I mentioned the conversations I was having here in a science forum where I talk. Some people there obviously decided to come here and address some of the issues themselves. Do you have an objection to this? Seems to me the numbers here are about equal now and I doubt if any of the visitors will stay long. I don't know them personally. Surely you can't complain about their demeanour?

Linda, the current discussion of evolution/creation aside, I have some questions for you. I've tried to ask them before, but you didn't answer them.
1. Why is this so-called debate so important to you?
2. What results are you hoping to achieve by your posts?
3. I sense a great deal of transference coming from you and your approach in posting here. Therefore:
3a. Why can't any of your posts be considered to be quote mining?
3b. Why can't any of your posts be considered to be regurgiposting?
And, finally, I've gleaned from posts you've written in the past here that you sometimes use this Forum as a means of trying to exercise your intellectual muscle. You had shared with us in the past that since you were home and looking for employment and had so much time on your hands that you enjoyed signing on here to do just that. I believe you even indicated that it helped you to do this because it was a diversion for you from the time you spend with your daughter. Perhaps you meant that it was nice to get some "grown-up" time for Mom.
Which leads me to this, if the creation/evolution debate is not important to you or you can't give us a reason why you're doing what you're doing, then one might conclude that you are merely having fun or playing games. Could one perhaps further conclude that you could be trolling?
In this particular Forum Russ has issued an invitation for people to debate evolution and creation. If memory serves, I believe he's stated that all viewpoints are welcome in the discussion. Perhaps you feel you are debating. But, in my own humble opinion, some of the methods and rules that you've employed in the debate seem incredible.
I'm just wanting to know where you're coming from is all. Because what I'm seeing is some pretty scary stuff (and I'm not talking about the fact that you believe in evolution -- I'm referring to the methods you're using here). I guess I'm hoping that your responses will tell me that what I feel I'm discerning is wrong.

Why do I debate with creationists (not just on this forum)? Maybe because I want to understand the psychology of that point of view. I also tend to hope that any lurkers will be interested in any info I post. Maybe someone will learn something.
Do you think I think I'm "showing off" intellectually here? No. I am not so lacking in self-worth that I want people to think I am a brain box so that I can feel better about myself. I said I don't know the visitors here personally, but I do know they are better at science and logic than me. But I don't accuse them of trying to show off how smart they are.
I don't quote mine apart from the instance where I did it to SoSick to show her what a dishonest practice it is. I think you'd be hard-pressed to find an evolutionist who quote mines creationists. There is no need because there is plenty of actual evidence to refer to. Would you like to give me an example of where you think I did it?
My definition of regurgiposting is passing on creationist ideas from people like Morris and Hovind that have done the rounds and have already been refuted by scientists dozens of times. I can't honestly speak for what Bex is doing, maybe she really is reading what she is cutting and pasting, but many others go through that process without even reading what they are posting, and then expect someone to take the time to refute it all. I have to admit that a couple of my recent posts here have contained several quotes from other sources, but it's either because they explain it better than me, or because I'm getting tired and a little narked at being expected to respond to cut-and-paste lists of creationist claims that take a second to post. I think in future if I know of a good site that refutes the claim, I will simply link the poster there.
What am I hoping to achieve? I don't know. But I care about children and I'm angry that there are people who want to teach them pseudoscience in place of what we actually know about the world. Some of these children could grow up to be brilliant scientists who could make significant contributions to their chosen fields; instead they are taught it is all lies. The nation will be the poorer for it.
So no I’m not playing games, I mean what I am saying. I hope that would be obvious from the time I’ve taken to explain the scientific errors in the claims here.
What are the methods I’ve used that you feel are “incredible?” I haven’t insulted a single member of the forum, which is more than can be said for a few others here who continue to have a go at me in ways completely unrelated to the discussion. If you think I have behaved inappropriately then please explain.

There is a sudden onslaught of evolutionists on this forum. I know. We should do something to stop them, shouldn't we? I was wondering (and be honest):
Did You Invite Some Friends to Come To This Forum? My, if that doesn't sound like you're reprimanding someone. You're sure not doing much to dissuade the general belief that you mismanage and unfairly run this forum, I'm afraid. Burn the hethens! Infedels, all! We do not want evolutionists in this forum - isn't Linda enough!?! I mean, really, come on guys. After all, just look at the title of the forum. (Read: heavy sarcasm.)

Russ can I just ask a teeny question here? You're completely in the clear regarding tampering or removing posts, and I admit I was wrong there but I genuinely didn't know what else to think because I couldn't find the post I mentioned.
But I'll ask now: why would someone attempting to sign up as a new user, be given a virus alert? Does this have anything to do with you?
If you feel there are enough "guests" here at the moment then I'm happy to ask them not to gang up. I know that a fair few are lurking, to find out what's being said here.
I did actually ask you if you wanted to join their forum at one point. Other creationists are there. You're always welcome.

I guess I'm still trying to figure out, Russ, if you have a problem with new forum members joining or not (especially if they aren't creationists). If you don't, could I get you to explain why you went so far as to make an entirely new post named 'Linda, Did You Invite Some Friends to Come To This Forum?' Surely you can understand how I might draw this as a conclusion.

One person said they were getting a virus alert when they tried to join here. I don't honestly know why that may be. It's possible that it's just his computer being difficut.
At any rate, the only guest who has stuck around for any length of time is RAZD, and he's made some good contributions from a more scientific and logical point of view than I am able to present myself. I don't think anyone here has any reasonable basis for complaint.
I'll probably start to curtail my own contributions here because I've been sucked back into talking on his forum. They love arguing with me there LOL.

I think she snagged herself a bonafide nutjob even more desperate than herself to prove he's a genius.
The guy wants to argue 1+1=2.
I guess I will take a vacation at this point. Perhaps in time the smog will settle.

Thank you for sharing, SoSick, I think she snagged herself a bonafide nutjob even more desperate than herself to prove he's a genius. The guy wants to argue 1+1=2. Quote the full context SoSick or ADMIT that you are either incapable of understanding it or that you are intentionally misrepresenting it. From Evolution is real: The problem, Russ (and anyone else interested in the truth) is that mathematics cannot tell the truth. Numbers will make pretty pictures, but no matter how much you figure and calculate and postulate and formulate, [color:"blue"]there is no relation to reality. Mathematics cannot invalidate reality, ... : If you don't believe me see if you can show that 1+1=2 [color:"blue"]has validity in the world of objective reality. Start by finding two absolutely identical things. Color added for emPHAsis. If your understanding of that simple statement is the problem, then being a genius by comparison is but a minor difference in IQ. If misrepresentation is the problem then bearing false witness would seem to be your best form of argument, followed by casting stones. The issue is not whether 1+1=2 is true in abstract math, but whether it bears any valid relationship to objective reality. Perhaps the problem is dealing with objective reality? I guess I will take a vacation at this point. Perhaps in time the smog will settle. Better get out of the house SoSick, if you can't handle the kitchen. Perhaps the smoke will clear in your absence. It is, of course, common for creationists to run away whenever the evidence gets too overwhelming, when their understanding of reality is inadequate to deal with the facts. Can you tell me why creationists NEED to lie? The best evidence against creationism is the plethora of creationist lies and not just on the websites, but in the posts of "believers." Perhaps it is because you start with a falsehood? Enjoy. Note: [color:"green"]My time (too) is limited, so I post on threads of particular interest to me, but I cannot guarantee a reply to all responses (particularly if they do not discuss the issue/s), and I expect other people to do the same. Thank you for your consideration.
