Hello to everyone. I just found this web site yesterday and I am thrilled. My story began 5 years ago. My first symptoms were rapid and pounding heart beat, difficulty breathing, chest tightness, and difficulty swallowing. Of course I was diagnosed with panic attack. I then had very sore throat, like a burning sensation, to go along with everything else. I was then diagnosed with acid relux. I had no tolerance for any of the medications. Everything I took made my heart race and made breathing difficult. I've been to a cardiologist and my heart checked out fine. About a year after the symptoms began I had surgery for the acid reflux with no improvement. I should mention that by now I had more symptoms that did not appear to be related at all. I'll list these in a bit. All medicine including natural supplements made me feel worse. I went to the Mayo clinic which was a huge disappointment. They did the exact testing I had already had for the acid relux. Their diagnosis was acid relux even though I had already had the surgery to fix this problem. My symptoms include rapid heart rate, chest tightness, very sensitive to chemicals and foods, occasional sore throat, joint pain in wrists and elbows and muscle weakness in arms and legs, legs are very sensitive to touch, no tolerance for physical activity, dizziness, vision getting worse, occassional floaters in the eye, very sensitive to smells especially car fumes and perfume, sometimes feeling like I am going to pass out. I do not feel clear headed at all anymore. I could go on with the list but it's just kind of depressing. I am afraid to drive anymore especially on the highway. All I want to do is stay home and not pretend I feel ok. I am just so tired. I have a doctor's appointment Oct 25 with a "natural doctor" who also has a medical degree. I also have a dentist appointment Nov 7 to see about getting rid of my 5 "silver" fillings the correct way. I am 43 years old now and probably got the fillings when I was around 30-35 years of age. Does this sound like mercury toxicity? What would you suggest I do now before I can see the doctor or dentist? I would appreciate any feed back.

It sounds to me like you could well have mercury toxicity. I have a lot of similar symptoms. This is a list I compiled of mine: http://herballure.com/ubbthreads/sh...&sb=5&o=&fpart=1It sounds like I am hypochondriac, but these are all things I suffer from. I often stay in bed all morning as I am tired from not sleeping and just can' t be bothered to do anything. I have a hard time keeping jobs because I get panic attacks and I am very shy so don't mix very well. I'm sure Russ and Laura will be able to give advice, they are great and know a lot. If you are allowed to take supplements, then you might want to take vit c with bioflavinoids and Algin. I'm currently taking vit c and magnesium and the occasional zinc and vit e. They help a little with the muscle pains. About a year ago I suffered with palpitation symptoms, like my heart was beating wildly and I could feel it like a drum. That lasted a few weeks and was quite disturbing. Before you have your fillings replaced, I would suggest reading up on replacement materials (they are not all good) and getting a biocompatibilty test done. I've had one done and so now I have peace of mind over my choice of replacement. I'm going to get the fillings replaced over the next year (can't afford to have it all done at once and I want to leave some time inbetween anyway) and am going to take alternative alginate that is suitable for vegetarians. I have been to see doctors for years about my health problems and what they diagnose is PCOS. Considering it's thought to be insulin related, you'd expect they'd do controlled diabetes test but no one even suggested it. I know think I have mercury problem, but don't have confirmed diagnosis. I have about 8 fillings, one root canal.

Your symptoms sound just like my friend who started having the same problems after having dental work done, pain in the chest, panic attacks, "acid reflux", had her gall bladder removed, and they finally put her on antidepressants and a shrink. She now takes magnesium for the heart stuff and for the panic attacks and has had her amalgams replaced one at a time and she is doing much better.
I would start on magnesium and vitamin c and Algin. Good luck

Thanks for the feedback from both of you. I just want to add that I don't think I've ever had a panic attack. The doctor spent about 5 minutes with me and I think it was the easiest diagnosis to come up with. But to be honest I do get anxious after my heart starts racing and my chest feels tight. Also, I find the acid reflux a bit curious. I've never had heart burn symptoms before until all this started. I just think there is an underlying problem for all of this.

You may be right. Some people have been made sick from the fillings. Even if it's only 1 in 1000 people, that's going to be a fair number. I definitely think it's worth investigating, which is what I am doing.

Molly, All of the symptoms you mentioned can be related to mercury toxicity. I'm not sure if you've read my story but it may offer some insight for you: http://herballure.comAlso, there are more stories on this website: http://mercurytalk.comYou have so many of the symptoms of mercury toxicity that it's obvious to me that mercury is the culprit. Most doctors will not diagnose you correctly. If you want to get better: - Find a doctor that specializes in mercury toxicity, or - Get your fillings removed properly and start a detox program. Also, be aware that there are other sources of mercury exposure including: - tattoos - dentures - coal-burning power plants - neon and fluorescent lighting - many more... Please let us know what you choose to do. Thanks.

I don't know why people into the Mercury / Candida thing believes that everyone has this problem.
Your symotoms are purely those of a stress/anxiety disorder. You might have mercury poisoning, OR NOT. Those things just happen. If you start wioth the mercury thing get ready to devote your life to a never curing condition and spending millions.
WIth those symptoms, you just can't tell what you have and the usual thing is ANXIETY/STRESS or even getting older.

I believe your first three words says it best... "I don't know" Your symotoms are purely those of a stress/anxiety disorder. The psychic-diagnostic has joined our forum <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Those things just happen. Ahem...Nothing "Just Happens". It's cause and effect. Find the cause, control the effect. Study life-101 <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> If you start wioth the mercury thing get ready to devote your life to a never curing condition and spending millions. Well over 20 of my conditions went away?ranging from purely physical to purely emotional?when my mercury-amalgam fillings were removed and I spent just over $2000. That's a real deal considering what I would have spent going to doctors getting diagnosed with 50 different conditions over 5 years and spending $100,000. This scenario is actually very common among people who don't explore the mercury issue. (are you a $$$ doctor? $$$) <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> WIth those symptoms, you just can't tell what you have and the usual thing is ANXIETY/STRESS or even getting older. When you have several symptoms that all point to mercury, it would be foolish to ignore mercury as a possible cause. In fact, in almost all of the cases I personally know about, the "symptoms" went away when mercury was removed. Funny. A guy with the same opinion as you is mentioned in the Huggins book entitled It's All In Your Head. In fact, the title of the book is modeled after the attitude that doctors have taken for so long that prevents millions from being properly diagnosed in the U.S. alone. (Ironically, your lightening-quick diagnosis is the very reason for the title of the book) In all honesty, it would be best for all of us if you would finish your research before reaching such strong and misguided conclusions. No offense, just "tough-like".

Well, i always had a touch of Candidas-- but figured it was part of being human I guess.-- never linked it to my metal fillings. I just ate yogurt when I thought of it.
Well after my last metal filling replacement this September, a big glob of mucous came out with my bowel movements later that week
I notice now that I no longer have any yeast infections either.
I think- since most people have metal fillings and are told they are durable and safe-- that they attribute alot of annoying symptoms to just old age.
The thing to do is not make any judgements on what is or isnt from mercury- but just get the metal fillings replaced and do the chelating afterwards-- and then keep a journal on what you notice improved during the days and weeks ahead after all the metal fillings are replaced.

I never had an anxiety disorder until I had fillings. I didn't have any of the problems I do now. I have had lots of physical and mental problems since having the fillings. Doctors can't help me. They can only prescribe drugs or shrinks and stuff me full of birth control, seeing as I have OCD and an endoctrine disorder. I also have limited movement in one leg, for which doctor's can't help me. I really don't believe one person can get 40 medical problem "just happening", exactly coinciding with dental work. It is a fact that mercury leaks out of the fillings. No study ever has proven amalgams are safe. It's ignorance like in your opinions that is keeping people like me from getting the help I need. They will pay for psychiatrists etc for me, but they won't pay for me to get my teeth fixed or help me to get this poison out of my body. I don't know why people into the Mercury / Candida thing believes that everyone has this problem.

That is a good idea. I asked the psychology department at my college if they were interested in monitoring my brain activity, memory function, light sensitivity etc before and after the fillings. Guess what? They ignored my letter. No one wants to investigate this issue. I wasn't even asking for payment. I just thought it would be a worthwhile study for the future. The thing to do is not make any judgements on what is or isnt from mercury- but just get the metal fillings replaced and do the chelating afterwards-- and then keep a journal on what you notice improved during the days and weeks ahead after all the metal fillings are replaced.

I used to get severe heart burn after nearly every meal before my mercury removal. I was told by my natural health practitioner friends that it was related to too-little stomach acid. I didn't really believe it at that time because it didn't make much sense because they didn't explain the dynamics to me. However, when I stated taking a digestive enzyme containing HCl, my hearburn was eliminated in 4 out of 5 meals. I was astounded and very relieved (I love a good meal) <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> This is the digestive enzyme that I took: http://hocd.herballure.com/?MID=74413332720490710785&AID=95967120751977666132Now that I'm mercury-free, I rarely get hearburn, but I do keep the digestive enzymes in the cabinet for that rare occasion when I eat something I shouldn't have (a lot of cheeze, for example). Hope this helps.

The shrink that posted does have some points all though I totally disagree for the most part with him. Mercury is a much bigger problem then most seem to understand, however you can't blame you symptoms on mercury. I had mercury like symptoms and it turned out it was copper not mercury. Very very similar, identical symptoms to mercury, but yet not mercury. I had two extremely small mercury fillings removed with not improvement even with proper chleation, in my book its one less thing to worry about as I beleive they are a REAL problem HOWEVER not the problem or at least not most of the problem because not matter what in everybody they do cause some degree of problem. Its like, drinking a little gasoline may not give you a SERIOUS health problem (like a drop) but it can't be good for you same thing with mercury. The moral of the story is that there are ways of identifying mercury exposure if you follow cutler's hair anaylsis theories and thats about the only way otherwise very dififucult.

Yea, Cutler does talk about how copper symptoms are very similar to mercury symptoms in his amalgam illness book. However, in my case, my symptoms were all due to mercury as evidenced by my dramatic recovery after amalgam replacement; And because of the enormous number of mercury-based fillings being placed every day, I call the mercury issue: "The health issue of the next decade."There is no doubt, however, that toxicity from many heavy metals is becoming an increasing danger we all need to be aware of. Gold dental work often contains copper.

But like you said its cause effect. Normal people should be able to handle day to day stress, and normal people just don't get depressed for no reason or anxious for know reason. Cause-> effect like you said!
