Greetings, Russ and Debi
Your stories have been very helpful to me, here is mine, still unfolding.
Last August I woke up dizzy and nauseous and lightheaded and didn't know why. I spend 3 months with the traditional doctors and they passed me around without a diagnosis (but with an offer for Prozac). I read a lot of books on allergy and realize I have multiple chemical sensitivities (brain fog, dizzy feeling). In Dec 2002, I found an MD in Environmental Medicine and he perscribed vitamin C IV and supplements (C, E, quercetin, msm, fish oil-although I have stopped that because of my recent blood test results, tri-salts, glutathione). My body is under a lot of oxidative stress.
I have been doing the IV/c at least once every two weeks and I started to feel better. In April I was tested for minerals and metals and THERE IS AN EXTREME HIGH LEVEL OF MERCURY IN MY RED BLOOD CELL. My doctor is having my family tested for the same test (we moved two years ago). I ate fish (salmon, halibut, cod, occasional tuna)in my entire life and I have 9 amalgams on my molars and 1 crown and a history of teeth grinding.
As I am doing more research on this, I realize mercury has been a part of my life always, I ate fish, I got the amalgams since age of 13 (and I remember I my eyes needed new perscription every year in high school), I used contact lenses solution for 15 years (started in mid '80s).
Five years ago I started to get Raynaud's Symdrome in my toes (vasculitis) and that got worse, my eyes dried up, I see floaters, sometime big ones, now my vision vibrates and right ear rings increasingly loudly. I have battled depression... and I now also have a bitter taste in my mouth. I have borderline low basal temp. Now my doctor has told to exercise 2x/day and sit in a sauna for 10 min everyday to raise my temp. Now I have read that having amalgam and sitting in a sauna is not safe, right?
Hence I am anxious and am wondering if I have the amalgam disease. Mercury in my red blood means I am still exposed to the stuff, would amalgams do that? (I thought it gets deposited in the organs and doesn't show up in blood tests). I am considering going to the Huggins clinic in Montreal but it's sooo expensive. As you know insurance doesn't pay for alternative treatments. but I am very afraid to mess up my immune system now. I need someone to remove the amalgam correctly. (if this is the problem).
I have Andy Cutler's book, and the uninformed consent and elements of danger. It overwhelms me to think about dental revision and chelation.
Any insight you may have on the mercury in blood test issue, positive/negative experience you know about Dr. Huggins' clinics, would be greatly appreciated.
God bless,
Sue

In just reading your experience, it seems that everything points to mercury as the cause of most of your issues. The symptoms you mentioned are all very familiar It's funny you mentioned floaters because I had a big problem with that for most of my life and I don't even think I mentioned that in My Story... In fact, I completely forgot about it. I used to have a lot of eye problems, including extreme itching. I know you said it's overwhelming thinking about dental revision. It was for me too but knowing what I know now, I wouldn't even think twice. I had always been very fit. Played raquetball almost every day, lifted weights, etc. The 2 years prior to the amalgam removal, I gained weight and could no longer exercise without getting sick. I also suffered with depression, especially within 24 hours of eating sugar. 6 months before the removal, I could not lose a pound of weight. My waist went from 32 to 40. Now, without exercising, my 40 jeans are loose, so much so, that I have to wear belt just to keep them up. I'm just beginning to exercise little by little in the next week and I'm thrilled at the idea of getting back to my previous shape. I just cannot stress enough that if you get work done, have it done safely and correctly. Also, have the correct material used as a replacement. After the removal, supplementation with chlorella will help remove mercury from tissue and algin will keep your symptoms at bay. Don't use them before the removal, however, as they can aggravate the problems. I remember that, for me, the idea that replacing my fillings was going to help my many mystery illness(es) was a strange and scary notion. I did have doubt but was desperate enough to try anything and this seemed like the most likely solution. Thank God I followed through!I certainly hope you can have something done and keep us posted on the result. Also, if you ever want to write and share your complete story in detail, I have provided the Mercury Talk Website just for that purpose. I want to document what works and what doesn't so others can benefit from the trials we have. All the best to you and please keep us posted.

Hey, the above post (about Freya Koss) was by me. Upon posting, it said "Anonymous" so I realized I hadn't logged in.

I just bought "It's all in your Head",today, and I hope to gain some insight. The chest-pains and general tightness in my chest has been progressing lately, and is scaring the heck out of me. I'm only 32, and just feel horrible more often than not. It's really, really taking a toll on me. I feel hopeless. Yet, I keep a good appetite. The estimate for removing my amalgams by a local dentist here, and replacing them with porcelain-resin, was $1,500. I'm atually HOPING the amalgams are the cause of all my sick feelings, weakness, and fatigue. That way, I can at least know how to get myself back to normal. I feel absolutely rotten. Just awful.
