a week was an allfruit Jamba juice. Blueberries, bananas and whey protein plus ice. Yum!!! I miss those. I know the bananas are high in sugar too. Well see how it goes. And no I will not sucumb to the chips and salsa cravings! Gotta get thru this! Take care Bex! Diane
