--Antioxidants / Which is Right for You?
-From: Vitamin Research Products

There's no bigger buzzword in the supplement industry these days than "antioxidant"--and with good reason. Antioxidants--incredibly beneficial nutrients naturally found in various foods--can help prevent a wide range of diseases, ranging from macular degeneration and cataracts to Alzheimer's disease and cancer.

-CoQ10-

CoQ10 is an essential component in your body's production of energy. The majority of CoQ10 concentration resides in your heart, brain and liver. Think about it--of all the organs in your body, these are the hardest working, so naturally, they need as much of this energy-boosting antioxidant as possible to optimally do their jobs.

For instance, with peak levels of CoQ10, your heart functions at its best, but when levels are low, your heart struggles to pump blood throughout your body and you may experience symptoms like physical weakness and mental fatigue. Not only that, CoQ10 eats up free radicals floating around in your heart and arteries, protecting them from inflammation and other oxidative stresses.

CoQ10 supplementation becomes especially important as we age, as our natural levels of the nutrient start to decline. This drop starts in the mid-30s and by age 80, most of us have lower levels of CoQ10 in our systems than we had at birth.

In addition, CoQ10 supplementation is critical for those who take cholesterol-lowering statin drugs. According to one study, just 30 days of statin use reduced participants' CoQ10 concentrations by 50 percent. So the very drug that is supposed to reduce your heart attack risk by controlling your cholesterol is actually robbing your heart of the fuel it needs to run peoperly. Ironic, isn't it?

CoQ10 can benefit your heart--and your overall health--in a variety of ways. It can protect against coronary artery disease, improve outcomes in cases of heart failure, prevent memory decline, alleviate fibromyalgia, reduce the risk of heart attack and slow the progression of atherosclerosis (when taken with garlic).~~~
