~~~IN the days following the earthquake in Haiti, we all watched a drama unfold on TV, as international search-and-rescue teams worked heroically to pull survivors from the rubble. Panicked parents pleaded for help at the places they believed their children were trapped. Families with no food or water painted signs on ragged bed sheets that said, "Please Help!"

In times of desperation, no ones says "no" to someone who comes on a rescue mission.

Yet that is exactly how the world responded when God sent His only Son on a rescue mission for mankind. Jesus Christ was scorned by leaders of his own own religion, betrayed by a close friend and crucified by the political authorities. They had seen Him heal the sick and heard Him proclaim the truth, yet they rejected Him! How could they be so foolish?

The Apostle Paul ran into similar opposition when he planted churches in cities such as Corinth. He wrote, "For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God" (1 Corinthians 1:18,NKJV).

Why is it so hard to get the lost to listen to the Gospel Survivors trapped deep in the rubble of Haiti knew they needed someone to save them--or else they would perish. Yet people trapped just as deeply in sin don't want to admit that they need a Savior.

Sometimes, a tragedy will get people's attention. In Haiti, thousands of survivors have poured out their hearts in prayer with chaplains from our Rapid Response Team, and more than 340 of those have prayed to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

In fact, we were preparing for a 'My Hope' campaign in Haiti before the earthquake hit. Now, church leaders are asking the BGEA to help them minister to their brokenhearted nation. At the proper time, I want to go there to hold a Crusade and preach the Gospel. In the meantime, our rescue team is on the ground, and people are being saved through the power of God.

-What do you need most today? Do you need just a word of hope? That's what we all need. And that's what the Word of God does that nothing and no one else can. The Word of God says to us that there is no hopeless situation, no hopeless illness, no hopeless marriage. If there were hopeless situations, then God would have given up long ago.

Having a Savior in Christ means that the hopeless have hope, the dead have life, and the abandoned have Good News.

Our hope is the anchor for the soul. "Where's your hope?" Jesus asks. It is the confident hope of the return of Christ.~~

Adam and Even didn't need hope because they didn't lack anything. And they had every reason to think that life would go on as pleasantly as it started--with every good thing that God had given them to enjoy. But they put it all at risk for the one thing the serpent said that God had withheld: The knowledge of good and evil (Gen. 2:17; 3:5). So when the serpent came with his offer, Eve was quick to indulge and Adam quick to follow (3:6). They got what they wanted: knowledge. But they lost what they had: innocence. With the loss of innocence came the need for hope--that their guilt and shame could be removed and goodness restored.

Our greatest hope is that Jesus, the "Desire of All Nations" (Hag. 2:7), has come! He has "delivered us from the power darkness," bought our redemption, and forgiven our sins (Col. 1:13-14). He even made it possible for us to be wise about what is good and innocent about evil (Rom. 16:19). Christ in us gives us the hope of glory.

Praise God for the hope of our soon to come, Jesus the Christ!

When bewilderment enshrouds you and despair looms at your door, when trials storm the beaches of your life, you may want to ask God, "Why? Why? Why?" Friend, you may never understand why things are happening the way they are in your life, but that's not your job. You see, it is not necessary for you to know why. That is God's question. Your response is all that matters. When we can't feel His hand, we must trust His heart. Our job is to simply trust and obey.

-WHEN I consider Your heavens," wrote the pslamist, "what is man that You are mindful of him?" (Ps. 8:3-4). The Old Testament circles around this question. Toiling in Egypt, the Hebrew slaves could hardly believe Moses' assurances that God would concern Himself with them. The writer of Ecclesiastes phrased the question more cynically: Does anything matter?

I was entertaining that same doubt myself when I received an invitation to address a conference on the theme: "I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands" (Isa. 49:16).

God made this stirring declaration to people suffering through a low point in their history as Isaiah prophesies that they would be taken away captive to Babylon. Hearing this, the people lamented, "The LORD has forsaken me, and ...forgotten me" (Isa. 49:14). To this lamentation God gave a series of promises--the Servant Songs (Isa. 42-53)--in which He sets the stage of hope for deliverance from hostile enemies. He foretells of the incarnation and sacrificial death of the Servant.

Do we matter to God? Christmas memorializes God's answer: "Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel" (7:14)--

Love brought Him down from the glory,
Love made Him come from the sky;
Love in His heart for the sinner
Led Him to suffer and die.~~

---Faith is Trusting

--Faith is trusting what the eye cannot see! Eyes see storms. Faith sees Noah’s rainbow. Your eyes see your faults. Your faith sees your Savior . Your eyes see your guilt. Your faith sees His blood. Your eyes look in the mirror and see a sinner, a failure. But by faith you look in the mirror and see a robed prodigal bearing the ring of grace on your finger and the kiss of your Father on your face.

How do I know this is true? someone might ask. It’s nice prose, but give me the facts. “God’s power is very great for those who believe,” Paul taught. Ephesians 1:19-20 says, “That power is the same as the great strength God used to raise Christ from the dead.”

Next time you wonder if God can forgive you, read that verse. The very hands that were nailed to the Cross are open for you!

-IN a very real way, we followers of Jesus live in two kingdoms. Writing to the believers in Philippi, Paul addressed "all God's holy people in Christ Jesus at Philippi." His readers were residents in Philippi, yet they were citizens of the kingdom of Heaven. We, too, have two address, so to speak, one in this world and the other--the primary one--in the kingdom of God. Knowing this, we care when the world acts contrary to Jesus, but we are not affected because the kingdom of Heaven is where we have our eternal address.

One of the realities that we face as Christ followers is that we are loyal both to the nations or societies in which we live, and we are loyal to Jesus Christ, our true King. We pay our taxes to the rulers of this world, but we give all we have to Jesus Christ. As long as we have life, we have dual citizenship. (Those in Christ, born of the Spirit of the Lord.)

We should keep in mind that we lost our national citizenship when we die (John 3:3). But our residency in the Kingdom of God is forever. In fact, we already live in the Kingdom that is eternal!~~

--Paul's letter to the Ephesians tells us that though we were spiritually dead, God "made us alive together with Christ" (Eph. 2:1,5). Yet declaring and making us spiritually alive was a deeply painful matter for God. Our sin and its consequent spiritual death required the suffering, death, and resurrection of God's Son (vv.4-7).

It's one thing to show evidence of physical life. Our challenge is to show evidence of spiritual life. Having been declared alive in Christ, we are called to live in gratitude for the immeasurable mercy and life given to us.

--THE POWER OF THE CROSS!
--(Read Romans 1:16-17)

--THE SCENE OF THE CROSS IS A PARADOX. It demonstrates the power of God in what appears to be the weakest moment of His Son's life. With hands and feet nailed to rough wood, Jesus looked totally helpless. Adding to that impression was the fact that He remained there while the crowd jeered, [b]"If You are the Son of God, come down from the Cross" (Matt. 27:40).

Strength is not always revealed in a dramatic display; at times it's demonstrated in determined endurance. What power help Jesus on that Cross, when with one spoken word He could have been free? It was divine love that kept Him there. With mankind's eternal destiny at stake, Christ hung on the Cross until our salvation was secured.

But the power of the Cross didn't end when Jesus finally finished His suffering, gave up His spirit, and died. His death thrust open the door of salvation to all people--those who walk through it by faith are forgiven for every sin and ensured a place in Heaven.

Yet even after salvation, the power of the Cross continues in believers' lives. Millions of people have been transformed as a result of the Savior's victory over sin and death. He sets us free from sinful habits and addictions, empowering us to live victoriously in His righteousness.

Have you let the Cross do its work in your life: The Lord does not force Himself on anyone. Rather, He offers 'His gift' freely to all who will believe in Him and walk in His ways. With each step of faith that we take, the mighty work of God in us increases.

---THE IMPERATIVES OF REDEMPTION / WHY DID JESUS HAVE TO DIE?

--“From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.” (Matthew 16:21)

The little word “must” (Greek deon) conveys urgency and necessity and is frequently used in connection with the redemptive work of the Lord Jesus Christ. When He was just a lad, He told the learned men in the temple: “I must be about my Father’s business” (Luke 2:49).

But then the first time this key auxiliary verb is found in the New Testament is in the comprehensive prophetic statement of His mission, as given to His disciples in our text. He must go to Jerusalem to suffer, and die, and be raised the third day. As He was moving toward that climactic event, “he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent” (Luke 4:43). Furthermore, “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work” (John 9:4).

He had much preaching and much work to do in that brief three-year interim in world history. But then He must die! And why must He die? Because “the scriptures must be fulfilled” (Mark 14:49). “These are the words which I spake unto you . . . that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me” (Luke 24:44). And how must He die? “As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up” (John 3:14). But then, of course, “he must rise again from the dead” (John 20:9).

To what purpose must He be lifted up on the Cross to die and then be raised again? Why, because “there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

--It’s Getting Gloriously Dark!

--I wonder what would happen if scientists began making a human being from the cell of another human being. We are living in strange days, are we not? But I want to tell you our hope is not to be found in science. There’s no blessing in the book of science. Friend, the blessing is in the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

When I see things like cloning come to pass they do not shake me. Sometimes they grieve me or sadden me, but they do not shake me because I know God’s Word. I know it is the fulfillment of prophecy, and I can say with all of the saints, “Praise God! It’s getting gloriously dark.”

God is revealing Himself every day. Look outside, see His majesty in the trees, flowers, plants, mountains, oceans. God is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. He is in all places all the same time. HE IS THE CREATOR!
Either accept His 'free gift' of salvation, and ask Him to come into your life, (See Romans 10:9-10), or turn away and REJECT HIM. If you reject Jesus as Lord and Savior, you have chosen to spend eternity separated from the Creator and will spend eternity in the bottomless pit, the place reserved for the devil and his followers. Don't wait. You may not be here tomorrow.

"It is accounted unto men once to die and after that the Judgment." Which choice will you make? IF YOU CHOOSE JESUS CHRIST THE BELOW MESSAGE IS FOR YOU. If you refuse, you might just read no further. This message is for those who BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST, and accept His terms for following Him. "If anyone would come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it."

--ACCEPTED IN THE BELOVED ~~

“To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.” (Ephesians 1:6)

This wonderful verse assures that all who have been saved by God’s grace have been “accepted” by the Lord. However, this is not just a marginal acceptability. The Greek word occurs only one other time in the New Testament, and there it appears in the words of the angel Gabriel to Mary. “Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women” (Luke 1:28). That is, we are not merely accepted, we are highly favored by God!

This is not because of our own personal merits, of course. It is because God sees us as in His Son; He loves us because He loves Him, and we are in Him.

Although Christ is called God’s “beloved Son” seven times in the New Testament (each time directly by the Father Himself), there is only one other time when He is spoken of simply as “the beloved.” This is in Matthew 12:18 (quoting Isaiah 42:1), “Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him.”

The love of God the Father for His beloved Son is the root source of every other love in the universe, for it is the one love that is eternal. “Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world” (John 17:24). This is what it means to be highly favored in the beloved! This was the prayer of Christ on His way to Gethsemane the night before He went to the cross.

We who are in Him are predestined to be with Him in glory, to behold His glory, and forever, as redeemed sinners saved by grace through faith, to be “to the praise of the glory of his grace”

----WATER AND BLOOD~~

“This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.” -----(1 John 5:6)--

--John’s writings are replete with examples and illustrations that focus on the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ. The gospel of John is built around seven great miracles of creation demonstrating the unique power that only the omnipotent Creator God could wield (John 10:25).

** In his first epistle, John uses the word “know” 28 times to emphasize the behaviors and evidence that assure us that we have a living faith in Jesus Christ and are in truth the sons of God. In today’s text, John lists three “proofs” witnessed in history that verify the incarnation of the God-man Jesus Christ.

--- The water refers to physical birth—the amniotic sac that surrounds and cushions every human child until just before birth. This common experience was used by the Lord Jesus to help Nicodemus understand the necessity of the second (spiritual) birth required to enter the Kingdom of heaven (John 3:5-6).

--- The blood is either a reference to Christ’s death on Calvary “for the remission of sins” (Romans 3:25), or, perhaps, the fulfillment of the many prophecies that this Messiah would be of the lineage of David (Luke 1:32). Either way, this poignant evidence was both visible and verifiable.

-- The “Spirit” witness is obviously the time when the Holy Spirit visibly descended like a dove on the Lord Jesus at His baptism by John the Baptist, and the voice of the heavenly Father said, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased” (John 1:33; Matthew 3:16-17).

There is thus a threefold witness to Christ’s incarnation: human physical birth, royal bloodline with the shedding of innocent blood, and heavenly confirmation. “This is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world” (John 4:42).

---GOD IS PATIENT WITH US ~~

~~~God is more patient with us than we are with ourselves. We assume if we fall, we aren’t born again. If we have the old desires, we must not be a new creation. If you’re anxious please remember what Paul said in Philippians 1:6, “God began doing a good work in you, and I am sure he will continue it until it is finished when Jesus Christ comes again.”

In many ways your new birth is like your first. In your new birth God provides what you need; someone else feels the pain, and someone else does the work. And just as parents are patient with their newborn, so God is patient with you. But there’s one difference. The first time you had no choice about being born. This time you do. The power is God’s. The effort is God’s. The pain is God’s.

But look at what else John says in this passage: 'Jesus is the propitiation not only for our sins "but also for the sins of the whole world." How amazing! Jesus' death covers all sins and worst of sins. There is nothing anyone can do that is so sinful that Jesus does not forgive it!

Jesus does not force Himself on anyone. Have you asked the Lord Jesus to forgive you of your sins, and (have you) invited Him to come into your heart and live. He is knocking on each and every heart. Please open the door and invite Him in. He died just for you. Take the Bible as a personal 'LOVE LETTER' just for you. That is how it is meant.

---WHEN GOD BECAME MAN~~

“Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands.”

We cannot comprehend what it meant for the infinite Creator God to become finite man, even coming “in the likeness of sinful flesh” (Romans 8:3). Nevertheless, we can, and must, believe it, for “every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God” (1 John 4:3).

The Scriptures have given us a glimpse of the “emptying” that His incarnation required—the setting aside of certain outward aspects of His deity. He had been “so much better than the angels” (Hebrews 1:4), but He had to be “made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death” (Hebrews 2:9)—“put to death in the flesh” (1 Peter 3:18).

The eternal Word “was God” (John 1:1), but it was necessary that “the Word was made flesh” (John 1:14). “The world was made by Him” (John 1:10), but “the princes of this world . . . crucified the Lord of glory” (1 Corinthians 2:8).

He “being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God” (Philippians 2:6).. That is, He was not fearful of losing His deity and, therefore, did not have to cling to His divine nature and attributes as He became man. Thus, He “made himself of no reputation” (emptying Himself of the outward form of God) “and took upon him the form of a servant” (Philippians 2:7).

Yet that was only the beginning. “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him” (2 Corinthians 5:21).. He suffered hell for us, that we might enjoy heaven with Him.

Because He was willing to be so humiliated, He will one day be crowned with glory and honor. “God also hath highly exalted Him, . . . that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord” (Philippians 2:9, 11).
