Hi , My names Sam, im 22 from Sydney Australia. Been in bed for past 4.5 years , found out 6 months ago the nasal spray i used like a FIEND for ~7 years has phenylmercuric acetate in it so that was probably my main source of exposure , is either ethyl or methyl merury, forgot which one. felt like i was dying/poisoined(which i am), lost weight, hair stopped growing turned grey/seedy, slept>16 hrs a day for few years,brain stopped working to the point of most days struggling to talk, most of the time couldnt read, was painful to listen to music/watch t.v., go through periods of literally losing my mind, have insanely aggressive periods of near undeniable urges to kill myself,..food intolerances etc etc..

So 6 months ago got my diet firmly in order, which improved my brain function to the point i could read again, as soon as i got on the topic of mercury knew that was my problem. Been naturally chelating (coriander tincture,chlorella,foot pads. etc etc) for ~4 months which has seen some minor improvements.

Found Andy Cutlers protocol 3 days ago and read up on it. Started 24hrs ago on 12.5mg dmsa and 12.5mg ALA every 3 hrs,no unpleasant effects as of yet, , diet and supplements are under control.

Im pretty sure that 2 days ago before starting the protocol i couldnt of typed this. I was reading these forums and wanted to respond/introduce myself but just didnt have the mental capacity to do so, so i may have seen some slight improvement already.

Well, it won't surprise you to have me tell you that I (and I'm sure many others) can relate to this - depending on how poisoned a person has been - whether mercury and/or other conditions.

I'm very sorry that you have been aquainted with so much suffering - but I relate. I have been bedridden many times in the past because of various health problems (mercury being one). I'm lucky I am still here, considering how close I was many times to doing myself in. Really so desperate for a forum of escape and end to the suffering that was so bad, it almost defied description many times (as I'm sure you know only too well).

Sounds like the nasal spray may well have provided a significant mercury exposure and if you have amalgams, then you would get a double whammy. Another is high mercury containing fish, vaccines etc. One doesn't always need to have amalgams to get poisoned, as there seems to be a number of avenues that mercury gets in.



All power to you for making changes to your diet. It saved my life! Without the diet, I doubt I'd be here typing this to you. It may not be a cure for the true underlying problem, but it can provide significant relief/improvement and certainly reduces the toxic burden - which usually means better functioning all round (mind included).

The worst culprits I think is sugar, wheat/gluten and yeast. beyond that? One may also need to exclude/reduce high carbohydrates of all kinds - even fruit and high carb vegetables like potatoes and even all grain. Depending on how serious the yeast situation is and what a person needs to do to gain improvement.

Be careful of using products like chlorella and cilantro, particularly if you still have a high body burden of mercury. There is a risk of unpredictable movement of mercury, which may cause it to be mobilised into worse and more sensitive areas (brain being one). This is why Andy Culter created the protocol he did, because he understands the way mercury works and safer methods of moving/removing this highly toxic metal. He cautions against chlorella, cilantro and high sulfur supplementation as all can certainly move mercury, but it is not known how to use these products to ensure safety or effectiveness. Though some do indeed claim improvements, as mobilisation of mercury can of course lead to "some" excretion of it over time, but the risks attached me not be worth it and certainly if there is a tried and tested/logical protocol that works for many, it maybe the wiser choice.



Very glad to see you have indeed discovered Cutler's protocol and I wish you well on it and hope for the best outcome. It was the only one in the end I can really tolerate and it did indeed get me on the road to recovery. Everything else appeared to simply worsen the symptoms without gaining much improvement for the effort and pain. Cutler's wasn't "easy", but it was more tolerable and less risky. I still got detox symptoms and felt pretty grotty, but that is to be expected too sometimes. But nobody should need to tolerate extreme symptoms that might cause them to do something stupid or wind up put away. I've been in that position many times because of unwise chelation protocols.

I think you are on the right road Sam. You haven't mentioned amalgams....have you had them replaced? Do you have any to begin with? Certainly, it might not be wise to chelate if you still have amalgams (I'm sure you already know this). Cutler advises against this, until all amalgams have been replaced and even then, the person should only chelate with DMSA alone for a few months before adding ALA onboard. Since the blood levels of mercury must be reduced first before using a brain chelating agent like ALA. Or the risk of it transporting body/blood mercury into the brain are very high, as that's exactly where it's heading! So you can wind up with higher brain mercury when using ALA too early on after a recent exposure or recent removal of amalgams.

This needs to be emphasised, as some people make the mistake of doing so and it is not worth the risk. Reduce body/blood levels first (either waiting it out or using DMSA). Which may take about 3 months and THEN using ALA either with DMSA or alone if one wishes.

Please keep us posted on how things are going for you. Keep up the diet side of things, you may rely upon it supporting you and keeping you in a state of being able to function.

So you were useing a nasal spray that contained mercury..
Thats terrible that they put that in there.
So you got really sick but you said you had some improvements...
So you had/have auditory problems from it.
You said it was painful to listen to music/watch t.v.
You mean it literally hurt's your ears???
literal pain, like a toothache or a sharp stabbing pain or dull aching pain ect??
If thats what your describing I know how that feel's as I had ear pain like that for along time though I had hyperacusis disorder.
Do you get any other symptoms in your ears??
Do sounds sound louder to you is that why it hurts..
Have your auditory problems got better??
so you may have seen some slight improvement already with some of your symptoms..
Sound therapy TRT & Pink Noise can help restore normal sensitivity to sound..
Sound therapy is used in some cases of autism as well.
And I do believe autism can be caused by mercury exposure too.

Here's a thread of people that are sound sensitive and have problems with hearing certain sounds was this your problem too??

Ear pain, sounds sounding too loud, middle ear spasms, distortion ect....
Lot's of that there too..
And sometimes it makes me wonder..
What can cause the vunerabilty to theses condition.
