I've been suffering for over 15 years with strange symptoms for which no practitioner has been able to diagnose the cause. Facial flushing, overheating, cold intolerance, cold hands; burning/crawling/tingling sensations on face, scalp, back of hands; muscle cramps/pains; headache; burning tongue/mouth; muscle twitching; dry skin/hair; more recently - lower bowel pain and weight loss.
The sysmptoms vary in intensity from week to week. I had a lot of amalgams placed before all this started but I can't remember exactly when. I am now 30.
Could this really be mercury poisoning?

Absolutely. I've been studying the effects of mercury poisoning for years now and since recovering myself (read my story here) have continued to read studies and books on the subject. All of the symptoms you mentioned can definitely be associated with mercury poisoning. The problem is finding someone with the proper training and experience to diagnose and treat it. I just acquired the rights directly from the author to distribute a book on the subject which is designed to help both patients and doctors on this timely subject. It is the best book I've found on the subject for the technical reader. I found this little-known book in the bookstore of one of the nations best alternative health schools (Bastyr University in Washingson state). I've never found it anywhere else. I would highly recommend getting a copy either from here or from the Bastyr bookstore. Read it and then lend it to you doctor. If he's not open-minded enough to take a look at it, you may consider working with a doctor who will. I would also recommend getting and reading the book that convinced me to have my fillings replaced and changed my life forever. You can get it from Barnes and Noble ( here). I've written the author and thanked him for it's because of this book that I have my life back. You may also want to read a couple other stories about this here . This may help you see your symptoms in others. Thanks for posting on this board and please feel free to keep us posted on your experience and progress in finding the solution. Your experience will, no-doubt benefit others.

I have also been suffering for years off and on, with every doctor I've seen, completely dumbfounded and perplexed. My symptoms have been so bizarre, and varied so much, but lately have centered on chest pains and pains in my arms, irritation in throat, and occaionally tips of my fingers. The angina has reached a truly frightening level as of late. What I don't get is that if it is linked to Mercury, which is in my mouth, why would it be off and on and not all the time?

If your symptoms are associated with mercury, the reason they could come and go could be related to blood-mercury levels?which do fluctuate. According to the research I've read, blood-mercury levels don't stay high very long. Mercury is harbored by several body tissues. Blood-mercury levels could be temporarily increased by diet. Do you eat fish? Do you drink pop (soda)? Do you eat processed sugar (candy, etc.)? Do you have much physical activity (exercise)? My symptoms DID come and go, especially early in the 3rd stage of mercury poisoning. Did you read my story?I would highly recommend you do some study on the effects of mercury on the body because you may very well find that it is NOT a coincidence that all these symptoms are occuring together, AND that each one of them has been associated with mercury. I could go on and explain how, but the books I recommended will do that for you much more thoroughly than I can here. A little bit of homework will pay off. I've been there. Also, be careful about believing everything a doctor tells you. I grew up in a family of doctors and they are prone to opinion in their profession just as anyone else is; And they are particularly prone to deny that symptoms are cause by something they know nothing about. I've been there. In fact, of ALL the people I've spoken with who have corrected their myriad of symptoms by replacing their fillings, I still have yet to meet ONE who was diagnosed with mercury poisoning by their doctor... NOT ONE!Unfortunately, because hospital tests are largely ineffective in detecting mercury poisoning (they typically measure blood-mercury levels which?remember?don't stay high for long), they don't detect it at all. And of course, this is if you're lucky enough to have a doctor who will test for something which they [usually] know nothing about. I'm sorry that finding the evidence for this is not easy, but because it's just now coming to light (mercury toxicity), it's hard to find people with medical experience related to it. You, unfortunately, have to do the work yourself. Nevertheless, it's very well worth it if you really want to get rid of your symptoms. I did and am so glad I did my homework. I hope this helps. Good luck and let us know what happens.

Russ, Thanks very much for your replies. It is very encouraging to know that such an apparently bizarre set of symptoms could be linked to mercury poisoning. I will be doing more research into the subject but will keep the forum informed of any developments.

When I sit and think about it, it is INCREDIBLE how the symptoms vary in intensity, length of "attacks", and how different areas of my body have suffered at different times. For example, two months ago I was having severe surges and pressures on the sides of my head, dizziness, and constipation, and a metallic taste in my mouth. As of late I have had AWFUL,AWFUL chest pains and the worst angina of my life,- easily. The symptoms can then vanish for half a day, acrually to the point where I feel almost totally healthy, and return without warning with frightening severity, so bad that I feel on the verge of rushing to the ER and that I might actually collapse or die. I almost can't believe the reactions in my own body, and the off and on, off and on systemic affects that are occuring.

Could you please tell me how your diet has changed since you began dealing with Hg toxicity?
Also, I too have dealt with chest pains. I find Magnesium supplementation is helpful dealing with this frightening symptom.

My chest pains have fortnately decreased very recently, but haven't gone away altogether. My diet actually hasn't altered much at all the past few months, -- I have maintained a steady diet of salads with tomatoes, olives, cucumbers, peas, etc. Not much lettuce, which doesn't agree with me. Sometimes food products high in calcium seem to help, i.e. milkshakes.Brushing my teeth too roughly really presents trouble, so I've been very gentle with that as of late.Hope this helps.

Here are the diet guidlines that helped me most: - No fish - Daily Chlorella (Sun) - Daily Green drink mixed with protein (NSP Green Zone) (this also contains chlorella) - No processed sugar (I cheat occasionally) - No caffiene (I cheat occasionally) - Moderate meat - Lots of raw veggies - Moderate fruits As you can see, it's a pretty "common-sense" diet. I will say that now that the fillings are removed, when I do cheat, I don't feel nearly as bad physically or emotionally as I did before. It's amazing to me how much food can affect your emotional state. Few people seem to make this connection. Even more amazing is how having the mercury removed affected my emotional strength in every way. I need to write a book because it's difficult to explain the depths to which it made a difference. Here is a link to my story if you're interested: http://herballure.com/HotTopics/MercuryAmalgam/MercuryBattle/index.html Here is a link to some other stories: http://mercurytalk.com/ Hope this helps!

Caffeine has been a serious downfall for me, but not long ago I quit 100% for 4 months, and not much got better. My chest pains have subtly resurfaced the past two days, though not to the frightening extent of much of last month.I have been taking Amoxicillin antibiotics to prep for the dental surgery, and thy helped with some of my angina, oddly enough.

Nick-
So are you prepping to have your amalgams removed? Why do they have to give you antibiotics as a prep for dental surgery?

Anytime one has extensive dental surgery, it is best to take antibiotics before and after for a while, because the mouth is a place where all kinds of bacterial infections can occur through bleeding and bad teeth. Some of the potential infections can in fact be life-threatening for some individuals, esp. if their gums bleed extensively. But even standard root canals can pose a problem for some folks.

I'm the originator of this thread. I have read much information about the amalgam controversy, went to see a specialist in the area, took the appropriate medications and now have half my amalgams out. I don't feel any different - still have the intermittent numbness on the right side mainly, the crawling sensations, the cold hands etc as I describe din the first post. Should I still go ahead and get the rest done?

Among many I've communicated with, experiences differ greatly.
My changes were immediate for some things, others took a little more time. For other people, changes can come slowly, even over a period of months.
In the research I've read, most people's bodies do not begin emitting (urine) mercury until the last filling is out. (for some/most) The body knows when the chronic exposure is gone and then it will enter "detox" mode, not before.
If your fillings have been in for years, it's reasonable to expect months to pass before seeing results. For some, the change is dramatic (me), for others, it's subtle but well worth it in the long run.
To my relatives who've had them removed recently... I've told them to never forget the way life was before. I often find that people don't see improvement even though it exists because it's slow and subtle. Often, others can see the change in you before you do.
Also, I cannot stress how important it is to study the effects of your diet on your health and emotions. It's really valuable as you learn more about yourself, you gain more control over your life.
Best of luck and let us know how it goes.
As with life, make a plan, follow thorough, make midcourse corrections when necessary.
