Hello. I just found this place while studying more about mercury and its effects on our health. I am a 43 year old wife and Mom with a mouth full of mercury.
I have a "benign" heart arrythmia. My Doc calls it benign, but it aint in his chest! At times it feels like I have a little model T engine in there, and its not hitting on all cylinders. Very unnerving. I take a beta blocker which only helps a little. Curiously, it often seems worse after eating.
I also have a lot of joint pain. I do not use drugs nor alcohol, but I am addicted to sweets.
Quite some time back I first read "Its all in your head", and I haven't been to a dentist since. My Dad has recently been diagnosed with possible Lewy Body dementia, which is a form of Alzhiemers. So, I have been studying again about mercury toxicity. Unfortunatly, I don't think I can presuade my Dad to get his fillings removed, but I have decided to start the process of getting mine removed.
I live in a rural area, and though I have not called them, I would doubt any of our local dentists would agree with mercury being bad. A dentist 50 miles away does remove amalgams, and advertises as a "holistic" dentist. He also charges $95 for the first consultation, and the x-rats are extra. I can see this adding up to more than I can afford! I have 8 molars that are totally filled, in fact the teeth are gray from it. I wonder if maybe just having the teeth pulled might not be a better route to go.
There are other symptoms I am having that I wonder if they could be related to my fillings, but the heart deal and joint pain are really the worst at this time.
I am very worried, with my Dad's diagnosis, that my long term health might follow his if I don't get something done.
Also, I know nothing about how to get the mercury out once the fillings are removed.
Anyway, this is who I am. Maybe I will hang around here and learn something!
Wow! The more I read on here, the more of myself I see in the descriptions of symptoms..... brain fog, difficulty with concentration, memory problems, socialization problems....shyness.... I have often wondered what is wrong with me. Hopefully now I know what and can begin to fix it!

Welcome to the secret club, nobody chooses to join and it's so exclusive that often the members themselves don't even know they belong. Most of the real info takes place on the "Amalgam Fllings, Mercury Toxicity" site, I'm such an idiot it took me about 6 months to work that out, see you on the flip side ? and good health.

Just wanted to say Hi Phylis. My journey sounds very much like yours except I don't have heart irregularities. My Dad is very ill as well with Alzheimers symptoms and had a mouth full of mercury. It pushes me to change my life so that I don't end up in the same condition as him. Take care and welcome to the forum.

I had a similar issue where my heard would just start pounding extremely hard when I stood from a seated position. I also felt light-headed and nearly lost my balance. My hear felt like it was weak.
Of course, this symptom, along with numbers other vanished when my amalgams were removed in July of 2000.
I also has numerous emotional issues that vanished along with poor memory, which has improved to a point where it is not better than it has ever been in my life.
Huggins goes into this a little in his book (that you already read) It's All In Your Head.
Dr. Haley also talks about the relationship between mercury and Alzheimer's. Here's an interesting video:

Hi Phyllis and welcome ! I'm also a 43 year-old female-- but not a mother , just an auntie!
I can relate with your experience, because I also had 8 metal fillings over a year ago in my molars--- and had them replaced two at a time every month or so--til they were all replaced.
My symptoms improved-- I had eye and other muscle twitches, migraines, dizzy spells, candidas, yeast infections, forgetfullness, shyness, stuttering, etc. I had my fillings in since I was a kid, and now I am 43 and have greatly improved after the last filling was out.
I also have a holistic dentist about an hour away from where I live, but she is very expensive- and I make practically minimum wage. So, out of desperation and determination (Gosh Darn it!!) I went to a regular dentist who uses the top of the line equipment and materials. He thought I was a looney toon when I told him why I wanted my fillings replaced, but he still respected my desires, no matter how crazy. He hates mercury fillings for other reasons-- especially that they end up cracking the molars years ahead in your life. He also hates the staining as he is a reconstructive dentist as well and prides his work-- so he will not order amalgam for those reasons.
So when he teased me when I was getting my first two metal fillings out on my birthday- of all days. He joked , "Now i know you are crazy because you went to a dentist on your BIRTHDAY to get fillings drilled out! lol!
On my first visit, I had to sign a wiaver form that I wouldnt give him any problems. I did so, and made sure to compliment him where any compliments were due-- so we ended up getting along .
He did a great job- and it was quick. They used high speed suction -and he still let me use a rubber dam as well-- after i asked him, "just humor me, okay?"
I supplemented and took Algin before and after-- as well as activated charcoal. I took lots of vitamin C with the bioflavonoids days before too and right after. After the last metal filling was out months later- I then added the chlorella to the chelating list as well. Three months later I also added Alpha Lipoic Acid.
In my case, having the metal fillings replaced two at a time at least every other month was easier on my body to cope between removals-- as well as easier on my budget. My insurance wouldn't pay for the porcelain/composite material- but it does not surprise me that my insurance WOULD pay 100% if I got more amalgam! I ended up paying from $85.00 to $185.00 for each pair of fillings to be replaced-- depending on how much amalgam they had to drill out.
There was some tooth sensitivity I felt after replacements, so I was happy I was still able to chew on the other side of my mouth while the other side healed. The sensitivity only lasted no more than a month.
I used a dental Chelat mouthwash to rinse my mouth out instead of the mouthwash they provided in the dental office. It binds nano-particles of old filings released from the drilling and you spit it out in the dental rinse sink in the dentist office instead of using their flouride rinse.
Also- you can use Dental Chelat mouthwash even now before you get your fillings out- and it will help your mouth from the mercury vapor being emitted right now.
Anyways, It took me from May to September to have all Eight fillings replaced, and the composite/porcelain fillings are still holding strong in my mouth - and I have no sensitivity -- my gums have even improved! Look up, you will have yours replaced also :-)
