HI my name's chris,
I have been dx'ed with PN and mercury poisoning via provactive chelation urine test. At this point My gp says the mercury isnt my problem but my homopathic doc says its possible.
Here is a list of my symptoms in the order they started, first a balance problem, then muscle spasms in legs and feet, fatiuge,pins and needles in heels and pinky and ring finger, which changed too numbness in the above mentioned area's,heart palapatations,burning sensations in skin mostly in right cheek, prostate light trembling feeling.
The most disturbing at the moment being the prostate problem which started a little after i begain chelation treatment.
Could that particular symptom be caused from mercury poisoning or could it be caused from the chelation treatment?
I have had a prostate exam and the particular blood test for prostate cancer which came back in normal range. I also had all std testing done and urine testing in relation too the shakyness/spasm feeling...
I have been having the above mentioned sx's for 8 months which started ten days after the hep b vaccine..
Is it possible that i had a high mercury level in my body and the thermisol in the vaccine somehow activated the mercury?
I have many other questions but will cut this post and chime in later..

Based on what you said, sounds like a classic case.

The vast majority of gp's are "down" on the idea of mercury poisoning. Don't let this discourage you. If the test shows it and your symptoms support it (and they do), you probably have mercury issues.

Do you have amalgam fillings? If so, they probably set you up for the reaction after the vaccination. Nice of them to add a little highly-toxic mercury to the mix for you, wasn't it <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />

I don't know about the relationship to the prostate problem you mentioned. I could not find anything about it in my books.

Thx for the responce, yeah i do have fillings that iam planning on having removed in the near future..
I went too an ear specialist today and he told me that i did have and recovered from a viral ear infection which is part of my balance issue..
I think i have read in a few places that poeple with mercury poisoning are more succeptable too various infections......?
Also i have cut sugar out of my diet totally for the last three weeks and my balance has imporved notably..
I guess that may be one more indication that mercury could be the culprit..
Iam currently taking selenium...does that cross the blood brain barrier?

According to Hutler, the only thing that removes mercury from the brain is alpha lipoic acid. Moreover he sais it's a good idea to wait 6 months - 1 year in order for mercury in the blood to be low before taking it, otherwise it might actually favor the flow from the blood to the brain and not viceversa.

About four months ago i had my blood level checked it was at what my gp says is an acceptable range of four..
I realize that there is no safe level of mercury in the body.
I have been taking a combination of acetyl-L-carnitine and alpha lipoic acid for the last month..
I will have too re-consider that desision.
Does anyone know if after a dmps treatment if the mercury is again subjected into the bloodstream?
I have also heard that DMSA removes mercury from the brain.
However i haven't cross referanced that infromation..
There are so many different approaches in detoxing its hard too find the right path to a mercury free body..
At this point i realize that iam taking certain risks in my detox process by starting the chelation before the filling removal.
But my sx's are very troubling and i just want too get started somewhere..
unfortuantely it will take me about another month before i have the funding too have the removal preformed...

DMSA should help to remove mercury from the blood (and also from the brain according to some sources, but this is not emphatised in Cutlers book)

Cutlers book differs quite a bit from the view of most websites I checked: even though he is a princeton phd in chemistry I have my doubts that everything he says is right.

Anyway he also says that DMSA (and DMPS) treatment does not significantly improve mercury excretion, it should help to control symptoms by keeping blood levels low. He also says DMSA is good only if taken in small doses frequently.

The protocol he suggests is DMSA for 6 months-1 year post removal, then DMSA+ALA for another year, along with the usual over the counter stuff

From reading the book the final impression you get is that ALA is the most important thing you should get (removes mercury from brain and significantly increses excretion), but at the end of the book it tells you the story I told you that you should have low blood mercury before taking ALA.

Anyway he says to take ALA every 4 hours, for periods of 4 days, then stop for 4 days (otherwise ALA may promote mineral imbalances of copper and zinc...)

Personally I have removed amalgams 4 months ago and have decided to wait still a bit before taking ALA, now Im just taking some of the usual stuff. But I will certainly take ALA in a while.

Oh, another thing you should probably try is flax oil, that is strongly encouraged in the book and does good to me.

The reason i take alpa lipioc acid is the research i have read about it states.That it is prescribed in Europe for PN.(which i have) It helps all tissue repair and nerve function. IT is the only antioxidant that gets into neurons because it is both fat and water soluble.
I do take flax oil, also i take 2 tablespoons of canola oil which is rich in the omega's...
Does anyone take high b12 methocybalamin?
I have started taking it and feel it has helped some...
I have too disagree with the theory that Dmps only removes mercury from your blood..ITs disign is too get into your tissue's..LIke i was saying earlier its really tuff to find a good safe removal treatment..I dont like the slow approach because i have seen the accumalated damage that is occurring in my body. I feel many chronic diseases can manifest in a short time with high levels of mercury in one's system.
ON the flip side of the coin i have heard of many that have done more damage than good too there bodies trying detox..

Good to hear you're taking selenium. Vitamin E also helps protect against the oxidative effects of mercury. I actually take a Vitamin E with selenium supplement daily for protection.

One of the best supplements I take is a general Thyroid supplements that really gives me energy by enabling the mercury-hindered T3 levels to rise. They are usually low in mercury toxic patients. I can really feel the difference. It also provides iodine and other components that are nearly all very useful for improving your energy during detox.
