This round I am taking 200 mg ALA and 62 mg DMSA every 3 hours.
How high do you think I can increase the ALA dosage? I am starting to think that perhaps I should try to stay at the 200 mg dosage for a while, and eventually increase the dosage to 400 mg? Do you think 400 mg every 3 hours is the highest dosage of ALA that should be used for a 165 pound man(75 kg)?
That works out to around 43 mg/kg/day.

Now I am thinking that perhaps 300 mg per dose should be the maximum ALA dosage. What do you think? I guess I should stay at 200 mg a dose for a while. What DMSA dosage do you think is good? I am at 62 mg now. Do you think 100 mg should be the maximum for a 165 pound man?

The recommended maximum, if I recall, is 1mg per pound of body weight. You are already exceeding that, so I would send Andy an email or post this to one of the frequent dose chelation groups on yahoo. I very highly doubt Andy would set a maximum dose without a good reason, so you are probably not doing yourself a favor by going up to extreme doses. ALA has other mechanisms in the body, and such high dosages could definitely have unwanted effects.

I have seen other websites saying that ALA dosages of 600 mg 3 times a day have been used frequently and resulted in few side effects. That is recommemded for diabetics. So 1,800 mg a day works out to 225 mg a dose for 8 doses a day. The question is what happens above that. Perhaps I should just stay at 200 mg a dose. It is a convenient dosage.

I am wondering what to do with my DMSA dosage. I am at 62 mg a dose and might raise it next round, although the last time I tried 83 mg a dose for DMSA I had some digestive side effects.

Are you feeling improvements from your chelation? I can certainly feel a lot of progress when I compare how I felt last summer to this summer, adn the only thing I changed was I started proper chelation.

I guess so, but the progress is uneven. I was in such bad shape. This isn't resolving quickly. I had 25 amalgam fillings for so many years.

I'm up to 25mg ALA 25mg DMSA now. I'm not noticing fast progress, but its definitely slow and steady, and my rounds are much smoother and more functional that they were earlier this year. Off round I still feel very unfocused and disorderly, so I'm taking a more modest approach dosage wise because I can get decent amounts of work done while on round.

One of my main problems is inflamed and irritated lower gums. My upper gums have not been bothering me. This has been going on for a few years. My dentist told me to ask my doctor about it. When it has something to do with the teeth or gums, doctors will say to ask a dentist about it. I think it might be due to the mercury, or it might be due to nutritional deficiencies. I am taking many supplements, including vitamin c, camcium and magnesium, vitamin D, and zinc, which are recommended for gum problems. CoQ10 is also recommended, however I am not taking it yet(it gets expensive for a large dosage).

Have you been working on increasing these dosages? Staying at such low dosages might result in very slow progress. That is why I have been rather aggressive in raising my chelation dosages. I have only been chelating consistantly since February.

In Feb. I was only at 12.5mg of each, so I have been increasing the dosage when I feel like I am able. I have work that needs done though and I wouldn't get anything done if I was taking a higher dose...and I am happy with the progress I have been making, and also enjoying my life, so its all working out.
