I've removed my fillings 3 months ago, and I would sure have done it again. The first few days I felt a sensible improvement, but after I did not notice all this difference.
Still I guess it might be that the graduality of the healing makes me forget how sick I was.
I still suffer now and then from the usual strange problems, constant hunger that never passes, thirst, feeling every single heartbeat, often lack of energy, fatigue, cold hands and feet (I guess I have "Raynauds"), rapid heartbeat, bad digestion.
I pay much attention to what I eat and am trying many supplements, though I dont take many regularly, since they usually dont help much.
I bought a week ago Cutlers book and its very nice, although it does not provide some information I read on the net (maybe because its not true!)
So I tried Lipoic Acid and strangely I feel quite good after taking it, although it causes me some dizziness at first (first time I took it I was losing my balance a couple of times...). I think Ill stick to it.
Cutler says you should use Lipoic acid only when you have low blood mercury, otherwise it gets into your brain instead of going out. I think after 3 months blood mercury should be low enough.
I also take selenium, it makes my heart feel better and reduces some of my contant hunger-thirst.
I am still a bit uncertain if mercury is my only problem, since after 3 months my symptoms have not vanished. However I dont regret a bit taking off amalgams.
I read here somewhere that insulin has 3 sulphur groups (which of course stick to mercury). wow, I never knew that. that makes a lot of sense explaining my constant thirst, hunger, and not so good heart condition.
I already tried taking chromium, does not much good, nor B vitamins. selenium often helps a lot.
I hope with ALA my improvement will speed up.
I saw the IAOTM video and its great. You can convince anyone with that. I wonder how people can be so blind.
Finally I would like to thank Russ for the great service provided by this site it's one of the best on the subject. (PS: Russ, what is the FIRST most valuable piece of information you received in your life?)
Cheers,
Matteo

Oh one crazy fact: I never had problems with fish oil when I had amalgams (and eat fish), now I dont eat fish and if I take just 1 capsule of fish oil (1 gram!!) I get instant diarrhea!! so i had to forget fish omega3. I dont dare to eat fish, although I could try as an experiment...

I had 8 amalgams, say I got one a year since I was 12 (now I'm 23). I took usual vitamin C, selenium, zinc, vitamin E before and after removal. On the days of removal the dentist gave me a pill of "vegetable coal" (I cant seem to find a translation for this, in italian its "carbone vegetale") that is supposed to absorb the mercury in the stomach.
I never got a side effect from removal, probably because the dentist was good and used the due security measures, despite taking off 8 in a month. However the last day I took one away without the "vegetable coal" I felt quite bad.
Anyway I was pretty luky to find one good dentist near me that does almost exclusively amalgam removals at just 150 euros each tooth (using diamond lite)
Selenium helps a lot to me, and also vitamin C the first few times (but once you have enough I doubt it helps to get enormous doses).

You might be right. Its just that I read some stories of immediate relief of symptoms that made me impatient. Another thing that bugs me is that I feel that my condition is so much determined by what I eat. I often think "what could I eat now"/ what supplement should I take, and sometimes I feel that Ive eaten/taken just the right thing and it makes me much better.
Recently I seem to respond REALLY well to selenium, which makes me supppose that its really mercury. It often makes my heart beat better, lowers hunger and thirst, takes also some nausea away and makes me think better!
I take selenomethionine (or something like that), an organic yeast free form, about 300 mg a day (would take more but there is concern on toxicity... tolerable upper limit is 400 mg.) I would suggest anyone to give it a try.
Vitamin C worked sometimes, now doesnt that much good. Other supplements dont make much difference really. Oh Alpha Lipoic Acid is pretty strong and does a big difference, though not always positive, so Im a bit uncertain about that.
I also have some recurring appetite for calcium. Sometimes that makes me feel better. And milk sometimes does.
Oh well, I guess I'll have to wait and see...
BTW, does "someone" (wonder who it might be...) know if iodine supplements are right to take? I took some kelp, but then I'm a bit worried about the arsenic it might contain.
Cheers <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />!

I started on magnesium a couple of years ago when I realized a lot of my symptoms were the same as a mg deficiency. Helps tremendously. Take at night and in the morning when levels are lowest. Interesting discovery when learning about hg : mercury blocks magnesium and zinc.
