So i started on DMSA+ALA around 3 months ago at a super low dose(~3mgs of each). First two rounds had some nice experiences and was sure it was what would get all the mercury out of my brain.(I feel sure nasal spray with Phenyl mercuric acetate in it , that i used for like 7 years poisoned me,dark grey skin, dead grey hair, cfs, feeling seconds away from death etc..) So after spending ~22hrs a day in bed for 3 months in a more than usual zombie like state, my health has declined horribly. It seems to me *purely speculative*(and against everything cutler says) is that all ive been doing for 3 months is shunting mercury from my body into my brain. And very very tormenting is that it seems/feels like i have permanent brain damage, and am tinkering on pyschosis(with a sense of certainty that if i cross this fine line, i will never come back.) One very unpleasant incident involved crying for ~2hrs, contemplating mutilating myself with scissors, then getting in the car at 2am, and starting to drive to the beach, with the full intention of just starting swimming out and not stopping. After getting to the beach interest had faded and i turned around and drove back home. I then cried for another 2hrs, contemplated knifing/scissoring myself again and fell asleep. As DMSA doesnt cross the BBB to any significant extent, it seems to me ALA is responsible for this. It is 3 days after that painful experience and i am sure i have done permanent brain damage. I can no longer see a human being in the mirror staring back at me and have developed some bizaree phobias. It is 4am in Australia as i write this and when the sun comes up i will be ringing Dr Rashid Buttar in America to make an appointment( he has successfully treated a lady in a similar condition although not as bad). I will try to talk to him personally to convey my situation so as to avoid the probable several month wait list. Also Boyd Haleys new chelator OSR(oxidative stress relief) will be for sale from his website on April 6th. http://www.ctiscience.com/CTIScience/As someone said on curezone "whenever he uses the term oxidative stress relief, this is code for "mercury/metal chelator". Theres some issues with the FDA involved so he has to speak in code. Lol."

Hi Samh,
I am very sorry to hear of this. I have been in many similar states as this. Many products/chelation would make it worse and cause me to scream and cry for hours on end and behave in ways that had me close to being committed. That plus driving out in my car contemplating suicide.
So yes, I relate. I have to ask you, when did you have your amalgams replaced? How long after that did you begin chelation? And did you use DMSA by itself for enough time before using ALA? ALA will take mercury into the brain if the blood/body levels have not been reduced first.
This is why it is crucial to clear the blood/body first. Though it apparently happens gradually bit itself over months, DMSA is a chelator and can do the job more efficiently and make life easier in the process. Though it may cause detox symptoms, it can help over time. It did for me, I needed it desperately. In fact, DMSA continued to cause symptoms for a LONG time, so I feel that in some people the blood/body levels take much longer to bring down than perhaps other people. Had I used ALA during that time, it makes me wonder what might have happened.
Before I stumbled upon Cutler's protocol, I used all kinds of products and protocols and near made myself insane many times over. I didn't expect mercury detox to be easy, but I did not expect it to cause me to turn almost psycho in the process. THe DMSA alone, began to help me a great deal and I would suggest that you drop the ALA and start using DMSA alone every 4 hours arund the clock and see if you can start to help this dreadful reaction. Using ALA too early, or when body/blood levels are too high can indeed cause big problems.
I have had many horrific reactions after many backfires from chelating wrongly or using things at the wrong time and I really felt permanent damage had been done. Sometimes it took weeks or even a couple of months to start feeling more normal again. I also a few times used DMSA alone and this helped me come back to some normality quicker.

I have read stories like this before on Chelators for Mercury, it seems some can tolerate it but it can literally blow your brain out and mess you up badly. I am not with Cutlers protocal and think minerals are the only way to safely defuse the metals and heal yourself over time, there is not a quick fix IMO and I did way better on Chlorella than any Chelator I ever used (I never used them for long) which Andy says is bad! I used Garlic too, never a bad thing from Sulfur here. I am convinced this only makes some worse, some don't get better doing this chelation stuff and it's very dangerous IMO regardless of what Andy says or wrote.
Read this, some might find it interesting (I did and never went to Chelation after this, I am glad I did not).http://members.tripod.com/mueller_ranges/links/compendium/chelation.html
Some more on Minerals and metals, this guy KNOWS ALOT!http://www.curezone.com/forums/fm.asp?i=1213377#i He is a wealthy of knowledge.
BTW I hope you get better, peace (Prays for you)!

Jk-i experimented with a large dose of magnesium yesterday and it instantly calmed me right down, was bizarre but very welcome. so ty all for the input Yes Magnesium! I take the Citrate powder as it gets in your body better IMO. When I take salt I feel better too, preferably Himalayan Pink Sea Salt (1/4 teaspoon in clean water), that really detoxes me fast and I can feel it working almost ten mins after I take it. Whatever you do please start out slow and remember like JK said make sure your body is ready or strong enough to handle the detox, if not you can end up like I have a few times feeling like I am damn near nuts and losing my mind waking up in the morning time, it is not fun at all (Selenium and Kelp namely have done this to me in different doses). Make sure you listen to your body too, if it's feeling bad after something or it's scary then discontinue it as it does not belong. I hope you feel better now, if you do thats great and we are here to help you with input as we have been through alot ourselves in here. BTW a Candida flareup from Detox can be the worst! I feel insane when it gets outta control, mind racing and trouble breathing etc.

You're welcome Samh. I'm very glad to hear the DMSA has helped you! Perhaps this means you simply need to chelate with DMSA alone for sometime before introducing a brain chelator?
What dose are you on and are you taking it every 4 hours? I found that many times DMSA corrected a dreadful reaction from backfire effects/redistribution when taken in this way.
I do not believe, after my experience, that minerals are nearly enough to heal from this condition. Neither is diet, but they can help in that they support and replace what mercury depletes. And certain minerals/elements displace the mercury and may well precipitate some movement/removal of metals in the process, but a chelator is required to chelate the mercury OUT. The more mercury that is chelated out, the better the health becomes and the more the body can absorb and utilise nutrients. Candida may also need to be treated for similar reasons. I was unable to make proper progress until I took onboard proper chelation.
DMSA was a great help in getting alot of mercury out of me. Though in hindsight it was not enough because brain/organ mercury must at some point be chelated out also. ALA appears to be the one to do this, but only when blood/body mercury are reduced. or I disagree there, I don't think a chelator is needed for this to fully be taken out or even so called TURNED off in your body, if the mineral turns off or deactivates the metal then how is it still harmful? Check the moreless page on curezone I posted up there he explains that more. I also read about Kelp or Selenium and Iodine making it harmless in your body. I would try minerals for a while before trying anything extreme that can pretty much end you as you know it. Chelation is dangerous IMO, I have tried it with Cilantro and felt like a Zombie! If any metal is still under a tooth or in your mouth too you can get alot worse, how to know if some is not hidden or a root canal? One might now know. I believe Minerals are a big step in getting better as minerals are a key to life and make our bodies run, without them vitamins and enzymes etc. will not all function properly. I am not saying you are wrong, just disagree on some of what you said there. BTW Magnesium can even block metals from entering your cells! Read up on that as well, very good stuff it is. There is so much misinformation out here in the net it can hurt you, some come up with things and believe it to be true and then it becomes legend in here or other boards, when infact not all we read is true. Peace, Sean.
