The answer to does fluoride work. Yes and No. When you have adequate mineral intake, Fluoride protects teeth and bones from radiation damage. Fluoride also damages the natural process by blocking enzymes that break down and repair teeth and bones. The biggest differences are seen between soft and hard water. Without the necessary minerals, teeth and bones become porous and more susceptible to decay or fracture. Fluoride is bad for your teeth, but not as bad as radiation. The combination of Fluoride ,Soft Water, and radiation, is really bad.

I'm sorry to tell you that you are all sadly misinformed. I work in a dental office and have seen fluoride work miracles. We added a daily topical fluoride to my son's daily routine two years ago due to his high decay rate and he has not had a cavity since. Yes, he does get dark stains, but the hygienist can remove them at each cleaning and if they become bothersome before the visit, he can always go in early. However, fluoride use is not a cure-all. You have to have good home care for it to do any good and unfortunately, genetics play a role in decay rates as well.

There are two types of flouride. read this article: Repeat of Question 3. Is there a difference in the effectiveness between naturally occurring fluoridated water at optimal fluoride levels and water that has fluoride added to reach the optimal level? Opposition's Response Fluoride, as such, is never added to the water. Only silicofluorides (a hazardous waste containing many toxic pollutants) are used to artificially fluoridate water, and studies have proven that they do not effectively prevent tooth decay, they only delay it. (See opposition's response to Question 4). Silicofluorides never occur naturally in nature, and they are 85 times more toxic than natural occurring calcium fluoride. Therefore, the effect on the entire body will be different. This was proven in a study called, "Comparative Toxicity of Fluorine Compounds." After this study was completed, this statement was made: " ... this meant a daily intake of approximately 40 mg/kg of fluorine from sodium fluoride as compared with 3400 mg/kg from calcium fluoride. Therefore, from the standpoint of lethal concentrations and amount of fluorine necessary to cause growth inhibition, wide differences in toxicity of some of the compounds of fluoride were noted." (See 3-1: Industrial and Engineering Chemistry. July 1934, page 797). In other words, industrial waste (sodium fluoride) is 85 times more toxic than natural calcium fluoride. Both of them contain fluoride, but they are totally different compounds. (Also see 3-2). Calcium is a well-known antidote for fluoride poisoning. When an antidote accompanies a poison, it makes the poison far less toxic to the body. Soft waters to which fluoride is artificially added lack this calcium which is present in most waters that contain natural fluoride. "The claim that fluoridation is one of 'nature's experiments' is not valid because the salts put into the water supply, sodium fluoride or silicofluorides, are industrial products never found in natural water or in organisms. They are, furthermore, notoriously toxic, sufficiently so to be used as rat poison or insecticide. Calcium fluoride, on the other hand, which is the form commonly found in natural waters, is not toxic enough for such uses." — Dr. C. G. Dobbs, (Ph.D., A.R.C.S.) Bangor, Wales, England." http://www.fluoridedebate.com/question03.htmlthe version of flouride that is added to our drinking water builds up in our pineal gland, causing alot of glandular issues-- I remember reading in a womans magazine last year- (I believe it was "Woman's World" magazine) how a woman was experiencing adrenal fatigue symptoms, very sluggish and couldnt lose weight, etc.,etc. A doctor found out she had a build up of flouride over time, which ultimately created this condition in her. She had to go off any flouride toothpaste , and cut out anything with flouride before her body detoxed from the flouride. From what I gather, the natural occuring flouride in certain natural water sources is actually safe and healthy , even though it also causes teeth stains as the toxic by-product version added to mass population water supplies. I , and others , have noticed that my teeth have become very very white after I stopped drinking flouiridated water or using flouride toothpaste. I also noticed an improvement in my gum health, though the gums also first improved after I had all my metal fillings replaced.

My daughter will be 13 soon. We have mostly lived only in places with well water, with the exception of an 18 month or so stay in an area of Richmond VA with city water.
She does not have any fillings, she gets a dental exam once every couple years. By the time I was 13 I had about 6 amalgam fillings, I grew up drinking flouridated water but I also had a lousy dentist who may have needed extra money for his early retirement and funeral.
We stopped using flouride toothpast a few years ago. My teeth are also much whiter and no cavities in many years. i fight mostly only a battle against the damage done to my teeth by dentists as a kid.
Personally I think the world would be a better place without dentists.
