Featured Supporter: The
Listening Program by Advanced Brain
Technologies
My son is good with the
headphones. Although he never had any trouble going to bed, he seems to fall
asleep much faster since we started The Listening Program. He usually listens
right before bedtime. He will listen to the whole thing but he keeps asking to be
done and listen to different kind of music. It's a little challenging because he's
not used to this kind of music. I have started playing Beethoven in the house to
help him get used to the sound. Personally, I enjoy the relaxing
music.
The Listening Program® (TLP) is a music listening
therapy, that provides engaging brain stimulation to improve performance in
school, work and
life.

The article
in last week's Wall Street Journal titled Autism Linked
to Environmental Factors was an acknowledgement by the mainstream media that
the environment is a contributing factor in the ever-increasing rates of children
affected with autism. The international conference held in Spain discussed
environmental triggers and a prevention treatment utilizing iron supplements.
Clearly, this is something our community has known for some time, however, it is a
reminder that autism is a journey. The world of research and science takes many
years, if not decades to scientifically validate what society may already know.
This reminds me that each families' journey with autism is unique and different.
The path to recovery takes many twists and turns and looks different but we all
have to stay focused, motivated, vocal and above all celebrate the milestones of
improvement.
This month I want to share with you Generation Rescue's MAJOR
milestone. Over the past few years we have funded 400 families with medical
treatment grants to put them on the path to recovery. Our grant program provides
beginner families with the tools necessary to achieve new milestones, hear words
for the first time and see social interaction. The recent Rescue Our Angels event
raised $200,000 for these medical treatment grants and our goal is to raise $1
million by the end of the year, so another 400 families can celebrate new
milestones on the path to recovery.
I hope you will read about and view
the pictures from our event in this recap
article. Please join me in celebrating the opportunity these families and many
more will have to receive treatment that changes lives while we continue on this
journey.
Sincerely, Candace McDonald

This month's eSchool News includes an article written by
Generation Rescue's expert Heather Patin titled "Six Tips for
Guiding the Learning of Students with Autism." The article is one that we
suggest all parents read as it answers the important question "How can teachers
and parents ensure that the needs of students with autism are being
addressed?"
When a parent hears the words "your
child has autism," everything changes. Generation Rescue is here for that change
and the many more to come throughout their lifetime. Many individuals with autism
suffer from treatable conditions like gut issues, sleep disorders and
mitochondrial dysfunction which directly impact speech development, behavior and
focus. Our grant program provides the opportunity to pursue treating these
underlying symptoms of autism.
We understand that financial costs is
often times the prohibitive reason from pursuing treatment, therefore, our grant
program is available to individuals of ALL ages with an economic
need.
To learn more about the grant program and to start your
application today, visit our website and read the testimonials below to see how our grants are
making a difference in the lives of families affected by autism
today! Less than a month starting biomedical treatment, the Generation
Rescue grant recipients are making amazing progress!
Paxton's
teachers were thrilled today when I came to pick him up from
school. They said it was the best day he's had in a long time. Paxton's
expressive and receptive language is just taking off. He is able to express
anything he wants. We're over the moon! Seeing these positive changes
makes us so grateful for this opportunity.

"It's been a very hectic couple of months for
me. Hectic good. Not the bad kind of hectic. You know, the kind where I plunk
myself down on the bathroom floor in a heap of exhaustion and weep kind of hectic
that used to be my status quo in my previous life as a mother of two daughters
with autism. Thankfully, those days are long gone."
