One place uses the dam and sucks in the silver pieces from the filling. I am not sure what else, but I have an appointment for the end of the month.

The other place I felt so stupid because they didnt even know what I was talking about. They were asking me what I meant by precautions and I asked if they used a dam or anything. They said no and just use some kind of suction.
I dont think the second one is that great.

I also found a facility that does the detoxes so I will have to see how much that will cost too.

The first place I called said they charge from 200-900 a filling depending on size and the second said they only charge 100-140 a tooth for filling.

The second place was cheap but since they dont care to use many precautions it might not be worth it.

I asked what precautions they take to reduce exposure to mercury during the procedure--- The funny thing is that at the second place she didnt even understand when I was talking about mercury... What mercury she says? I said the mercury from the amalgams. They seemed pretty clueless about everything.

There is a lot of this going around.

I highly recommend you read the Hal Huggins book called "It's All In Your Head" before you have this done.

It's very important that it's done properly and even that the fillings are removed in the correct order. According to Huggins research (which he publishes in the book), he had a much higher percentage of patients who's bodies began to expel mercury when they were removed according to the amount of negative (-) voltage each one produces, or at least the quadrant with the highest total negative voltage (each mercury filling is a battery producing voltage near the brain).

This is vital if you want to have a complete recovery. I did (almost--still impoving weekly) thanks to my excellent dentist. It's much too involved to cover it here but it's all in the book.

I cannot stress how important it is to educate yourself on this issue before you find a dentist to remove the fillings. This is exactly what the Huggins office recommended I do. I was skeptical and thought maybe were just trying to sell another book, but after reading the book, I understood why and I strongly recommend the same to everyone.

As far as cost goes...

Prices will vary wildly! Shop around. I paid betwen $75 and $150 per filling depending on size, plus $250 initial consultation. My dentist followed all Huggins safety recommendations and even added a few if his own.

I have since talked to a several offices (on behalf of others) who knew little or nothing about the mercury issue, much less safety.
