Don't they raise glutathione levels? Isn't glutathione the chemical the body uses to get rid of mercury? If NAC and MSM mobilize mercury but don't do so well at pulling it out of the body, then why aren't they considered useful to take while one is doing a round with DMSA or DMPS? Some websites clain that ALA mobilizes mercury but isn't that great at getting it out of the body.

It seems like Andy Cutler doesn't really like the use of MSM or NAC? Others seem to say NAC and MSM are great supplements to take during mercury detox. Perhaps the MSM and NAC might be very useful, but should be taken in a specific manner? I am confused about these, as well as the role of cilantro. While DMSA might be good to get the mercury out of the body, doesn't it need to be sufficiently dislodged from where it is deeply stored to be able to be excreted? is ALA enough to do this? it is hard to know what to believe. has anyone actually done tests plotting the mercury excretion with chelating agents, then tested to see if adding MSM or NAC to the rounds had any effect? It seem like the experts just make theoretical statements about NAC or MSM, but don't back these up with real data.

For 1st year with a diff doctor i did mercury chelation with Nac, b12 subs,b12 shots,folate, selenium high dose and some other stuff.

I can say this detox was worst time my life i felt like i was dying certain points.I didnt get better but started some hormone replacement therapy and that made me feel better for while and masked some symptoms until one day took some b12 and possibly mobilsed some mercury.

after a while had to decrease the near death chelation protocol doses as i was not getting any better actually feeling worse and i feel today some of the damage done may stay with me for this lifetime... :| but im not sure what was main culprit as i took alot of stuff back then which i know now from Dr Cutler and his work i shouldnt have while mercury poisoned. I can still tolerate nac at good dose so i tink must have been the folate and b12 methylas still cant touch it today!

Im hoping Dr Cutlers protocol will improve me health but after 4months of high dose ALA 100-150mg DMSA 33-50mg i havent noticed any improvements and what is wierd is that i dont experience any change of symptoms on/off rnds so have made topic on this on the frequent dose yahoo grp and also sent Dr Cutler an email or 2

This is what Dr C says on what removes mercury from the brain :

Since to remove mercury from the brain you need 2 thiol groups as a chelator binding strongly to mercury causing higher probability that it attachs long enough to be excreted from the body. Single thiol groups will attach weakly and end up causing further damage as it just mobilizes mercury.

So we have journal papers that say lipoic acid crosses the BBB, lipoic acid chelates mercury (and tons of other stuff), lipoic acid increases urinary and fecal excretion of mercury, lipoic acid is effective for treating mercury poisoning in a variety of mammals, lipoic acid prevents the pathological brain changes characteristic of mercury poisoning, and we have a bunch of adults who tried it and have had their neurological and centrally mediated endocrine symptoms cured. This set of facts leads me to conclude lipoic acid effectively chelates mercury out of the human brain. It is up to you what you make of it.


So from this info and others i dont think Nac,msm,cilantro can remove mercury from brain as they dont pass blood brain barrier to get inside brain and also they are not a 2 thiol grouped chelator too remove it.

I think Dr Cutler put Nac and copper in the supplement list of NEVER USE IT .. unless its a must. He said something like copper and mercury both work together and causes more intensed mercury symptoms same as NAC... he mentioned that Nac mobilses and moves the mercury all over the body causing it to be active mercury so symptoms would become worse and little if any actually get removed. Also in his books which i been reading up on.

Another thing i dont get is ... i can tolerate nac fine even in large doses like 2g a day but i have stayed away from it from his research and just to be safe than sorry

EDIT: on page 159 of Ac's amalgam illness book he says to use Nac if blood level is low and dose is 500mg-4g a day.Also recommends Nac if gluthatione is low.I thought folks with mercury poison all have low gluthathione since mercury depletes the methylation process?? :?

yet some reason majority of folks cant handle nac even small doses since they have high sulphur!

He also says ppl who are sensitive too exhaust fumes, preservatives BHT,BHA & TBHQ do well with Nac!(me)

maybe theres a pattern going on here with :

High sulphur ppl cant tolerate nac,sulpur foods but can tolerate b12 , folate etc

Low sulpur ppl can tolerate nac,sulphury foods but cant tolerate b12,folate ...

i do ok with nac,sulphury foods like eggs, bean dairy etc no reaction but b12 ughh ... ! cant stand it ;/

Are you taking molybdenum supplements? I think many who are sulphur intolerant might be deficient in molybdenum.

Yea hav taking molybdenum as was low in me tests but i can tolerate sulphury foods same time and sulphur levels were low in both urine and hair test... strange...
