Firstly its great to see a site where sufferers can communicate directly with eachother...many thanks Russ!!
The reason i searched the site out is because i believe all my lifetime problems are due to mercury toxicity and the homeopath i see has told me to have my amalgams removed.
My problems have seemingly been around for most of my life but when i really think about it since i was 11, amazingly, when i had my first filling. Instead of writing a life story i thought id share my symptoms with everyone and eleborate on the major ones.
1. Sweating when near computers - Yup my hands get all clammy and sweaty and i sweat, but it isn't a normal sweat the odor is really sharp. and my eyes get dark circles underneath them. My ears itch and my chest tightens. Also my vision changes...almost like i see through an orange tint. Also hair loss..
2 - Lights - Ahhh light sensitivity. When the sun goes down i feel better.
3 - Mirrors - Most seemingly ridiculous symptom. Mirrors bother me. I get stressed around them. Crazy but true...
4 - Sugar - I get depressed after eating it..oh and i have severe intolerance to yeast (was diagnosed with candida by homeopath)
5- Cysts on my head - I have them taken out..they reappear..it goes on and on.
...throughout my life ive suffered from late development and im now unable to work due to suffering from depression. My doctor thinks im crazy and im now seeing a psychiatrist. I've thought about telling them my theory but figure it will be greeted with the "all in your mind" line. So now im looking to have it done privately even though the NHS could do it for free?!
So how did everyone take that first step. Did you often think"if this doesnt solve it..ill give up?" and how did you find a reputable dentist.
Thanks for listening
Stuart

Glad you found us, Stuart. Hopefully can take time to read my story because you will find some similarities to what you're experiencing written in it. You can read it here: http://herballure.com/HotTopics/MercuryAmalgam/MercuryBattle/index.html Let me comment on some of your symptoms... Sweating when near computers... I've read a study lately that says the radiation given off by a picture tube (computer monitor) can cause and increase in the rate which mercury comes off an amalgam filling. my eyes get dark circles underneath themCould be a sign of low blood sugar and several other things. This is a symptom I had before my removal and rarely have now. My ears itch and my chest tightensI would get a terrible tightening in my chest and it felt as if my heart was going to stop beating. I would get itching on my skin, but it was quite bad for the first year after the removal. As I've read, this is usually a sign of mercury excretion via the skin (a good thing). I suddenly developed numerous "skin tags" in my underarm area the first year after removal. Mercury causes genetic mutations so it's logical that moles or skin tags will result. This past year, I've had no new ones develop. Also hair loss..This is also in my story. I always had complements on my thick hair. Of course, I was a musician and had a little more than most. Nevertheless, the last 2 years before my removal (1998 - 1999) my hair started thinning so much, I began to get really nervous. I've read that mercury can stimulate DHT production which, of course, causes balding. I can find no other cause as I've never done drugs or smoked anything at all. I've always been health conscious. After the removal, my hair did not get thicker again, but it stopped getting thinner. light sensitivityAgain, I've read studies about the link between this and mercury. Mirrors bother meFunny you mention this. The problem for me (when I was younger and had fillings placed) was that I hated having my picture taken, and couldn't stand birthdays; Too much attention. Sugar - I get depressed after eating itWas a BIG symptom for me. You can read about it in my story, which I am posting as a PDF also as soon as I'm finished writing this response to you. No longer a problem. diagnosed with candidaAgain, in my story. It was so bad that after a few years of eating yogurt daily (helps tremendously because of the bifidophilus?friendly bacteria in the colon) the redness under my arms became unbearable. This problem is gone. suffering from depressionThis is statistically the most common complaint of mercury poisoning. I've thought about telling them my theory but figure it will be greeted with the "all in your mind" line.Yep! The first book I read on this subject is called, "It's All In Your Head", by Hal Huggins. It's about that fact that many people with mercury poisoning have been told this by doctors. This is the book that convinced me to have the amalgams taken out. Shortly after that, my life changed dramatically. how did you find a reputable dentistI would highly recommend reading the book ("It's All In Your Head"). It has a lot of information about finding a good dentist. As for me, I phone interviewed several offices in my area that were recommended by Huggin's office. I chose one in Clearwater, Florida and he was excellent. --- It's sounds to me like you're finally onto the cause of your ailments. I would just make sure that the dentist who does your work is specially trained in safe mercury removal, AND removes the fillings correctly. The book will explain that there is a huge difference in the success rate between fillings that are just removed and those that are removed correctly. There are some very specific guidelines to follow which will give you a much better chance of triggering your body into detox mode. This is all explained in the book. You can get a copy from Barnes and Noble or from my website (I'm actually a reseller and I ship to the U.K. all the time but you can probably save a few pounds getting it from a large on-line retailer). Here are some links to help: Barnes and Noble Herb Allure, Inc. I hope this is helpful. Best of luck to you and please keep us posted!

Hi Stuart,
I'm also a UK sufferer and was diagnosed with ME. I am pretty sure that mercury is my problem but three months post amalgam removal I am still not well. I'm chelating with DMSA and guess it's going to be a long haul.
If you want any help with dentists/supplements etc please feel free to e.mail me on els029@bangor.ac.uk.

My health continues to be back and forth, and recently on a trip to Oregon I got ready to get all my Amalgam fillings removed, until the dentist quoted me $9,000 to have them replaced, along with 2 root canals!!!!! If that was the only dentist, I'd do it anyway, but I'm going to look around, esp. nw that I'm back in Calif.

Russ, Thank you for the info. I've already spent hundreds in X-Ray and Consultation fees. This dilema has cost me physically as well as financially, and my anger continues to grow as my symptoms continue to disrupt my life in perpetual fashion.

Hi Russ!
Thank you for replying and providing so much feedback on your experience. Last week i took the plunge and decided to have my amalgams removed. So far i've had the top of my teeth done in two sessions. The dentist seems very able and was well aware of the dangers of amalgam(pathetic huh). I have a question though. Did you feel better after some amalgams were out or did it take until they were all removed? Just curious as i feel exactly the same(basically my main problem is my electrical and radio wave sensitivity, my hair goes grey when im charged!) What i have noticed though is that im grinding my teeth a lot now which i find peculiar.
Thanks again for all the priceless support you give to everyone.
Stuart
