With all the flouride-free toothpaste on the market these days I can't help but wonder .. what should be in toothpaste?

Anyone care to tackle this question for me? Thanks.

Hey, I personally just use baking soda now. It works h3lla good believe it or not.

Toothpaste should be made from natural ingredients only. Health food shops sell one made from aloe vera. In the UK it's called Aloe Dent.

Coconut oil(from Asian food shops) helps protect teeth too.

Believe it or not, but I use Calben Pure Soap's bar soap and peppermint oil.

It's nice because it foams up without SLS and the peppermint is pretty wicked if you put too much on. Every once in a while I will use baking soda, but you have to be careful with it. Baking soda is pretty harsh on the teeth.

I just use a little bit of powdered clay. Nothing fancy is necessary for healthy teeth if you eat well.

Ugh tell that to my teeth.

I had 7 cavities last time I went...SEVEN...I am up to 14 cavities in my teeth. Every dentist I have ever been to always tell me how clean they are too. I just can't win.

You are not getting the proper minerals in your diet, or are not utilizing them properly. If you want healthy teeth please research a fellow named Weston A Price, he really knows what he is talking about (he is dead now but his teachings are all over the internet if you search).

Many traditional people across the world never brushed their teeth and didn't have cavities. Its not how clean your teeth are, its how well they are built from the mineral stores in your body. If you are deficient in minerals in any way then your teeth will suffer.

Also, things like fluoride and mercury can make your teeth more susceptible to cavities.

I think a lot of my cavities goes back to dry mouth to be honest.

My mouth is constantly parched due to diabetes insipidus and nothing seems to help. Once this mercury is out of my pituitary I hope it gets better.

It was written in the 1930's so its pretty old but the information is so incredible. I love stories about how the indigenous people of all around the world survived off of their land...and how they were just so incredibly healthy.

About cavities...

There is now controversy about the way cavities are diagnosed.

Usually, the dentist sticks a poker into the enamel, and if it feels a little soft, he calls it a cavity and proceeds to drill out an enormous amount of perfectly good enamel and fills it.

I am very skeptical about this method of diagnosing cavities.

I also have heard more and more news stories about dentists (even long-term friend-of-the-family dentists) telling people they need cavities when they don't. I heard a report that up to 50% of people who got a second opinion from another dentist found out that they did not need fillings at all.

I personally know people who have been going to the same dentist for years and when they heard about this, began getting second opinions and found out that their dentist was diagnosing cavities that didn't exist.

Unfortunately, even the seemingly-nicest people have a dark side, especially when they don't think there is any chance of being found out.

I always say, you know the true character of a person by what they do when nobody is looking.
